This guy has shown consistent integrity from day one making it clear that he wants to play for Deutschland and not Nigeria.

However, we have consistently bent over backwards publicly and behind the scenes. He has refused but nobody is asking for his head and calling him unsavoury names. Smacks of a double standard seemingly, I wonder why ❓ Particularly seeing the extent of hate speech Tega got.

I know some will not like this. I am not convinced that he is better than Dominic Iorfa.
tega fool us he make us believe that he has agreed only to turn his back on us

well he didn’t try to rubbish Nigeria. He went straight to the point which is to play for Germany, but Tammy messed with his calamitous statement..... they even tried to roll out the red carpet for me! Errant nonsense!.

I think we need to go back to memory lane to talk about FB who willingly made themselves available, those that rejected us and those we rejected.

In 1980 we have a FB named Tunji Banjo who came all the way from England and made 1980 Afcon winning team.He was the first FB to play for Nigeria and had a memorable tournament with the likes of Christian Chuckwu,Segun Odegbami and Adokiye Aimesemeika.

John Chiedozie made himself available and had few caps for Nigeria in 80s

I remember we later had Reuben Agboola who made Senegal 92 team and had a good tourney.

John Shittu had a wonderful experience with Nigeria with Afcon and WC experience.

Abbey George also had afcon appearance for Nigeria

Efe Sodje had World Cup appearance with Nigeria

Sammy Sodje too had few caps.

Hope Akpan had few caps.

Sone Aluko too had few caps even represented Nigeria at U20 WC.

Good recently we have the likes of Vic Moses, Leon Balogun,Alex Iwobi,Ola Aina,Ebuhei, Brian Idowu and Ekong Troost doing well with eagles presently.

Justin Fashanu was a very solid striker who never identify with Nigeria like John Fashanu. He was the first black player to signed a £1m contract in the world though never get a call cos he was not even willing.I remember he came down to Nigeria with John for the first time in 80s through MKO Abiola and Sebastian Williams Father to Kojo Williams.

Remi Moses was an ex Manchester United great midfielder who played between 1981 - 1989 as a regular but still surprised nobody knew he was a Nigerian and no approached from NFF.

John Fashanu rejected us and had two caps for England in friendlies. He tried to get his way back after our qualification for US 94 through Chief Akinwunmi the father of present NFF vice President but outcry from fans and press stopped him.

Gabriel Agbonlahor rejected us but later came out and said he was never approached to play for Nigeria and he had two appearances for England.

Nnedum Onuoah was a solid player that was given a wild card to represent Nigeria at 2014 WC but turned Nigeria down, waiting endlessly for England invitation.Later regretted his action and his mother didn't help his situation cos she insisted that her son want England.

Ugho Ehiogu was never approached so i cannot really blamed him but he should have been a great Eagles defender if we approached him.

Carlton Cole was willing but the rules at that time ruled him out.The rule stated that a player that played official youth match is not allowed to play for another national team and Cole was ex England youth player. He came down to Nigeria with Okocha and Kanu believing they can turned things around but the FIFA laws was cleared.

Cole went back to England dejected and following week he got England call and made his debut in official match but funny enough the following week after his debut FIFA changed the law that youth players can changed nationalities,no way for him again though he had few caps for England.

David Alaba was ever ready but his agent didn't help his situation. He went through third party who know nothing about NFF and was told U 17 is for homegrown.A very strong member of Austria team, honestly a great loss.

Dele Ali to me never a Nigerian though his real root is Nigeria cos he never see himself as one, nothing to say on a player who don't really reckon with his parents.

Manuel Akanji truly identified with Nigeria through his Father Murphy Akanji,a good CB who but funny enough he was never approached by NFF before he made his official debut for Switzerland, another loss.

Kenneth Otigba waited patiently but never get a call until recently when he was named in Hungary team, painful,Otigba refused to honour Hungary euro invitation cos of Eagles.

Oh Emma Olisadebe really wanted Nigeria but NFF didn't see him as someone that can compete with the likes of Kanu,Aghaowa,Yakubu and Agali until he naturalised and turned out for Poland.

Truly those who rejected Nigeria never had a good national team career.

Modified... Efan Ekoku was another FB who willingly turned out for Nigeria and he was member of prestigious 94 afcon winning team and also US 94 squad.

Dickson Etuhu had great time with eagles especially at Afcon and WC,he turned out for Nigeria with no hassle.

John Fashanu never rejected to play for Nigeria rather the coach rejected him. He was even on the bench in one of our friendly and it was after the match he decided to play for England because the coach didn’t like him

“I actually wanted to play for Nigeria and I came home thrice but the coach felt I was not good enough for his team. He only selected me for a friendly match against China but I was an unused substitute,” Fashanu said.

Dele Alli had his primary education in Nigeria.

I dey ready my hand to clap until he mentioned Sone. Can't we just talk about this team just as it is based on the players in camp? Lol

You can't always have what u want

Them dey really suffer. Lusting over the past, griping over players not in the team and forgetting to appreciate what we currently have. Just a mere four years ago we were so lean that we took a rastaman to the WC! Now God has blessed but still some will not be grateful. Aluko no dey, Martins no dey, Onyedima no dey, Ajagun no dey, Ike Uche no dey, and on and on and on.

But Mikel dey, Moses dey, Ighalo dey, Ekong dey, Ndidi dey, Onazi dey, Balogun dey. Buddhist say one of the ways to enjoy life is to live in the moment. They say it's not what we have that makes us happy, it is enjoying what one has that brings joy. Enjoy what you have and life becomes blissful. As for me I love this team with all my heart. Failure or success: I stand with this team.

An X factor which Hazard gives to Belgium, which Salah gives to Egypt, which Neymar gives to Brazil, which Messi gives to Argentina. We don't have that currently.

So, Onyekuru can give us the X factor ahead of Mikel and Moses, ba?

Dickson etuhu has 33 caps for Nigeria

His list was a mix of players who honoured/played for Nigeria and those who didn’t...eg. Abbe George.

It will be disrespectful not to mention Danny Shittu. He played with his heart and mind.

It's funny you'd say that because on last few occasions Joel Obi had played for the Super Eagles, he played in a double pivot with Mikel. And based on my personal assessment and in the assessment of those who know better than I do (and I am talking about the legends of the game, such as Mathematical Segun Odegbami), Joel outshined Mikel each time. This isn't to say that Mikel didn't play well in those games, but it tells you how good Joel Chukwuma Obi can be when he's at his best.

But is he gonna outshine Mikel on current form, I doubt it. Why ... because injuries have affected his speed and impacted his game in other ways, but he's still a quality player.

O pari

DrKlever:
. lemme hear word! Some monikers here were against the ideal of Joel Obi's call up for several reasons. Some team cohesion and chemistry, while so many others for injury. I can remember someone saying Joel Obi can even get injured in an airplane on his way to russia. some others caller him waste of slot. although nobody denied that he is not good but sir you never said Joel Obi is our best midfielder. so he's now better than Mikel abi. Why are you pained if you ain't part of them?? I'm even sure you're among! you think i have the time to be digging out old comments, when I'm still struggling to catch up with new posts.

Kog45:
Thank you for this comment.

Do we need to argue Joel Obi invitation? NO or do we need to castigate the school of thoughts that always have reservation about his injury issue? NO

Pls let us ask ourselves simple question

What has been Joel Obi hindrance in National team for past six years?

(A) QUALITY. (B) INDISCIPLINE. (C) INJURY

I think answer to this should end the arguments.

It is easy to see the spirit and unity even from far away... Maybe because of the youth in the team

You are as good as your recent stats. Stop looking for excuses. Later u will shift goal post for another player who plays outside England. Is Iorfa among the best in the Championship currently? Capital NO.
Aina is, and he is in the SE set up.

We reward performance.

If we truly reward performance? Why was Sone Aluko not invited to the team even when he was nominated for Football league best player of the season?

was Nwakali's performance wow before he was invited?

I'm spiritual that way. I'm sure I'll have a lovely time reading all the positive comments hailing our players after we come out victorious. I wish y'all a happy and enjoyable football match cheesy. Mikel is a playmaker only, he doesn't hold play, he thrives on teammates making runs, he doesn't beat players. He is like a Cesc Fabregas.

Moses is not a natural dribbler he doesn't beat player, just a good runner. Moses causes more harm than good to the Eagles due to overconfidence, he would be willing to shoot when passing is key.

When Arsenal played Chelsea, Moses failed to beat Iwobi on take-out three times, talk less renowned defenders. On the other hand, Henry left veteran defender, Dani Alves on his back in the UCL.

My point is not on dribbling ability or tendency but on the ability of a player to attract at least two opposition to himself, opening room for a fellow teammate.
