Maybe in Nigeria but buying a used phone in the United States isn't such a bad thing actually. You can actually save a load of money, if you know where to look. Many people are crazy about new stuffs ... they must get the latest model, and most of them get bored after using them briefly. So ebay is the best place to purchase a used phone if you live in America. And with eBay's Money Back Guarantee, you can't go wrong. You can always return it if the phone is not as described.

I just purchased a used Samsung Galaxy Note8 on ebay a few weeks ago, and the phone is in MINT condition (barely used at all). The battery life is super and everything is in perfect condition. Unfortunately for me, I have already cracked the screen ... now, I am going to lose a lot of money if I try to resale it as I had planned. But I might have to do that because I still prefer my 2 year old iphone 6s plus, believe it or now. I am just an iphone guy, I dunno why sad

To me, the only downside to buying a used phone is the battery life. Hence, if you wanna purchase a used phone don't purchase a model that came out more than 1 year ago.

I bought samsung note 2 in 2014 i sold it last year when i lost interest in seeing the same phone everyday. Sometimes you have to choose whom and where you are buying from.

Be deceiving yourself... Naija can't do without okrika(used) stuffs, its in their DNA already

In Nigeria We Have;
Okrika(used cloths)
Okrika shoes
Second hand cars
London used gadgets(phones and Co)

Infact our lives is surrounded with substandards and used stuffs

Even the so-called 'london use" were not really used in london. At least most of them.

I've seen so many "london use" bearing Verizon, AT&T, Cricket and Tmobile logos.

Most are stolen, recycled, refurbished, and naija used.

You know you are right... I used to buy used phones - but one thing, not all used phones are bad. I don't like using a phone for more than 3months...
I just decided to change last year
Do you know what? I've been using the same phone for more than 4 months now
It's high time I sold it out as second hand...

Nice tips, I'll sure be careful when buy a new smartphone next time
Ennyholar:
Avoid the Rush

Yes! you have to avoid the rush since you might buy something that you will regret later. You need to take time and go for the kind of smart phone you really want.

Avoid competition

There shouldn’t be any competition when buying a smart phone. The kind of smart phones others are using shouldn’t lead you to buying yours. You don’t need to compete, its not necessary. Just buy what your money can afford.

Avoid buying used smart phone

Most people buy used smart phone or what we call second hand and get a lot of problems later. In other to avoid this, you need to buy a smart phone which is new and can last longer. Especially the life span of the battery.

Avoid buying smart phone on the street

Buying any item on the street is not right and buying smart phone on the street is not an exception. Most of these people selling smart phones on the street are fraudsters and they can sell a bad smart phone to you. So please advise your self and do the right thing.
