BChD- Baccalaureaus Chirurgiae Dental
BDS - Bachelor of Dental Surgery
DDS- Doctor of Dental Surgery
DMD- Doctor of Dental Medicine

BchD and BDS are studied as undergraduate courses in some countries e.g. Nigeria. They're exactly the same, no difference

DDS and DMD are studied as graduate courses (which means one needs a BSc in a biological science course before they can proceed to study the course) in some developed countries e.g. US, Canada. They're exactly the same just different names.

Nevertheless, BDS and BChD are considered equal to DMD or DDS.

Our bosses should pls elucidate further if need be.

you've said very well bro.
its just d name that differs, BDS and BChD are the same. BChD (Baccalaureate Chirugae Dentalis) is the Latin translation of BDS (Bachelor of Dental surgery).

the educational structure of USA, in particular is very different from what obtains here.

Here, you can go straight for MBBS/MBBCh, BDS/BChD for 6 years after high school and get your degree...

but there, After high school, you go to college for a bachelor's degree first (3/4yrs), before going to medical school (4yrs), which grants you a MD or a DMD . that's a total of at least 7 yrs. and 2 degrees. quite cool I'll say.

Bro, so UNICAL's quota is 15??
And a BDS fresher there told me they're 64 in 100level and Still expecting more lists, that they're supposed to be up to 80

64

80??

damn!!!!!!!

the Hustle just got real.. na from 100L dem go dey streamline Pple.

UI has a quota of 30, and that's the amount they admit. 27 from UTME, 3 from direct entry

http://www.mdcnigeria.org/Approved%20quota%20for%20Medical%20and%20Dental%20Schoos.htm

access the quota of each medical school from that link.

embarassed God help them.
You see why I can't stop admiring UIcheesy. They admitted the exact quota indirectly reducing the competition.
Seems OAU admitted a few above the quota but it's all good.

you "might" need to do some foundational training to upgrade your Nigerian degree to their equivalent there.

I think so

it is seen as equivalent but you have to write their qualifying exams to be license for practice
BDS is equivalent all over the world just as MBBS is equivalent and each state or county or province or country has it own rules for practice if you are coming in from outside which of course you will need to pass before starting your practice
