I won't say much.

Most of the criticism aimed at Lukaku was very unfair and unreasonable.
He is new to the club and needed to get acquainted with his teammates and the playing style. But people kept savaging him here. Some called him a waste of money.
Now he has become a largely lethal weapon for us. He bullies defenders, his strength is phenomenal, his footwork is above average and he contributes immensely to our forward play either by his off the ball movement or his link up and build up play. Suddenly the critics won't be magnanimous enough to say they got it wrong.

The stats master knows himself. He is never wrong and is prepared to drag an argument all year if need be. I don't know what kind of person has that amount of time to waste but when someone thinks they are always right, I can't imagine that that person has a social life. The fellow went ahead to state how United were playing well vs Palace to the point where Valencia and Young were substituted ad proceeded with his foolish epistles but fellows here are becoming more aware and didn't engage him too much.

Like I said I won't call anyone's name. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I respect a number of folks in here, and I know they are a lot smarter than myself. In the area of punditry I be small boy but even at that sometimes we tend to go overboard.

Jose deserves every criticism he gets but even that has to be laced with perspective.

I'm not against criticism.
I'm just for balanced, constructive and reasonable criticism.

My point is that some of what we see here qualifies for hate speech literally.

Yeah, seems you have someone else in mind. Smelly's words about Lukaku months ago were acerbic.

But Lukaku's performance in some games in the past were indeed substandard, maybe cos he was trying to improve. He received lots of flake cos of the city game and cos people don't think he's a Man Utd kinda player.

He's developed his all round game though, and that's why the criticism has toned down.

I did mention that he won almost all of his aerial contests against Sevilla's defenders in the first leg, something he used to be poor at. It's that ability that won us the Liverpool game.

I think he should keep focusing on getting better, esp. outside the box. His goal tally will rise substantially after that upgrade.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by BushWickBill: 8:44am On Mar 11, 2018
Gary Neville that talks all the talk couldn't do anything at Valencia.
Souness was an even worse manager. At least Neville ventured outside Britain.

Carragher knows he is lane and won't venture into coaching. He's probably too dumb to even try.

E dey easy to form pundit on faceless forum. Including those who carry stats upandan to show they are intelligent.

I'll just leave it there.

We savage people (myself inclusive) as if they are the finished product and that they can't deliver better than we see them at eye level.
For all it's worth there is a lot to what we see that meets the eye. That's what should guide us as we criticize.
Life is more than what we see. There is a lot going on that we as fans and supporters are not party to.

Yes Lukaku was poor. But we don't know the overall circumstances that played a role in his form. I've never really doubted his ability. I just felt he was a bit mechanical and static, but he is proving me wrong by beasting games. With the right blend of tactics and personnel he will be unplayable.

I agree with you. But we're different from each other. Some people believe we'll be better off with Moyes and Lee Cattermole. Others don't. And they won't agree with the idea of 'toning down the criticism.

We won Liverpool yesterday but we didn't really show appreciation for the win. If we'd lost that game we'd still be debating why something did or didn't happen. There are supposedly Man Utd fans who only show face to gloat or censure players whenever we lose games.

We have seen a discernible improvement in Lukaku's abilities, but I still believe he can do better, especially when playing a ways from the opponent's box.

No wahala.
Thanks.
I'm surprised nobody has crucifiedMata for that miss at the end of the first half.
But it's all good though. The important thing is that we learn to appreciate our squad for what it's worth.

The team selection was spot on yesterday, I was surprised Bailly played since he had not played enough games prior to yesterday.
Young had one over me and others who think he shouldn't be starting although I still prefer Shaw.
Matic - McTonimay looked solid, we didn't miss Pogba and to be honest, Pogba might have cost us the game if he was fit cos of his lackadaisical attitude on the pitch.
Rashford seems to me like he has gotten his mojo back with his beautifully taken goals.
Lukaku did well, glad to see him improving his aerial ability, for his size, he should be doing better.
Sevilla are next, Pogba and Martial should be back, the big issue now is; do we opt for a midfield 2 or 3?

I think Sevilla are a different proposition entirely.
But trust Jose to start conservative

I'd keep Pogba out of the side for now. It's amazing thatJose hasn't figured how best to deploy him for nearly two years. Right now I'd start with the side that played yesterday minus maybe Mata wide.

Trust me Lukaku will improve. He's endured a lot of stick and I'm sure he doesn't want to go through that again.
