The Uber driver picked the car on sunday. We assumed payment will start by the end of the week.
Only for the driver to call on tuesday morning to say the car was overheating and had stoppeded with a rider in transit. We couldn't believe it. Kilode?. He had taken it to his mechanic scanned the car. Told him the car had wiring issue and series of other issue, but what was more shocking was that the car was right hand changed to left hand. Jesus!!! My heart sunk.
From all I have read such change can only be done well by the manufacturer. But this one was done here in Nigeria.
We were sad but what else can we do. We started spending money change this, change that, rewire was done. Still wasnt looking good,, as for 2weeks the uber driver couldnt remit any money to us.
I called the car45 agent.
"U didn't tell us this car was changed from rigth wheel to left....

After gnashing our teeth and biting our nails in regret. We knew we had lost. It was a bad buy. We had to get it off our hands and count our loss.
We took the car to CARS45 with their report to sell it. The agent had told us they would buy it for at least 1.4m if we are lucky we can get more. Even though that was less than what we paid for it and had also spent money fixing. We were ready to sell it for that.
On Monday we took it to cars45 office. To sell it.
They looked at it, drove its a long distance. We got back to their office, they look at it again. And proceeded to give use the report .
This car is 2008model it was only upgraded to 2011
(Omg. Which kind wahala be this)
But we where not told, infact your report shows...

they gave us a new report
This new report showed the car was in a very bad shape.
Mind you it is the same company that had given the first report when we bought it from them.
After the report
They offered us 650 for the car

As much as i don't wish to blame the victim, I do have to say that you don't seem particularly auto savvy, to have paid that much for a Nigerian used vehicle, without due diligence. These guys played in your enthusiasm and your less than average auto knowledge.

The second they said you couldn't test drive, you should have just called it quits. There were SO many red flags in this entire sordid experience.

The vehicle was driving position converted? And had all these other issues?

I don't know why but I am still Pro-Cars45 (sort of).
Maybe because I know cars are treated like poop in Nigeria and I will go into the venture with the mindset that EVERYTHING is wrong with the car and I am getting it for a commensurate price.

But I am sharing this because I know they work on people psychology and because it is a big company it is easier to become their victim. Like I stated I am sharing this experience to alert other people interested in patronizing this people.
2 weeks after we sold to them. A man called dh, ( I dont know how he got his number) he had just bought the same car from cars45 and he was calling to ask questions, because just a day after buying. The car issue seems unending. He told us he paid 1.4.
So me sharing this experience is benevolence so others will learn. Please shine your eyes!!!!

Argh! They must have given him the 2011 year of manufacture report they gave to you.
Did you actually sell the car for 650k?
Tell him to slip several notes into the car, undersea, fuse box, sunguard and the likes... Then sell back to cars45 so next buyer too can have an heads up if lucky to check any of those places while inspecting.

At the very least you should have run YOUR own scans in the vehicle. The very least.

What legit auto salesperson wouldn't permit a buyer to at least start and drive the vehicle? Scoff

Unfortunately this experience was as a result of a rather naive buyer and a dubious, shady salesperson.

The difference here would be that the buyer had the best intentions and the seller had the exact opposite.

I apologise for your experience. There has to be a way to gain a greater audience for this experience. If it's happened once, then it's happened dozens of times.

My exact sentiments...pay 1.6m of hard earned cash for a Nigerian used vehicle that you know nothing of its history...if they took the money they spent on fixing the car,added a little change to it and got it up to say 2m...I believe they will get a clean foreign used (tokunbo) 2008 or 2009 toyota corolla...its for business,they will likely make their money back...or at least with 1.5m they can get a lower model of the toyota corolla,make some money with it,then upgrade..

I must commend op for this post. I have always suspected a thing or two about cars45. Their packaging is too real and fantabulous to be true. At least this is an eye opener. Due diligence is the keyword. I still think it's fraudulent to package and sell a 2008 corolla as 2011. It's fraud. They can actually be taken up on that. I really don't know why Nigerians can't be straightforward in their dealings. Is it that difficult to be honest?

towards the end of last year went to that same garage at ikeja close to the fun park ..to see a Honda pilot that someone had advertised ..to be honest I was not impressed with the cars I was shown and mind you I did not even see the exact pilot that was advertised they kept showing me different ones ...thank God I know a thing or three about cars..one of their strategies is that there is no space created to test drive ur pdt and also that hall is poorly lit. In the end I just strolled over to the park by the side cooled my already annoyed self with a bottle of beer and left no arguments ....@op so sorry for your loss I know how painful loosing such huge amount is but I strongly believe that such dubious methods of repackaging and selling unfit cars should not be encouraged....If a big company like cars 45 should practice such ,how much more others ? Then @ op next time since you do not have much knowledge about cars pls take an experienced trusted hand with you. Also if it's very cheap then shine your eye like Dino melaye

On the same car these guys are gonna turn over several millions! It wouldn't have been so bad if they are selling what they claimed to be selling! Chai! Thank you OP for bringing it here.
