Any man that beats his wife especially in front of his kids still poses a danger to his children. No sane judge should give such a man custody of his children till he can get his acts together and do something about his anger mgt. He can be allowed to see his children, but it should be supervised visits because nothing says he won't harm those same children. Unfortunate we don't have a robust social welfare system in Nigeria.

I didn't phrase my post well: What I mean is that usually, when issues like this arise, women are usually stubborn and quick to rebuff any sort of input from their husbands. Clearly, that's not a very good option.

In your mind you made sense. Is it too much for a man to respect his wife as well? What is so fantastic about a marriage where one is bartered and bruised that should not be destroyed? Not all marriages is worth fighting for. A marriage where your life, sanity and well being are at stake, is it not better destroyed? A good number of such men grew up in dysfunctional homes where their fathers beats their mothers like donkeys that's why they don't see anything wrong with domestic violence against women.
