Any right thinking government will know this is a very tactical plunder. How can you increase what has a rippling effect on the general well-being of its citizens.A country where an average citizen earn less than a dollar a day. Its so annoyiny and disgusting at this time ,when poverty is at its peak. The economy is down, loss of jobs everywhere, we don't want reduction, it should b cancelled in all its ramification.

Good!
This goes to show that the power of government rest in the hands of the people.
We must take a cue from Lagos and apply this principle to the man in aso rock to step down and go back to duara before he turns Nigeria to somalia.

It should be scrapped because it's just a way to source for funds for Ambode re election after Tinubu must have taken his massive cuts.
Let them look for other means of sourcing for funds for their personal and political agenda.
The criminal enterprise in Lagos State that started in 1999 must be resisted in 2019.

I still don't know what lagos state government uses federal allocations to do, lagos is the 3rd state that receives lion allocation. coupled again with igr revenue largest in the country, despite that no good roads, no good housing. most houses in lagos are individually owned, hospitals not well funded aand still has to pay huge amounts, most companies on island, lekki, vi are concessioning firms. so Mr Ambode what are you using the money collected to do.

Increase or decrease, I do not pay land use charge, it wont come from my purse, I will make sure that tenancy rates are raised to accommodate the increment. Cos every citizen who voted for Ambode should be the ones to face the repercussions of their actions.

I can not pay rent on nature's land, the masses will. Cos they refuse to wake up.

SMH and you think you won't feel the heat because you are a landlord?

It is this kind of e no concern me attitude that brought Nigeria this low. Unless you are completely self sufficient and do not need to buy any good/service, you will also feel the heat as well.

Meanwhile Wait until you jam better igbo tenant. You go beg for rent tire

Hmmmm eko oni bajè
Most of us woke up a few days to hear about the Land use charge
We have all being drunk from the start with the wonders of the so called Lagos state model of government while the likes of fashola laid the foundation of another milking factory to feed the elites or the financially awake minds
Some time a few years back in 2004 when I started reading about how to get out of the rat race, I came about an American model of investment where by you can invest in the charges due on a home and hope the home owner defaults
Now this is how it works
The state government places charges on homes like our land use act
They quickly create investment certificates on those charges and sell to the investing public since states need quick cash
These certificates are bought for the amount the home owner is owing with some percentage of interest
As time goes the value of the certificate goes up
As the more time it takes the home owner to pay, there is a penalty for the days delayed.
Now if the home owner doesn't pay and the charges climbs close to the value of the property
The government forecloses on it
Takes the home from the home owner
And auction the said property with the investor given the right of first buyer or waiting to sell off to reclaim is investment in the certificate
This is the motive of the land use charge
For many its evil
For the financially smart its a new way to make money.
So while some think its a way to punish the igbos as I ve read in many online discussions with the phrase if you no like am go ya state.
The real deal is to make investment vehicles for the super rich and smart grin

The land use charge is not high! What is wrong with the law is the unrealistic valuation of properties! Until that is addressed, the charges will still be high

I thought Fashola was elitist whilst he was governor. Then came Ambode, who posed with a populist gesture. But with the onslaught of the Land Use Charge, its clear that this line of unconscionable leaders may continue unbroken for some time.
But for the pressure from the organised private sector, this volte face wouldn't have been possible. It's a culture of leading undefeated, hapless and prostate people.

we complain too much in Nigeria. The new revised land use charge would have enabled Lagos state to generate N70 billion per month and thus have capacity to execute more project.

what project is greater than human capital development? Lagos has well over 80% living on the edge. They don't have access to credit, accommodation crisis, they pay for their security, water and electricity. In all sincerity, the roads and flowers are good but i will rather keep my money than pay taxes that will not return to benefit even the downtrodden.

Scrap it!

Nigerians as a whole are not supposed to pay any form of tax to any Nigerian government; be it federal or state government, because Nigerians do not enjoy any benefit from the government.

What's the land use charge for All Lagosians should protest further until they scrap the whole land use charge cos its corruption and in fact it's a taboo! angry

No good roads!
No water supply!
No constant electricity!
No health relief or reliable govt. healthcare system
No good govt education system!
No social amenity for Nigerians!
No welfare package for poor and aged Nigerians!
No reliable security!
No housing scheme for the homeless and poor!
No good governance!

So what is the tax for For the ghosts ruling Nigeria or for who

Nigeria's crude oil revenue should be enough to make Nigeria a tax free nation for all Nigerians if we had sensible leaders cry

I just hope you will not be here complaining if you don’t get to see quality roads around your neighborhood. Crude oil is not enough to serve over 180m people.

IGR from industries and businesses in Lagos is enough to fund all Lagos projects if the government is sincere and not being run by someone installed by a demigod who sees Lagos as his personal property.

Lagosians need to test another governor who is not endorsed by Tinubu to compare. Monopoly breeds corruption and negligence

A leopard never loses it spots, and your spots shone brightly.
