Kjnwancaro: Cement costs 1900 on average for a bag of portland in Nigeria. This vehicle cost upwards of one and a half million naira. Those two items have very different levels of due diligence involved . You don't need to know everything about everything. Simply find someone who you can rely on and who's familiar with the merchandise. 10 Likes |

You may not know much about cars, but you certainly should know much about Nigeria. It's bad enough having to contend with shady sellers of Tokunbo vehicles, Nigerian used vehicles would be literally war. 9 Likes |

Ipfreely: I agree but is that enough reason to swindle people? A brand should never compromise its integrity and goodwill. Whew, ola mynd44 and lalasticlala biko push this thing ejo. I'm an average income earner, I would probably commit murder/suicide if I get in this kinda trap. Biko help create awareness. 6 Likes |

Ipfreely: It’s not a non sequitir. A product is a product. The reason why you don’t have to test a torchlight at Shoprite is because they stand behind their products and you can bring it back if it doesn’t work as advertised. I’m a licensed dealer in California , there’s no requirement to start a car or provide a test drive. I’ve bought at least 5 vehicles personally where test drives were not allowed. You asked a question and I answered you. I owe you no apology if it doesn’t meet your standard. 12 Likes |

EgunMogaji: I disagree with the assertion that a product is a product. A torch would not require the level of due diligence an automobile would. But there's no battle here. Just some friendly banter. You've made your point and I've made mine. I think it's up to the readers to judge which line of thought is more rational. Oh, and I didn't ask for an apology, don't need one, and probably wouldn't even provide one if it were requested. As an afterthought. 14 Likes |

Ipfreely: I have no interest in apologies from online usernames. Not how I roll. You’re right no battle. Again, you asked a question and I answered you. Not a popularity contest, no interest in seeking acknowledgement from anyone. 2 Likes |

sisisioge: There's never 'enough reason' to swindle people. This experience was fraud, it's that simple. It's just a matter of time before these shady practices come back to haunt them. However, if, as has been pointed out, a seller choses to decline a reasonable start and test drive request, and the buyer is uncomfortable with the arrangement, do yourself a favour and move on. There have to be TONS of places to purchase used vehicles. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Re: How Cars 45 Ripped Us Off by Nobody: 2:51pm On Feb 27, 2018 |
Kjnwancaro: The Shoprite analogy is to showcase a company that stands behind its product. No more no less. I won’t allow test drives but that’s not the issue here. Solution is not on Nairaland but in a Lagos court. All we’re doing here is just solacing the aggrieved. 3 Likes |

The problem here isn’t about test driving or running a scan. Cars 45 is a ‘big company’ that are supposed to be trusted and credible (this is where they took advantage of the buyer) and it is not the Ops fault that it turned out otherwise. If the Op was buying a car parked on the road side then the case would be different. OP, pls take this people to court if you have the money. 17 Likes |

Even if the car was bought from a curber, the buyer still deserves to get what was advertised and if not then the judicial branch was created to get satisfaction. This is clear and present fraud regardless of where it was propagated. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Ipfreely: I agree op. But it not like we were novice at least dh is not, having bought and used other cars. But this people work on your psychic, for one the place is not well lit, and they say they dont test drive. One customer that went with his mechanic ended up with a much worse car. Let us learn from this, deception is legal in this country and our judicial system and regulatory body turns a blind eye 4 Likes 1 Share |

Re: How Cars 45 Ripped Us Off by bravolad(m): 7:39pm On Feb 27, 2018 |
Hayastark: I disagree with you on this. I can't buy a used car without the opportunity of a test drive, even if it's from Elizade. And considering that truth is turned upside down, once you deny me an opportunity to test drive, I walk away. No arguments. However, your perception of the judicial system is also wrong. You have got evidence to support your claim. Some law firms will take the case for free & perhaps, share profit if the case goes in your favour. I think you should seek justice if your narrative is anything to go by. When buying a used car in Nigeria, a test drive is a mandatory requirement. 9 Likes 1 Share |

the EAGLE has landed! u know the funny thing? I think I commented on a post recently about one dealer hu I think might be connected to this cars45..... he posted two different threads of an 08 Honda accord and in less than 24hrs both cars were sold. now the coincidence of selling both cars in such outstanding time wasn't the main focus, my concern was the price for both cars that were sold as extremely faultless and the texture of the background the pictures were taken! the cars were jampacked in a closed roofed confinement, the thing weak me and I just perm myself politely ask the guy hafa the miraculous sale. I've said it several times...... if its too good to be true, it probably isn't. and yes there are some peeps that I would buy Nigerian used cars from without test driving them, people that have overtime; proven that their reputation precedes them and their names are more important than their turnover.... this is the main reason why I love and encourage what ipfreely is doing here in auto section.. it is because Nigeria is Nigeria that is why its important to test drive a used car before parting with cash..... IT IS NOT THE NORM. I repeat, IT IS NOT THE NORM! we can create that environment here on nl where people, dealers and Whatnots will be very conscious of what they post here, if not for anything but for fear of bashing! surely they will gather, but if their gathering is to victimize, swindle and defraud naive people..... we can make them scatter; Together! 23 Likes 2 Shares |

I'd it were me, I wouldn't have given them the luxury of selling that car back to them! I'd have looked for a way to fix the vehicle..... so many pros here on nl can do justice to the situation out of sympathy! I'm sure they were banking on the fact that u will return vehicle and they will eat their cake and have it! can u imagine how many times they have recycled that vehicle for non interest income? kai ...... smh u lost home and away! lemme find that thread where I blew the whistle but snake had swallowed peoples hearing or reading as the case may be 6 Likes 2 Shares |

obekediamondfuto: Giving it back is not the issue, giving it back at a loss is the issue. Any serious sales entity should be able to give a full refund less fees for paperwork within 5 days /500 miles. But has to be something serious like what OP described. Steering swap is a biggie. I feel bad for the OP and I’m using this as a learning tool from a customer service perspective. Yes, our leaders are scientifically corrupt but I fear the average citizen more. Most are spectacularly gifted in defrauding fellow citizens. 12 Likes |
