i want to go into palm oil storage is it no longer profitable?
It is, and could even be more profitable, but is highly risky with price fluctuations that is nearly unpredictable.
This in my opinion is because most of the palm oil in the Nigerian market is imported, because our local mills can't satisfy the national demand, as a result government usually grants import waivers to certain political interest groups, this usually leads to massive importation of this produce at a usually lower price that eventually causes a market glut.

Bros, pls shed more light on this business.
ugonology:
Honestly storing food produce is presently the best investment. But please don't do palm oil, its price index is not stable and is most times politically influenced .(those who bought last year can testify). I will advice you try a produce that is more stable and has a guaranteed ROI no matter how small, a typical example of this is corn and beans.

Last year, I spent about this same amount buying 100 bags of corn at 5200 naira per bag, the total amount spent was about 585 thousand naira (plus cost of storing space, treatment and transportation) today a bag of corn goes for about 9000-9500 naira, I just want it to hit 10,000 naira before I can sell. My only regret is not including beans in my portfolio, as beans was selling for about 18,000k by then, but now sells for 28-30k .

Lastly, you can do this on your own, don't give your hard earned money as an undeserving offering to some jambnairaland snake and vampires!
Be delligent to do your part, its just a few days of research and asking the right questions, then sit down and watch how your 500k will go hunt you another 500k.

Don't store oil only
Get connection with hotels and boarding school, supply them oil.
Buy like 20 kegs; supply 10 and store 10.
Use the interest to increase your storage

Well, business goes wt passion. If u have a passion for a particular biz, u will be able to stand it even wen the going gets tough.
I will suggest u start with buying and selling. This will help u grow the money b4 investing it in a bigger one.

If u have serious disciple, I will suggest u go into buying and selling of women wears. New one or fairly used (Okrika or OK).
Why i mentioned bn disciplined is the ability to give away ur stock to girl friends to the detriment of the business.

My reason for choosing women's wear is that most women are irrational buyers (Apology to women folk). They buy without budgeting when it comes to fashion. So whoever sales what women buy will always have very high patronage especially wen u are able to accumulate those attractive ones.

If you are good at picking fine things and u have flare for this kind of business then try it. It is not too capital intensive to start. If u have few ppl that can buy it, they will invite their friends too. Ur house can be ur shop till u have money to rent a shop.
U can also take few to school to sell.

Buy those fine ones, wash and iron them, package them and go to places like banks let them collect and pay u may be as soon as they are paid salary.

Mini importation blah blah blah.
I had same issue and was looking for ideas. I fixed the damn money but got peanuts in return.
Don't do silly importation or agricultural stuff.
This is what I did.
I rented a shop.
Registered with Paga (bank deposits, withdrawal and bills payment... Dstv, NEPA, gotv etc)
Bought computer, photocopy Maxine, printer etc
Bought TV and PS 2 and Xbox games.
Now I get at least 2k daily without even going to the office cos I employed someone.
It's a business that doesn't involves perishable goods. Just your fuel gives you your money.
My business is already registered and account opened with banks.
Now I'm just planning on expanding.

Who is deceiving you with this fake thing that traveling to Dubai is the best u can do with hard earned 1million Naira?
I bet u, if u try dat, u will regret ur mistake. Dubai is good for tourism, go and buy things and come back and not good for job seekers especially when u are not a professional in what u read in high institution.

As a foreigner here in Nigeria i can see things that you guys don't see .. the government (in my opinion) is doing great compared to the previous one .. cutting on Importation is so helpful for the country .. we will absolutely see hardtimes because you guys are not even cultivating what you eat .. it's really starnge to see a nation that depend on other to feed it self .. its so wrong .. i would say go for agriculture or anything related to food .. because from what i see .. Nigeria is Hungry. And yet the resources are uncountable
Thank you
I said this several times but unfortunately they don't listen.

What Nigerians want is do called "office job". They want to walk around from one office to another on suit and tie. For this reason, they have abandoned agriculture which many of them grew up with. It is sad.

The first time I heard that Nigerians now import chickens I know they are done like dinner. I have also supported this administration for banning importation of groceries but I think it actually banned importation of cars instead. That's like misplaced priority
