You Should Never Remove Your Car Thermostat To Avoid Overheating. by autojosh: 6:58am On Feb 25, 2018
A lot of Nigerian car owners have fallen victims of removing their car thermostat just after they bought their car.

Many incompetent mechanics succeeded advising a lot of people wrongly to tamper with this thermostat of a thing.

Before we proceed, let’s know the basics about this thermostat and what it does in our cars.

The thermostat sits between the engine and the radiator for every liquid-cooled car engine. Its work is to block the flow of coolant to the radiator until the engine has warmed up. When the engine is cold, no coolant flows through the engine. In other words, it ensures the engine is running at its optimal temperature.

Removing the thermostat from any car isn’t a good idea. It simply complicates issues and makes things worse for your car.

Removing the thermostat will simply make the engine to over cool. That is bad. It will increase fuel consumption, as the engine CTS (coolant temperature sensor) will assume the engine’s not up to normal operating temperature, and simply inject more fuel in. This will cause premature engine wear, as the excess fuel will wash the oil from the cylinder bores (bore wash).

Removing the thermostat is similar to a doctor removing an important organ in the body.

We stand to oppose the removal of this thermostat in cars all in a bid of overcoming your car from overheating.
Have your car checked properly to know why it overheats.

An overheating engine could be caused by a myriad of problems – blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head / block, thermostat stuck in the shut position, a clogged radiator, inoperative cooling fan or even the wrong fuel / spark plug grade.

Wrong in the absence of a cooling system engineer... please remove the freaking thermostat until you meet one. Don't ruin your car. Thermostats are important no doubt but your engine's life is more important

I've always Wondered why those mechanics insist on removing the thermostat.

The day my mechanic removed the thermostat on my golf, I wasn't so happy with him at all.

He gave me the theory that thermostat in cars is mainly for cold regions like Europe but not needed in hot regions like ours.

The theory sounded lame to me.

But then what do I know?

What if the over heating happens as a result of how the creative was built (for cold countries) and it was imported to Nigeria?

Some parts of the United States are just as hot as Nigeria yet they don't remove thermostat. I've been using my car since 2013 and it works perfectly well with the thermostat intact. Before I agree with my mechanic on anything, I mostly check the internet and this has really helped.

Thermostat almost ruined my dad's car with constant overheating!!..... After the removal, the car has never had a single episode of overheating in 3yrs and the engine is in perfect condition till date.... No issues at all...

This thermostat ish is kinda confusing oooh...

**modified **

If truely Innoson cars have thermostat[like someone said here], then i wonder why imported cars with thermostat develop overheating issues..... Or maybe they weren't actually "tweaked" for our environment.... I'm certain car manufacturers consider climate conditions when manufacturing cars for a particular region....

The cars we import from countries with Snow weren't actually made for countries without snow... I'm aware that cars used in places like UAE are specifically made to suit their "very Hot" Environment....

Thermostat have ruined several cars here in 9ja with constant overheating..... Once removed, the overheating stops instantly and the engine becomes sane again... I've seen first hand what that thing does to cars in this region...

I THINK CARS ARE MADE FOR EVERY REGION. THE DUBAI GUYS DON'T DRIVE TOKUNBO CARS. JUST LIKE IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS WHEN WE HAD CARS BUILT FOR NIGERIAN ROADS. SO IT IS OVER THERE.

YOU CAN'T BRING IN A CAR FROM FINLAND TO NIGERIA AND EXPECT THE CAR TO BE NORMAL.
