Driving Hard Without Warming Up The Engine

It’s a blunder, especially in the winter season. The oil thickens and moves slowly when the weather is cold. Give the fuel a minute to run into the transmission and all of its parts. If you shift into gear and start driving at high speed from the beginning, it will lead to severe internal damage.
If you warm up your car before driving even in the winter season, you can get fined! Present day care don't need warming up, just get into your car and drive off.

Thanks for the info. No more neutral in traffic and slope

Is the last point low fuel or low fluid as I don't understand the relationship between transmission and fuel.

Hmmm this neutral on traffic, I'm guilty of it.

If the gear is on drive and you are holding d break, the car vibrates and always in the urge to move, small loss of leg tap on break u don jam person for front.

But if you put it in neutral, d vibration and movement urge stops, I can use my hand break to keep d car from rolling if in a hilly road.

Again, I was informed that if another car hits you while your gear is on drive and held stationary by break, your transmission gear teeth will be affected. So how do one avoid such?

Also, too much pressure while in traffic on the break deteriorates d break oil as it gets hot due to pressure

AutoReportNG:
An automatic transmission is, without a doubt, one of the greatest inventions in the car industry. Automatic car opens the whole new era for car owners thanks for the safety it provides. This car type is favored not only by the professional drivers but also by people with basic driving skills. However, does this greatest invention provide total safety for its driver? Sadly it is not.

7 Mistakes To Avoid When Driving An Automatic Transmission Car

Even though automatic transmission vehicle is amazingly safety, you should avoid a few things at any cost while steering the wheel. Here’s a list of 7 mistakes that can damage a vehicle badly and put the owner on the hook for some huge repair bills.

Sliding The Vehicle Down A Slope In The Neutral Mode

This habit won’t let you accelerate the car except for slowing it down. It cuts the oil supply, so the transmission does not get the proper lubrication for smooth operation. It results in significant wear and damage. For that reason, we recommend discarding this habit since the repair costs don’t worth the negligible fuel savings.

Revving The Engine Before Switching To The Gear

We all have done it as teenagers. But, don’t be that stupid because your parents are not going to pay the bills this time! It gives the transmission a massive shock that leads to more friction between the internal components, causing damage to engine parts.

Shifting Gears When The Car Is Rolling

It makes your transmission components to change direction rapidly, wearing out the gearbox at an astounding pace. Use your brakes instead to stop the vehicle. Some people shift into the Park without the pushing the brakes, which is also bad for the gearbox.

Keeping In Neutral At The Red Light

Many people do this to save fuel and protect the driveline from unnecessary wear. In fact, the loss is minimal if you push the brakes by keeping the gearbox in Drive mode. The actual damage takes place when you switch into and out of the neutral mode.

Switching To Parking Mode Before Completely Stopping The Car

Shifting to the Park mode will cause a locking pin to be inserted into a gear attached to the output shaft of the gearbox. The wheels are also connected to the same shaft. So, when you lock it and keep the vehicle rolling at the same time, there’s a risk of breaking the locking pin.

Keeping The Fuel Tank Low

An automatic car largely depends on fluid pressure to run properly. Fuel also helps a vehicle’s engine and other elements to stay cool and lubricated. So, these will wear out a lot faster if you continuously keep the tank low on fluid.

Quality information

Fortunately enough, car manufacturers thought ahead

So they made a counter-action for most these...

For instance, It is practically impossible to switch gears without depressing your brakes

Who told u this?? I have downshifted so many times on auto transmission while driving. Although its not a healthy practice

Yea learnt the neutral thing.

Bonus: don't drive past when a woman wants to cross in front of you

Stop, look at her ikebe and horn your appreciation.

It helps with the transmission on your body

Says who? You can shift gears without pressing any brakes.

Some of the tips are still generally useful. But in a fast-paced world of nowadays, oyinbo have improved automotive tech to cancel out many of the old car problems. While creating some new headaches of course.

Especially Benz E class cars really improved with their injection engines, of course borrowing from their initial injection racetrack cars. VW also harnessed the tech early.

Now very common in cars

Several schools of thought about shifting into neutral at a red light. The strain of shifting into N could wear the clutch plates further, and the reaction time in case of an emergency would be increased with the transmission in N.
However leaving it in D wouldn’t lead to transmission strain, as long as the hydraulic brakes and/or the mechanical brakes are engaged. There is negligible engine strain, however the strain would be on your feet, and the red lights could cause glare for the commuters at your rear, in addition the idle control valve would lead to increased air intake and fuel injection, to avoid stalling, leading to slightly increased fuel consumption.

In P, however, the parking pawl would be damaged with a rear impact, the strain of constant shifting would further soil the transmission fluid and wear the clutch plates. It also further increases your reaction time in case of an emergency.

It’s your decision, really.

@efesodje, thanks for expatiating on that particular point. I read it somewhere too that you don't need to allow cars with electronic injector engines to warm up before moving.

@AutoReportNG, kudos to you always, your posts are really informative. I always look forward to them.

P.S...@AutoReportN, I am guilty of shifting to neutral gear in traffic. I have learnt from your write up too. I will desist from doing that going forward.

Who told u this?? I have downshifted so many times on auto transmission while driving. Although its not a healthy practice
what makes it unhealthy,
when driving manual, you find out that its best to overtake when in gear 3(assuming your car uses gear 5).

So in automatic, there are times when you may need to downshift to D3, to get the car to have that extra power to overtake a car in front of you.

I don't see it as being unhealthy :-)
