What types of prayer are mentioned in the Bible?

Rather than a single type of prayer or even a list of specific prayers, the Bible notes a variety of ways people pray to God. Because prayer is talking with God, it can occur at any time and place, involve a variety of forms, continue as a conversation with God throughout the day, and can also include times of public prayer among believers.

Prayer of Thanksgiving:
One specific type of prayer mentioned in the Bible is a prayer of thanksgiving. The Psalms are filled with these types of prayers. Philippians 4:6 in the New Testament also notes, "with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."

Prayer of Worship:
A second type of prayer is a prayer of worship. In addition to thanking God, we recognize Him for who He is. In Acts 13:2-3 we read about prayer, worship, and fasting in the same context, leading to the powerful calling of Saul (Paul) and Barnabas beginning their mission work: "While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off."

Prayer of Intercession:
A third type of prayer is intercession. In these prayers, we ask God for needs regarding our own life or the lives of others (1 Timothy 2:1). In John 17 Jesus prayed a prayer of intercession on behalf of His disciples and all believers.

Prayer of Faith:
A fourth type of prayer is the prayer of faith. In James 5:15 we read, "And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up." Prayers of faith are given for healing. This does not negate the important role of medical professionals, but encourages believers to turn to God for help during times of physical need.

Corporate prayer:
A fifth type of prayer is corporate prayer. The early church "all joined together constantly in prayer" (Acts 1:14 NIV) and was devoted to prayer together (Acts 2:42). While praying alone is an important part of Christian growth, praying together serves a unique role that combines the power of prayer with community among believers.

Prayer of Consecration:
A sixth type of prayer can be called a prayer of consecration. Jesus is our example in this area. On the night before His death, He prayed, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will" (Matthew 26:39).

These and others types of prayer all acknowledge our complete dependence upon the Lord's help for our daily needs. The Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 offers a model prayer we can also use in praising and making our requests known to God.

“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” —Matthew 21:22 (NIV)

“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” —Matthew 17:20 (NIV)

“Ask and it will be given to you…. For everyone who asks receives.” —Luke 11:9-10 (NIV)
“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” —Matthew 18:19 (NIV)

These promises are, obviously, false.
No Christian I know of would claim that they can accomplish literally anything, up to and including moving mountains[ 1], through prayer (and if there are any who do claim that,
James Randi has a million dollars for you). Instead, most Christian apologists defend these verses by claiming that the only prayers that are answered are those that are in line with the will of God. Of course, since no one can know what the will of God is, this gives them license to explain away any failed prayers.

-nothing fails like prayers. the more we pray, the more terrible things happen. a million hands clasped in prayers will never achieve more than a single finger, actually doing work.

WHY DO WE NEED TO PRAY, WHEN GOD ALREADY HAS A WILL AND A PLAN.
"LORD GIVE ME THIS, HELP ME WITH THAT", WHY DO WE PRAY TO REMIND GOD WHAT TO DO AND CHANGE HIS PLANS AND FAVOUR US PERSONALLY..?

I'M YET TO SEE THE IMPORTANCE OR EFFECTIVENESS OF PRAYERS.

OR PERHAPS, THE PRAYERS THAT SHOULD WORK HAVE NEVER BEEN SAID BY ANYONE.

You won't understand if you haven't been there.
Fall and die prayer is what Paul termed warfare prayer and what Jesus meant by binding and losing.
It is more severe in Africa than other parts of continent because of the terrain of things here - our lands are demons possessed than any other places and thus the high rate of wickedness of powers and principalities and the only language devil understand is power.
It is either you kill them or they kill you if you ever fall victim of them but you see, this part of Christianity is best understand through experience, until then, it means nonsense to you.

Don't ever think the likes of Adeboye, Oyedepo, Olukoya, all of international standards are jobless to focus praying "fall and die prayer". Life occurrences, situations and circumstances drove them into it.

Uncle, perish this satanic mentality. Emancipate yourself from this kind of routine believe system. Where do you put the grace of God ? Even the acclaimed cursed Egypt is better of Nigeria, economy wise. Every curse and covenant have been nailed with Christ on the cross.

You must be hearing God and having intimacy with Him than the likes of Babalola, Idahosa, Oyedepo, Adeboye, Olukoya et. al. or may be they did not have the grace of God like you do.
