NAF officially inducts first indigenous UAV names it TSAIGUMI . When asked about GULMA his response was. “Gulma UAV was not operational in the sense that it wasn’t designed to be deployed for operational missions unlike the new Tsaigumi. I was Registrar at AFIT, when Gulma was first successfully test flown by the way. Many thanks as always.”

The ongoing offensive campaign in sinai his been jointly carried out by the police, army paratroopers and naval SF which are been issued with the Beretta arx160 etc.

In essence each military unit are been issued with different types of weapon.

Now why would they do that ? I’ve followed the project over the last 2 years, I have pictorial evidence that what Gulma was Amebo can only wish to be... same thing applies to this new drone and Gulma.

In fact I think Amebo was a technology demonstrator, also don’t forget NAF signed partnership with a Portuguese UAS firm. The sensors have changed, range..

UAV are different in terms of Generational.I.e.when they were built, Endurance level. Max pay load and ability to communicate with both land based and Orbital based Satellites.Flight ceiling.
The Amebo was the first Generation.
This is arguably the fourth and the difference when profiled tomorrow will be glaring.

So if that I*ED was a EFP type it would have punched a hole through a armoured vehicle , maybe even a tank and not make much of a crater in the process.

Highly effective and sophisticated mines/IE*Ds converge their explosive force in one particular direction and not all over the place.

Also maybe the I*ED here was a cascading type one , with primary and secondary or tertiary etc charges.

Thankfully maybe the fuucker got blown while laying the first charge.

So we can't be sure unless I finish repairing my time machine grin

Yes Amebo was the initial Tech demonstrator but it was operationalized so also was Gulma.

Any significant difference between this new UAV and Gulma?

Please highlight for me....

All 3 UAVs say GULMA but none do them are identical

what I understand from DOPRI is that 'it wasn't operational' in the sense that it wasn't fitted with sensors and optics for active service.

if you notice none of Gulmas pictures come with sensors but this new UAV (still can't spell it) has a sensor (optics) package underneath it.

I believe Gulma was a testbed for further research and development (R& D) which led to this new UAV (can't spell). DOPRI response was vague and sketchy as usual...

well let's see what tomorrow brings

History will correctly be unkind to him, but he gave those following Valentine's day a great gift.

P.S. Now that he's no longer C-in-C I can freely express my opinion. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

He gave a combative interview this afternoon saying he was going no-where. Tomorrow Parliament would've kicked him out, which would've been better as all his useless many ministers would've gone. A coward to the end.

He gave zero fvcks. History will give zero in return.

In my opinion, all these UAV being designed by NAF have similar designs.

What I feel they did is to have UAV with same design but different sizes /engines and sensors and then name then differently..

Eg J-11, J-15 , J-16.

Congratulations to the Nigerian airforce but it took them too long o.

As I said at the time, the Imo State governor can have him as well as Mugabe. Rochas Okorocha does seem to have a knack of honouring soon to be discarded useless heads of state.

On a good note, no so-called leader will accept the honour. Unfortunately for the citizens of Imo State, their money has already been wasted.

TROOPS INTERCEPT FLEEING BOKO HARAM VEHICLE BORNE IED DURING CLEARANCE OPERATION

Following the heat of the ongoing Operation DEEP PUNCH II by troops of OperationLAFIYA DOLE, the troops of 120 Battalion, Goniri, and subunits of Defence Companies under the 27 Task Force Brigade Garrison, Buni Yadi, Yobe State, have intercepted and detonated a vehicle borne Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) in a Golf Wagon car that some escaping Boko Haram terrorists laid in wait for the advancing troops today, Wednesday 14th February 2018.

Intelligent report earlier revealed that some escaping terrorists were habouring in some communities close to the Brigade. On the approach of the troops towards their hideout, the fleeing terrorists lying in wait were unable to withstand the heavy fire power of the troops. They quickly set the IED laden vehicle and fled the scene, having laid a number of IEDs in wait for the troops. The gallant troops were able to detonate the vehicle, detected and detonated other explosives laid for them.

It would be recalled that some fleeing Boko Haram terrorists met their waterloo recently while trying to escape through 120 Battalion blocking position in Goniri. The desperate terrorists were severely dealt with by the gallant troops.

In the same vein, the main body of the battalion who earlier moved for clearance operations to block the fleeing terrorists along the border communities of Yobe and Borno States made tremendous success. Several camps of the terrorists were destroyed.
Their fuel dump was discovered and destroyed. The troops also recovers several items such as special IED tube, 3 bicycles and Boko Haram terrorists flag. Other terrorist hideouts destroyed during the clearance operation include Ajingi, Talala, Malunti, in Borno State and Doksa 1, 2 and 3, in Yobe State.

Meanwhile, the morale of the troops remains very high as they continued with their clearance operations, patrols and on maximum alert to intercept any fleeing Boko Haram terrorists in the region.

You are please requested to disseminate this information to the general public through your medium.

Thanks for your usual cooperation.
