Great approach. I also got the same answer by assuming he borrowed the first $60, made a profit of $10 and borrows another $70 to buy at $80 and resell at $90

After selling what for 60 at 70, he gained 10. He lost that 10 when he had to add an additional 10 to make 80 with which he bought it again. When he finally sold it at 90, he gained a new 10

He actually gained $20 from the total transaction but had pay back $10,if he borrowed the $10 for the second transaction .
All in all he gained $20.
