if you want to have good grades in ui, don't exceed 18 years old before you gain admission, because most things you will be taught in 100 level is bit little advance secondary school subject, but if you entered at 25 years old my brother sunami might be your case especially if you are admitted into faculty of agric and forestry, largest sunami airport in ui. if you want to study medicine, surgery, pharmacy, anatomy, physiology, physiotherapy once you fail chemistry 157, you are no more in college of medicine, just sharpaly go change course to statistics, maths, botany, agric etc.
Guy, UI doesn't offer Anatomy as an undergraduate course as is with Surgery. And CHE 157 isn't the total determinant of you been whisked away. You have to pass a certain number of units in each course in 100L to proceed.

Don't just come here on NL to write things you only have a foggy idea about.

There was no post UME during Bamiro's tenure, yet the number of students who did not measure up was insignificant. Why did Adewole and his cohorts (which include current VC) stopped Bamiro's mode of admission and opted for Post UME? To make money they abandoned what worked to pursue shadow. Awon ole, greedy set of human beings.

No you were wrong. we had oral interview during bamiro era. The waec and jamb results of candidates were weighed, students were later invited for oral interview so we had oral post utme where student were asked question orally.

But in the case of this 16/17 cohort, their waec result was used for direct admission.

I was not wrong, oral interview was not post ume exam which adewole later introduced while he ended the interview. During Bamiro there was no Post University Matric Examination. Nobody wrote any other exam after jamb to get admitted into ui. Adewole came in, ended the interview joined the bandwagon of exam writers which NUC later directed everyone to stop.

The students in question should have known their strength before opting for the first and the best. It is very disheartening to see that some students in Ui including finalists and extra year students could hardly write something that justify being awarded 40 as passed mark. Sometimes you just look for where to award marks and you can hardly find.
Sir. . .Pardon my curiosity/inquisitiveness.

I will like to know if you lecture in UI.

You seem not to have passed through the tertiary academic system. Is the V.C the one who marked their scripts in the several courses they underwent in their first and second semesters? Do you expect the institution to progress them by patching their shortcomings, of whose disadvantage will that be in years to come? Not even this time when average graduates produced by Nigerian Universities are said to be half-baked.

If 328 student is all you have to expel among thousands you admitted for 2016/2017 section, then suspension of Post UTME is not the problem...

Just admit that u and ur colleagues missed being enriched by the bribery and corruption, runs, nepotism and the extortion in d name of PUTME reg fee that PUTME avails you

Oga you make me laugh o. oral or written, no be same question dem ask. only that while written questions are much, oral are not. Don't forget the oral self hard as you are asked question by lecturer. Some even want to hear you speak oyinbo.

lastly you cannot say the bamiro era oral interview and the 2016/17 set that did nothing are the same.

pls if you are not a Ui student do not talk nonsense ....these students were given admission on a platter of gold yet they didn't use the opportunity given to them ......Ui says you must pass 1.0 gp using the 4 point scale which just came into the system last session and you must also pass 24 units ...how do you want them to make it easy if not this method ....what affected students was their inefficiency to think straight some of them are still meant to be sucking their mother's breast .......its a lesson to everybody tho ...Ui is hard YES we know but we are not the first set of students they would admit na or we are not d first set of students that would be taking chem 156 Zoo MAths and all .....i rest my case

go and ask pharmacy students about chem 157, ask them if anyone have a first class in 100 level and score below 40 in chem 157, will he or she proceed to pharmacy in 200 level. get your facts on that.

ON THE PROTEST BY STUDENTS OF ALEXANDER BROWN HALL

We have just received the electricity bill for the period from November 2017 till March 2018 (5 months) for electricity consumption at Alexander Brown Hall (ABH).

The bill from the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) for ABH (including 5% VAT) for the five months under reference is #8,799,019.84.

When this is pro-rated for 12 months in a year, the bill for electric power supply from IBEDC to ABH would be #21,117,647.62.

Remember we still buy diesel for local power generation to ABH during periods of outages from IBEDC.

There are 630 bed spaces in ABH.

To settle IBEDC electricity for ABH, It costs the University approximately #33,520 per bed space per year.

Add to this cost of diesel + cleaning + routine petty maintenance.

Yet a student pays #14,000 per bed space per year. The massive subsidy is not sustainable, in my humble opinion.

It hurts very deeply when the Students we are supposed to be training in character and learning impugn our integrity and abuse us at the slightest provocation.

Kind regards.

Okay, is this you trying to justify the outrageous increase in the amount charged for a bed space in ABH? It's understandable, sir.

Just that you left my previous question unanswered : Do you lecture in UI? I have noticed your posts in the past and you definitely appear to be an academia.

I am not trying to justify the increment in bed space. However, if the truth must be told, the #14,000 charged per bed space in Ui undergraduate hall of residence is not plausible anymore given that the government has failed to make available funds to cater for the over head and maintenance of accommodation in Ui. I personally sympathized with indigent students. However, an average Ui student though will not want to appreciate the increase knows that the said amount can't get him/her accommodation at Agbowo, where they often lost their valuables to miscreants.

As for your question, our identity doesn't matter. However, if there's any legit information you want to know particularly in Ui, I can be of help where necessary. Or issues concerning undergraduate and postgraduate education in Nigeria.
