Learn to move around, don't b static if not they will see ur not confident.

I can remember when I was like that..
people would be like; "dont look at 'em faces", "with time you'd be used to it", "just burst before you climb that stage", blah blah blah.. but like this word ''j7tptpz'h", all na wash.-. i repeat, "all na wash".
.. after day to day encounter with area boys, mumu women inside bus and nonsense encounter with useless keke drivers wey wan charge u pass the normal t.port, stage fright and street-show-yourself fright was overcomed.
aspa ur case ba.. you just have to do somethings.
1. try to form a 'steady' voice while on stage.
2. don't look at people's faces.. look into their eyes.. this would make them uncomfortable.. and na better moral booster sef.
3. forget drugs..
4. make up ur mind say u come to "clear people doubt"
5. never ever cough before starting ur yarn when you've already climbed on stage.. as this would make the crowd focus on you more than they planned.
6. this is the most important point:
since you are a man, then be a MAN.

Op practice makes perfect. Just keep doing your thing without drugs with time you will get used to it.
Have you tried talking to yourself looking directly at your eye in the mirror?

It stops when you get used to coming on stage frequently. You can help a little by preparing very well before coming on stage so you don't make a fool of yourself, but still, the fear goes with you facing people regularly.

It's normal though. Someone might come to you with 10 ways, 20 ways, etc to overcome stage fright but my brother to be sincere with you, like AIDS, no one has gotten that cure yet. Yea, there are some people that are good orators but they're just like you. They faced the challenge of standing in a crowd instead of cowering away telling themselves they couldn't do it. Even Martin Luther King Jr rehearsed his 'I have a dream' speech over and over again cos he too wasn't 100% when it came to facing a crowd.
The first step to overcoming stage fright is to do it,do it again and again and again till you know you're better than the first time. I sing in my church and if somebody had told me years ago that I'll stand in front of over 200 people to sing, I'll call em a false prophet. But the day I was forced to do it, I told myself I could, I had lots of butterflies in my stomach kinda feeling and sometimes I still get that feeling but when I show up and hold that mic,all those 'fear of failing' feelings die off. I do it cos i know I'm preparing myself for a bigger crowd.
Give up trying to be perfect and know that it is okay to make mistakes. Be natural, be yourself. Take deep breathes and finally, SPEAK.

fright it self is a normal thing, but you must build confidence on something, either knowledge of the topic, vast knowledge, confidence on something which migjht be abstract. you just hope on something to excel through. must people build their confidence in the lord God because he never fails, try him too. one with God is majority, no science, no degree, no techniques pass him.

There's really no need using drugs before speaking in public.Truth is everyone, even well known public speakers faced stage fright at one point or the other.

But they overcame.

You can try reading books on public speaking OP.
Also try and be confident.

Practice in your room too or before friends before you give any lecture.
Practice makes perfect.

I understand your plight bro. Honestly it takes alot of determination, focus, control, and balance to overcome stage/audience fright. By the way abeg wats the name of the drug u take to control ur heartbeat pls

you have to start small by addressing few people


From being a group leader, to a class captain, course rep etc. You learn how to talk by talking and watch how others talk when they address people

Confidence & Self Esteem

Hmmm... OP i understand you cos i used to be like that too although it hasn't left me completely but i have improved over the years. Here's a tip i got from someone which has really been helpful to me especially in my final year in Uni days during times of individual and group presentations as well as project defence.

The tip is: whenever you're facing a croud or audience, never look at their faces. Instead, be looking at their hair, caps, gele, etc, or few inches above their head and you should be moving around while making the presentation also, never stand still at one place .. They will think you're actually looking at them but you are actually not. This way, you would be more confident. And also, stop the drug cos its not good for your health and could have later effects on your heart in future. Peace!

To be a good public speaker you must overcome the pressure emanating from eye contact . First, try have non competitive talks like in primary or secondary schools . By doing this u 'll become stronger.
