I wish to rant a bit please...

See people trekking like Israelites in Lagos since yesterday because of a president's visit. One aged woman among others that I gave a lift said she had trekked the equivalent of 12km to get home last night. That's about the length of third mainland bridge that a quinquagenerian traversed on foot because of one man. I'm sure there were others in worse situations but I could only do so much.

Today, businesses have been forced to a halt without recourse to the daily struggles of these business owners. I struggle to understand where we are headed as a country, but I sure know it's not a forward/upward movement. I cannot paint a picture in my head of New York getting shut down because DT is coming to town or Lyon roads closed because Emmanuel Macron wants to attend a Mayor's birthday. It is well with Nigeria

It's really pathetic

I had a work appointment in VI but couldn't go because the roads are blocked. I'm officially sick of Nigeria

The government really do not care about its people. They are all there to benefit themselves only

Sometimes i think we complain too much about this our govt.
As soon as we heard of the activities of the President in Lagos today
and the restrictions on some road, i expect that we will adjust our activities to suit it.
I have been on the island since morning and i have no issues with the traffic.
Everything has to do with planning.

Let's allow this out govt to breath. Afterall our numerous criticisms, swear and curses hasn't changed anything.

This is one and enough reason it is advisable to pay RPRF upfront. My man would've announced his PPR since o. Let me sha congratulate you in advance.

Hahaha...actually that's not correct. It does not affect the speed of processing...in fact some folks split so they can be open to updates on their file.

...the congratulations part though...that one is 200% correct! cheesy

I think @ysteph is right.
Road closure happens everywhere, in 2014 during Brisbane Gsumit, Brisbane was shut down for a whole week.prior to that event, there are a lot of restriction of movements, everyone was forced to take a break. Obama was in Sydney last week and the same thing happened. Yes if France PM is going on a state tour or visit such is bound to occour , generally Nigerians are not just happy with their leaders.however, I think Gov could av made those days public holiday for state workers maybe that would reduce the rate of people on the road.
It is normal for such things to happen. I just think we do things without Puting other measures in place incase of emergency( fire, ambulance etc).
He’s the first citizen of the country, even Jesus rode on the donkey and He was given a first class treatment to Jerusalem.
Don’t ever assume Canada is heaven on earth, once u landed you see what people will never tells you or u never believe it exists both the good and the bad.

Is gonna end well for us all.

Good evening to all and to the great people helping out here.

Please I have a situation. On August 28 2017 we submitted our eAPR (family of 3, PNP Ontario-nominated). Letter from bank for POF was CAD20K. I also added my pension fund statement as supporting document with the 25% being over CAD5k (just the statement no letter from the pension managers). Also, I did not declare this as part of my POF but mentioned it in my LOE as a supporting document.

On the 22nd of January 2018, I sent a CSE for the addition of our new baby. First we were asked to provide the below which we did.

 > Passport/Travel Document: Valid passport or travel document
o This must be received at this office by: 2018/02/26
 > Birth registration/certificate: Birth registration/certificate
o This must be received at this office by: 2018/02/26
 > Client Information: Receipt of information from client Fee receipt for $150 CAD paid online on the CIC website.
o This must be received at this office by: 2018/02/26
 > Additional Family Info IMM5406: A separate and newly completed Additional Family Information form (IMM5406) bearing original signatures For yourself and your spouse.
o This must be received at this office by: 2018/02/26
Please upload these documents to your MyCIC account only.

Then after this we were asked to do his medicals which we also did. After which our baby was added successfully and shows on my profile.

In all these we have not been asked for updated proof of fund and this is my worry. I expected that they will ask for it but I have not received such request. Please advise me on this issue.

Anyway I just raised this issue now with my husband because Uncle Buhari was at Wuse 2 on Wednesday in Abuja and totally disorganized my plans that day. My husband agreed with your point of view and actually said, if Nigerians think the disruption to their plans for the day is annoying, how much more his security detail who have to protect one man in an open area in a country currently facing insurgency? Forget what these people are saying.
Meanwhile, if there is a rule that says 'don't pass this road' Nigerians should be ready to obey.
Why should we disobey rules? It shows its not only the govt that has issues. We the people have issues too.
Like i said, when all of us reach Canada, we go learn.

I don’t care how many years u lived in uk, if u have lived in advanced nation as u claimed then u should understand better about high level of security details given to president or Pm. This is not about immigration this is just to add to the fact that road closures or pressure on the visiting state happens everywere. In addition, I made it clear enough that we make moves without making plans for unforeseen circumstances. Maybe u need to know that people from advanced nations too do migrate to another country so it is not about if Nigeria is Ok u won’t be on Nairaland. Were u forced to be here ? I guess no

Lagos govt made today public holiday.
Besides, there have been announcements on the blocking of various routes since Tuesday. I'm not in Lagos yet I saw the roads to block on Channels TV.

Complaining has become our hobby, maybe because it's easier to complain than to find solutions.

I do not intend to get into any arguments on this, I usually don't anyway. But you see the bolded right up there, is just the summary of it all. Bless you bro.

I was never complaining about myself as I was barely affected, but looking at people recount their gory experiences had me flattened out. You know what? It wasn't because there was a certain summit or the likes, it was because Mr. President had to attend a mere party. It is shameful to say the least.

That’s a very good one by Mr Gov, exactly my point that such delay and distrusption is like 5$6 in a situation like this, even though I never knew lag gov did that and then one bros who is a distant cousin to Theresa May show up.

Yes public holiday for state workers only. My hubby went to work today, so i wouldnt blame him if he complained about what he encountered today as a result of the presidential visit. So lets cut sthillz some slack. Some people cant just sit their ass at home today because it is going to cost them their jobs.
