You should ask yourself how have they progressed themselves in past 100 years. The core north is conservatively retrogressive.

what is the plan of the North for Nigeria?

I am specifically asking you this question because I know as a Southerner, we want progress as it is evident in our dealings, no matter the approach deployed.

What is the plan of the North for Nigeria?

You have rejected resource control,

You have rejected restructuring and regional government,

You have rejected state police==> https://www.nairaland.com/4357691/middle-belt-groups-afenifere-others

You have rejected ranching of your cattles... to stop the killings going on.

all the above were heavily supported by the South BUT you rejected all in the name of one borrow religion or ethnicity.

So, I am asking you, what is your plan for Nigeria? I can't understand how you keep opposing everything to move me forward and you expect me to be calm when my mates in other African climes and making progress.

OP, by going through this tread I hope you ll understand why we act d way we do.

as an individual I obviously cannot speak for the north.

However,I can gladly tell you what I wish for the north.

I agree with the call for the disintegration of this country and for the north to go its own way; because I have come to the sad realisation that we have been forced together with very dishonest co-travellers who revel in hate and espouse selfishness.

I hope for a future where we in the north do not have to share the same passport with those who continually bring dishonour to our collective identity; where every Nigerian is seen and treated as potential criminal.

I crave for a north where I would be confident of buying medical drugs, spare parts and other products without fear they were fake or adulterated in order to make someone (who already hates me) rich at a risk to my health or personal comfort and convenience.

I crave for a north without the imported immoralities and criminality of prostitution, baby factories, human trafficking, armed robbery, kidnapping, ritualism, cannibalism etc; which were erstwhile alien or minimal in our region.

I crave for a north free from a people cursed with innate hatred for others based on differences in tribe or their religion; who have no tact or diplomacy and feel they have a monopoly to insult and disrespect.

I crave for a return to a north where the fear of God, decency and respect for self and others are in the core value of our culture.

I am hopeful of a north where my ppl would continue to be contented with the honest living they make out their farms or trade, without the compulsion to die mummified in the Sahara desert or at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea as fish food, and sold as slaves in transit in Libya; in order to reach Europe so as to fulfil a life ambition of becoming a dish washer, road sweeper or taxi driver etc. to the white man or otherwise end up as despised thugs and criminals from this country that shamefully populate the prisons and death rows of Europe and the Americas.

It is my dream to be free of the ppl who contribute little but regard others as lazy and parasites.

This is very good. Let the country split. We are all tired of each other. If only we have more Northeners like you, Nigeria would be a thing of the past. The country must split so everyone will develop at their pace and comfort.

Unfortunately this is a myth your leaders use to distract your attention from their monumental looting of your very own commonwealth and our elites who constitute only a handful directly benefiting and therefore addicted the so called oil money; however, as for the majority of northerners you lot might as well go and drown in your oil because the said oyel money hardly trickles down to them; its absence or presence therefore means nothing to the common man; only our ruling class who benefit still crave for this oyel; even they too are now beginning to come on board appreciating the advantage of our other potentials.

Keeping deceiving yourself because while you continue to remain stuck in 'our oyel' mentality, the north is strategising and preparing itself for the inevitable break up - it is already heavily investing in agriculture, solid minerals, alternative energy (hydro & solar) and as well as exploration of its own oil and gas (Borno, Benue, Niger & Sokoto).

Soon the north would complete consolidating its position and no individual or group would be in a position to threaten, blackmail or insult the region or its ppl - and the real parasites would then show themselves.

Yes indeed, as you can see many northerners are already buying into the idea, including some leadership elements e.g the Lamido of Adamawa spoke out at the 2014 national conference and more recently the Arewa Youth Coalition espoused same.

If you were not intellectually lazy and had used your brain to comprehend my post, you would have realised that what you just pasted completely supports my position; that only elites in the north benefit from the oyel money - in this case, Abacha being among them.
Interestingly, how do you presuppose the Abacha loot, saved in many foreign accounts was meant for the benefit of the north alone?
Finally, the myth about the so called Abacha loot has already been demystified by principal actors in the same military regime and in know of the motives behind it; however, only the southern media propaganda machinery are holding onto it and continue propagating it (through many easily fooled gullible individuals); General Ishaya Bamayi has no reason to support Abacha (who is not alive to defend himself against such unfair vilification) because was among those locked up and tried for treason (phantom coup) and on death row; yet he was recently quoted as saying that the money was being stash away in secret accounts to protect the govt and Nigeria from foreign sanctions (like Libya, Iran etc. were suffering at the time); he added that the decision was jointly taken by them i.e. members of the supreme military council.

Pls stop being silly and so myopic; how does the action of a single person, Abacha, represent's that of the entire north?

Secondly, was his government entirely ran by northerners at the exclusion of northerners?
Besides, if you were to examine who were his economic advisers you would find that they were mainly southerners - including those of previous regimes headed by northerners - pls stop this propaganda and show of stupidity.

We would be better off without a people who kill and maim others at the slowest provocation, destroying lives and property... But u had the audacity to talk about cannibalism and ritualist.

Abacha was a northern dictator who ruined the economy.
Blame the dictator and stop deflecting by pointing out other officials who simply obeyed orders from the maximum ruler / dictator.

Yes indeed; especially with an irredeemable group of dishonest co-travellers - absence makes the heart grow fonder; perhaps after going our separate ways some ppl may later come to appreciate our value; we already saw a glimpse of that when the Arewa Youths gave their ultimatum as some ppl quickly came back to their senses.

See what a whole Kaduna governor did because of suspension... And to man who housed and fed him when he needed support. Just ordinary suspension and he had to pull down the man's sweat and blood. He would have killed him had it not been for the ethnicity and probably the religious bond.
