Hi Guys, I'm currently in a confused state. Maybe those that have assessed as accountants and auditors would be able to advise me better on the way forward with the below.

I got my CPA assessment result and while they assessed my ICAN as being equivalent to Australian BSc, they assessed my Bsc from UNN as not being equivalent to their Bsc but associate degree. The issue however is that I only just got inducted to ICAN last year, hence I will not be able to claim experience points as they start counting experience from when one's result is assessed as being equivalent to Australian Bsc.

I have 5 years of experience and this would mean me forfeiting the whole years, hence my point dropping to 65, rather than the planned 75. I had planned going for state nomination to up it to 80 but apparently this wouldn't be the case anymore.

Should I assess with another body? (CA ANZ in this case), to see if they would recognise my BSc as being equivalent to Australian Bsc, or should I just take the result as it is and move on with my life by trying Canada or so. Cos there's no way I'm getting PR with 65 points as an external auditor, not even with state nomination.

Your inputs would be really appreciated please. Thank you. cc bellong, praiseisgood and all others that can advise.

Something of that sort. It says since the experience is not up to 12 months yet from when I became an ACA (May 2017), it can't be assessed.

Good afternoon house, so a few days ago, I was playing around state nominations and filled EOI for state nominations, I just assumed it takes a while to come through. I filled for victoria.

Got an email this morning for victoria nominations shocked shocked shocked . We've been give 7 days to submit result of the EA assessment, which we don't have yet. We did priority assessment and today makes the 15th working day after submission. So almost certain we can't meet up with the 7 days to submit assessment report.

I hope this hasn't jeopardised anything. Though the email says if we don't submit in 7 days we'll need to put in another application.

Just a bit nervous.

Oh.. maybe the accountants that assessed with other bodies can give better opinion on what to do.

Rewrite the English test for a band score that will award you 20 points.. 8 in each band for IELTS or 79 in PTE.

Thanks Bellong. What about NSW state nomination. Can i subscribe to that as electronics points has increased to 70points since last year and what i would have by 14th march is 65points, that's if i get 20 points for English test

Yea, I got my superior here (20 points). You don’t have to travel to Naija just to take PTE. It’s same test....Good luck bro!

Nigerians do get superior English proficiency in Aussie. Your own result is not bad.
Re: General Guide To Australian Permanent Resident Visa Through Skilled Migration. by 00francis: 3:23pm On Feb 22, 2018
Hello Brethren,

I have done PTE in Sydney and Scored 90 in all bands on the second attempt. First Attempt was 84 75 82 85 LRSW. So Australia is the only place I actually got the speaking. Had 2 tests in London(Speaking was around 50 & 60) and 1 test in Nigeria(all bands had useless results). So please do not be discouraged...It is possible.

Can't say i did anything special or used any materials different from what is obtainable here. Frankly i was just tired from all the English wahala. Between 2016-2017 i took 9 IELTS Test (6 In UK and 3 in Sydney). In all these tests they were claiming my writing was poor alternating between 7 &7.5 while other bands were always alternating between 8, 8.5, and 9. I believe i appealed 4 of the results, which proved to be a colossal waste of time and money. There was a particular result IELTS withheld for an extra 2 weeks after all results were released, saying they were checking the integrity of the scores( i would like to believe i had 9 in all bands to warrant the stress, but it was eventually released as LRWS 9, 9, 7.5 & 8.5. So i completely lost faith in IELTS.

I was only motivated to sit for PTE when my friend came back with an 85 in speaking here in Sydney. It hit me...ah ah! I speak English pass Chuks na...SO YES YOU CAN!

I guess what worked for me was going in there with a mentality that this was really the last test. Mic positioning is important and i used stresses in my speech(sounding like Oyibo). I kept talking even when i was talking rubbish in the describe image part...basically don't stutter, just keep flowing( don't overuse fillers like uhmm, you know...and others).

I cant say i practiced a lot because after the first attempt, you'll basically have no motivation to study...after all being Nigerians, we've been speaking English all our lives, so what else is there to study.

I believe the most important part of this journey is believing you can do it...and having that conviction that i am not coming back here for a repeat.

I am not sure if assessing with CA ANZ will make any difference. I assessed with them and my ICAN wasn't considered but my first degree was assessed as equivalent to Australian BA. I will just advise that you go through your school's syllabus and CA ANZ website to be sure the courses you did are in sync with those required.

Truly, I feel for we Accountants/Auditors but if you can afford it, a shot at Canada won't be a bad idea as Accountants are in 'demand' there.

It is well.

@ZIBE

Is it possible for you to make use of the Associate Degree while still claiming points for your work experience or was it expressly stated in the Assessment Report that you cannot use the Associate Degree equivalence? You will only lose 5 points and get 10 points for "other award recognised by assessing authority". Someone here shared a story that he got a grant with an assessment outcome that read Associate Degree though not accountant.

Could you please share the exact words from the assessment outcome? So far, I have been moving progressively with the Canadian PR but my heart is with the Aussie.

Thank you.

Please I have a question

When you have an ITA and you have done the online application, do you go for biometrics ( like photo capture and fingerprint capture) Do you also submit hard copies of your original document.
PS: Do you go to any physical office like other visa centres to submit your documents?
