IMO state is the most educated state in Nigeria there is no debate on that

Igbos are the most educated tribe followed by the old bendel state and then the yourubas

Anyone who thinks otherwise is just lying to himself
Ode, if Imo state is the most educated state in Nigeria, where would Ekiti be?

The only advantage I think the SW has is the private schools.

They have the best private univesities in the country.

That is one area I feel the igbo intelligentsia should focus on.

Private universities are the future.
We are getting there, with the number of private schools springing up in the east..it can only get better...even at that, the same tactics will still be applied in private schools..divide the numbers in non Igbo areas admission by at least 30percent which could be more, considering that private school admission is by ability to pay plus ur jamb...No catchment area, no complusory yorubas credit in waec etc, while holding admission in our zone by at least 90% or share with our direct neighbours in the delta region.

Who cares? The same people that like to cry "marginalization" all the time. The ones who want an Igbo president, but know the average Nigerian is highly distrustful of Igbos. The ones crying for a Biafra Republic that includes Niger-Delta territories when those communities want nothing to do with Igbos. That is who should care.
Excessive boastfulness and arrogance are often signs of deeper insecurities. If you have to blow your own trumpet all the time, it is worthless and you only draw sneers and scorn rather than recognition.

Let those who care, care, I do not care. What I care about is statistics like the one on this thread.

Quality private schools is the key here.

I like covenant university, and i envy it a lot.

It is better than any private university in the East.

It would take serious level of investment to get something of that quality.

I am saddened that the SE is lagging in this.

Rivers state is dominated by the igbos politically right from 1999 and still they cannot make the list even if we extend it to ten. Delta State that is dominated by the Urhobos politically and otherwise is among the list. The old Bendel state comprises of Edo and Delta and when it was formal Bendel state, the binis and the Urhobos dominated it both educationally and politically.
The igbos in delta are the second largest tribe in Delta and with 9 local governments while Urhobos has 8 local governments but still yet, the Urhobos dominates the State University in terms of lecturers and students.

All tribes in Delta according to their numbers values education except the ijaws which are coming up now.

A deltan igbo won't say this bullshit you just said.

Delta cannot be split by you people.

Urhobos
Deltan Igbos
Isokos
Ijaws
Itshekiris
are all one. Don't split us.

Edo that don't have igbos took fifth and third position.

Where is Rivers State.

Bendel state is an educated state not because igbos are in delta but because we value education.

The first SAN from Bendel is an Urhobo man.

Nobody is dividing anyone, but you can't separate the history of Anioma from Anambra.

Am sure if they mention CHUKWUMA NZOGWU and first military coupe in Nigeria, you call him an Igbo man?...you would gladly divide the Delta to shame Ibo? undecided

Who United you at first,if I may ask?

We can not base the history of Nigeria on what Gowon did in deliberately alienating Igbo from their keens in South South.
Is it Gowon that determines the map of Nigeria?

I am an Igbo man. But I wont celebrate this.

Every nation usually have an ideology. This ideology is their driving force and it is what propels them as a nation for surmount all challenges that come their way.

While American political ideologies are variations on classical liberalism. As a result, these ideologies tend to be very similar: Almost everyone in the United States, for example, believes in limited government, the free market, and individual liberty, the British Empire was founded and maintained for purposes of trade and done so by private interest with the government providing support and encouragement where and when needed. The Swedish ruling party is Høyre. The party is committed to fiscal free market policies, including tax cuts and relatively little government involvement in the economy. It does, however, support the continued existence of the Norwegian welfare state.

But in our dear nation we have been talking about UNITY. Our ideology has been UNITY.

In Oct 2018, Nigeria will be 58 years. If this nation had been a butterfly, unfortunately we are still in eggs stage. We have not even hatched to the Larva stage.

It is true that these states produced the highest number of Medical Doctors. By the questions I will ask are

1. How many of them stay back to practice in NIgeria.
2. Most of these brilliant minds are subjected to be under so called graduates from educationally less developed states. Why?
3. After the hectic and arduous task of obtaining these degrees, what is the state of hospitals they will later work in?

My position is that we should not celebrate this. It is not an achievement because even the elites do not even appreciate the efforts of these students.

Why? You may ask. The case of our President and his son comes to mind. No Nigerian doctor is qualified to treat our elites. So why wasting our time? They wont fund our education.

WAY FORWARD

Let us all be involved. 2019 is by the way. Another avenue to exercise our franchise. How many youths on Nairaland have obtained their PVC?
And if you have obtained, are ready to vote?
Lets get our nation back.

Most of these our politicians have less than 20 years to live, but their actions can affect us for a century.

Thanks 2019 we have to be fully involved to elect people that will take us to true civilization

You are looking at it wrong.

It is more or less a case of residence. There are lots of igbos living outside the East, going to schools either in the west, north, middle belt, south south based on the proximity to their location.

Are you now telling me because of this, schools like futminna is better than futo, or Unilag is better than Unn because there are igbos there?

The point was that the SW has the highest concentration of quality schools in the country. By far. This is why Yorubas are less likely to travel out to other regions to study. Why would you want to go to Unizik or Unimaid when 3 of the best schools in the country, UI, OAU and Unilag are in the SW, and even Unilorin is an emerging top institution, and you have the best private schools in the country. They have more options than Igbos which is why they don't travel as much.

If you leave them unchecked, we may just wake up one day to find they've taken over the country.

What would have happened if they didn't fight a war or if Biafra was allowed to go?
It's funny how my Southwest friends always beat their chests about how they are the most educated , urbane and sophisticated this and that.

I always remind them that they are living in past Glory of the Awolowo free education era.
I remind them that since the late 70's, some mere 10 yrs after the civil war, the Southeast have led in higher educational enrollment year after year right up to this day.
While it is still true that the southwest have more professors, accountants and perhaps more lawyers, I cannot say the same for any other field .

Stop supporting Obiano blindly. I'm not saying Obiano is the worst governor but call him out where he's not measuring up to expectation. He's failing the education sector.

Calm down, Premium Times said they obtained data foe the three fields ie Medicine, Engineering and Law. They'd soon publish all and I'm sure you'd be disappointed.

Meanwhile, I did analyse those three with data from JAMB years ago on Nairaland. Here's the link - https://www.nairaland.com/541929/ndubuisi-ekekwe-afrit-africas-infotech/1#7051485

The Igbos caught up with and overtook the Yorubas way back in the 1930s. The statistics is all out there for everyone to see.

Do your own bit of research and you will still find out that Yorubas have the highest numbers of profs. There is no competition here,my bros. You can even simply open each school's website to verify.

Unilorin is not a Sw School.

You forget that the general syllabus is more or less the same.

I don't see what exactly makes unilag better than Unizik.

They have more diversity, I will give you that. But it still bores down to the lagos factor.

Lagos is an economic hub with lots of non indigenes who want their Children to school near, and so then apply to Unilag, oau e. T. C just like an igbo based in Minna may find futminna enticing.
I don't see any reason why someone based in enugu close to the prestigious UNN would apply to OAU.

In fact, your argument is like saying British schools are better than German schools because they have more diversity.

My brother you are right

Just last night I was discussing with my father who attended UI in the 60s just as I did and I was telling him that the West had the first university UI, secondary CMC bariga where i wrote my JAMB and primary schools so they are the most educated.
He sat up and said that in his time as in other sets the majority of students where Igbos, Bendelites then other faraway Yorubas like maybe Ekiti, Ondo

And as records show in WAEC, NECO, JAMB and even abroad, Igbos and Bendelites are the most educated.

I'm sincerely sorry for sounding bias or tribalistic I am very sorry. I can never run down any tribe or place. Even though I'm speaking from research and experience. I love every part of Nigeria and I think such revelations by JAMB or others is not to run any part of Nigeria down be it Yobe, Zamfara or FCT but to set facts right and encourage everyone.

Please oh God bless and keep Nigeria in Jesus name, amen.
Please we are one
