I'm Yoruba ,i had my formative years in the north ...Kano precisely ....I attended a private school and we were taught Hausa ...its been more than 20 years ,we've relocated down south and I still speak Hausa , there is nothing bad in learning the language of the region you want to be fully interegrated into.....truth be told most indigenous Nigerian Languages are going extinct especially the ones down south ....i have two nephews born and bred in Lagos that can't speak Yoruba , its the same with my Igbo brothers ....it's a shame

While Rivers state school wont give u admission if you dont have credit in ikwerre or igbo or ijaw.

While Imo state schools wont give u admission if you dont have a credit in igbo.

its not everyone who speaks yoruba that can write it as well as they speak it.

We all know the ONLY tribe that will be foaming in the mouth about this beautiful law..Before they open their uneducated mouth, 2 states in Biafra ALREADY have a law similar to this but ppl hardly know because we all respect our hosts and the preservation of their culrure. Lest i forget, wasnt it abia states that terminated all non-abian igbos from their civil service appointments, charity begins at home!!!

I am not against anybody preserving his or her tribe&culture but isn't this just pure tribalism? Would it be of any help if other states do the same? There are lots and lots of Yoruba students in almost all institutions in the North, how would it sound if those institutions put forth a law to stop admission of students who don't understand Hausa or the indigenous language of that place?
So they think is by doing this one that they can prevent Yoruba language from dying or make it grow? nawa o. SMH
