I really have passion in joining the. Nigerian police force. For now, I have OND in comp. Eng,, and with that I can join as an inspector (based on findings)

So I want to know the min. number of years it would take for one to be promoted from Inspector to ASP..

In the Nigerian Military u have about 4-5yrs to get promoted.

In the Nigerian Police Force , I am not really sure cos I hv heard about officers that have spent about 10yrs or more in one rank...

Normally it is 3 years intervals but some certain things can cause delay

Go to the nearest police station and ask them for accurate information.

Promotion in NPF is very fast.

Be diligent and accelerated promotion may also come in to play. But wait!! hope say no b revenge u carry 4mind?

Op, go for ur BSc, then come back and take the ASP. U will do better spending that 3/4yrs in school than spending it harassing innocent commuters at Ayobo bus stop for 50naira!

4-6 years interval however, alot are still there on their 7-8th year. Advice increase your certificate to like BSC and go for different course at police college.

The promotion examination isn't an easy thing also. Promotion is however not always based on the promotion exam always.

Being promoted from Inspector to ASP is the most difficult and lengthy of all the ranks, but after that it will come back to like 4-5 years per rank.
I know many who carried their inspector ranks for above 10 years and only about 2 personso that carried it for less than 6 years.
Besides, there is still quota system when it comes to promotions in Nigerianew police.
