Same issue bro, the business done cast, Uber cheap cheap fare ain’t worth it, also you hardly see surge during the week. Taxify is over saturated, anytime you check around you, you must see more than 10 cars awaiting requests as you, I pity the people buying new cars to enter the business.
This is eaxactly what u re talking about. There used to be 2 or 3 cars around this area, but now there are 10 cars. I don't want to buy d idea that d business is casted or saturated. Business is all about ability to work smart, compete and excel.

your write up is clear and it really does sound like you're a man on a mission.

some of the cars you mentioned makes me conclude your research is not yet complete especially considering you're willing to pay 50k weekly rentals. cars with max 1.8 engine size will be the best bet for you.

wish you the best in your endeavors

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, I understand your point hence my harping on the "ideal" clause. When the desirable isn't available (for whatever reason), the available becomes desirable (and must be made to work).

I've gotten some calls but all of them are yet to have their vehicles on ground (with most being vague about when the vehicle will be ready for the road-guess it may be due to financial constraint associated with clearing the vehicle and the like) while another that has just cleared his insisted on equity contribution (something I unfortunately cannot come up with for now). Considering I'm working within a set time-frame, I decided to still reach out to a wider community with the aim of finding that elusive principal who is ready right now to do business.

Going through this thread, it seems most investors are interested in only the "rental" aspect of the business, an angle I do not intend considering so, I guess I'll keep holding on hoping to find a principal willing to discuss business with me.

Bro about how much does it take to fix an issue like this? Plus is there any other damage below surface? i.e are there any long term repercussions?

Bro how far now? How request for your side ?

I dey bro. Me sef manage do 14k gross yesterday despite starting by 1pm and closed at 9:45pm.

I also believe the market is being flooded but it doesn't take anything away from the profitability of the business. No matter the "flood", I still make 40k net on Friday, Saturday and Sunday despite driving a Camry and I am one of the lazy drivers. If I was on rental, I wouldn't have a problem paying 40k, and keeping 30k for myself weekly.

I also have to admit the job is stressful even though I really love driving. Yesterday's work was back to back and my body is really feeling the brunt now. Spent around 3k on drugs this morning.

To prospective drivers that only hear about the money other drivers make, if you know in your mind that you don't have strength, please this job is not for you. Partners no go hear story sey your body dey pain you na why you no work oo.

Updated my app yesterday o, taxify. Everything going smoothly and jejely. Just now i dropped a rider at omole 11 from marina, ended the trip and the thing showed 1400. She was like wow! But there was traffic at oworosoki na? I said it's an app issue, she should pay thw 1400 and i will review the trip later, and see what's wrong. I was still at her gate doing the fare review. Then i click on the ride on the trips history, 2730 displayed. Immediately i called her and told her i just got the actual fare. She was inside already and ask me to send my account details so she do a transfer. Within 5mins it was done.... Make una warn taxify o, what nonsense

you re right, will start asking for rating, buh Nigeria is frustrating, I remember carry a lady from Maryland to ikeja, when we got to Allen Ikeja there was madt traffic this lady kept on grumbling, I tried to calming her down that Taxify calculates mainly on distance covered, she did not stop, it continued till we got to her destination, please tell me how she will rate me 5 star, it’s somehow using my money to buy car, do maintenance, buy fuel and still beg for ratings. embarassed embarassed embarassed

So on point sir!
Good analogy, I rent a 3 bedroom office apartment from my landlord for #1,200,000=00 a year, then set up my management consulting firm. Say CBN, Access Bank, Royal Exchange Group, Dangote PLC etc all give me consulting projects during the course of the year, leading me to turnover #100,000,000=00 in profit by the end of the year. Question - would that be a taboo? For me (driver) to earn more than my landlord (partner)? The excess cash flow generated, is it not a direct result of the hours of effort I put in?

Stop comparing real estate assets that appreciate in value astronomically to Uber cars that lose 50% of their values within 1yr.
