My mum insist I give my baby abidec multivitamin, and vitamin c 'to keep her healthy and immune against illness', when hospital hasn't asked me to (when I delivered). She has now gone ahead to buy it herself. undecided

Please is this safe? She's just 10 days old

It is not unsafe - it is just unnecessary.

Are you Exclusively breast feeding? If so tell her to buy you the breast feeding vitamins for you to Take and transfer to baby. Also ensure you are eating well and properly hydrated

Are you formula feeding?.... show your mum the pack with the loooooong list of minerals and vitamins on the formulae tin and compare it with the abidec to show her that She has just spent money unnecessarily. She could have invested that into a tin of baby formulae at least she is killing 2 birds with one stone that way. Baby fed and full of vitamins. grin

Sometimes grandmas although with the best intentions can be a handful, whilst you may want to indulge them attimes, you also need to let them know YOU call all the final shots when it comes to anything involving your baby. And your authority should not be undermined. NOTHING goes into your baby's mouth or o her without your permission or approval.

Your breastmilk contains all your baby needs to be strong and healthy. Just ensure your baby is eating well. There's really no need for the multivitamin and vitamin c but trust mummies with "you children of nowadays" talk.

It is safe. I used abidec then. I recently changed it to Reload cos my baby has passed the age of abidec.

Abidec has vitamin c (ascorbic acid). I don't think you should give her vitamin c in addition to the abidec multivitamin.

PS: my baby doesn't eat much

It might be forbidden in some part. Maybe cos her husband is still alive. Some cultures, the lady will have to take permission from her husband before cutting her hair and her husband must willingly and happily accept without being coerced.

They gave it to me at the hospital and asked me to give only if baby is not eating well, I still have them here unopened cuz my baby was born a foodie. Tho she's beginning to do sha Kara for food now. If your baby eats well just keep it by your bedside and pretend you're giving her everyday.

Blender.
Pick out only d leaves without stick. Wash and Cook with small 'kaun' till it's soft and pour into ur blender. Blend roughly till it draws. u can add ur locust bean with small salt before or after blending.Be sure ur blender can withstand d heat ist ooo so it doesn't crack. Been doing dis for d past 6 years and it always come out great.

You can equally blend before cooking sef. blend with little water (that's the trick to getting it to draw) and pour into pot to cook. adding kaun(potash) is optional in case one does not like it. It will still draw very well. remove from fire when the ewedu starts bubbling well.
