After telling you I am not Yoruba, you still went ahead to refer to them as 'your people.' Interesting. undecided it is obvious you have some deep rooted animosity against them. I have said nothing but the truth, and you can verify everything I have stated, as the info is in public domain. If you still choose to disbelieve it, then I cannot help you. It is obvious you would rather choose to swallow a lie, than imbibe the facts..... undecided
Brotjer, stop replying that son of ingrate. Do you expect him to appreciate what others have done for them? Son of ingrates must remain son of ingrate. It is a trait in their gene. If they can not appreciate what other nations that helped them fight during the war, all you will keep hearing is that they fought alone without the help of anybody. Whereas 13 different nations helped them fight Nigeria but you know and they were the one that were defeated, they start shouting they fought alone. An ingrate will always be ingrate. Don't blame him, it is an heritage from his ancestors.

-Firstly, i’m not your brother and would never be. Nothing to be pain about as you don’t have anything I’d ever want or need.

-Secondly, your reply is so full of holes that I feel like a mosquito in a nudist colony. But what I can say now is your people are not exactly known as truth seekers or honest bunch and your history & contemporary events have shown that, but rather a dishonest unreliable revisionists as your completely false assertion here proves.
An ingrate will always be ingrate. No one should blame you. We know it is your tribe trait to be ingrate.

Are you still pulling this "neutral", detribalized charade, where your "neutrality" seems to involve singularly focused animosity towards one group even on threads like this where most of the bile came from the tribe you are always at pains to deny you're from? We get it that you resent Igbos. The question is why you choose to advance this charade of neutrality that everyone by now can see through. Why not just own your bigotry?

'Charade?' What 'charade?' shocked And where have I ever claimed to be advancing any neutrality? Must you lie in order to get your views across? I have always made it clear that I do not support groups like IPOB who launch vitriolic attacks against other ethnic groups, as well as those who exhibit negative traits and engage in ad hominem attacks to deride others, simply because they do not share the same perspective. I will not be neutral to such things...sorry, if it offends your sensibilities. undecided You can stop playing the victim card, now. I leave the bigotry to you and your people.

that was in the early days of Nigeria true federalism...but not now....we have allowed so many things to go bad because each of us were selfish to one another instead of trying to be competitive in trade, investment, regional development and others ...

You just employed the same charade with your IPOB strawman. What does IPOB have to do with your jumping on every opportunity to attack Igbos? Why are those who exhibit your so-called "negative traits" and"launch vitriolic attacks" always Igbo? You didn't see any Yorubas doing that shey?

No point raising distracting nonsense about "playing victim". Your attacks evoke no such emotions because I learn to ignore those who brazenly troll. What I want to understand is why you put up a very transparent deception that seeks to legitimize your trolling as having sincere motives, when in truth, you're just a regular anti-Igbo bigot. I want you to own that and quit the phony charade.

To be frank, Ibos were not like this until Chinua Achebe released his book, 'There Was A Country'.

That book changed the mindset of most young ibos of today who were fed lies.

I believe the man Achebe harboured hatred in his mind for too long and the only lasting legacy he could leave behind was the hatred in his heart.

We have heard stories and read books of genocides the world over but we have never read (or I have never read) any that states that a leader or statesman for the victims side planted hatred and expects his people to prosper.

Take for instance, Nelson Mandela, he surfered personally during the apartheid reigns of the whites in South Africa but when he was eventually released, he began to preach forgiveness and peace. So also, the Israelis never hold any grudge against the Germans even though millions of Jews were killed by the Germans during the holocaust.

But what do we have in Nigeria, a man, respected Nationally and Internationally, a renowned writer who knows the power of books decided to write rubbish against a nation where his fellow brothers brought to his knees.

The problem of Nigeria began on January 15, 1966, when some overzealous young soldiers decided to take over power from the elected politicians, hereby killing most of the leaders of Northern extraction, some leaders of Western extraction and non from the Eastern leaders was touched. After this, the Ibo's recident in the north decided to rub it in the face of the Northerners the success of the coup by jubilating in the open thereby mocking their host. The ibos were the major beneficiary of the coup because, Aguiyi Ironsi, became Head of State through a move by the Speaker of Parliament, Orizu Nwaifo(pardon my spellings) a IBO man that was spared by the young ibo soldiers. The President at that time, Nnamdi Azikiwe(Zik) another ibo man was said to be on vacation in the Caribbean while his fellow politicians of northern extraction were been massacred at home. This we all know led to the counter coup of July 15, 1966.

Simple logic is that the ibos were beaten in their own game and some of the ibos, especially Achebe, who it was stated was a propagandists of the Ojukwu lead government of Biafra, who never really suffered like the ordinary ibos who lost means of livelihood, families and some their lives, a man who enjoyed part of the foods sent to feed the dying children of Biafra decided to do what he knows best once again before he died. Even Ojukwu had forgiven all the atrocities and has also ask for forgiveness, and until his death(Ojukwu) believed in one Nigeria and even ran for the presidency of Nigeria.

I don't think, like someone opined above that the young ibo men were feed with hatred against other Nigerians by their parents is correct. I believe it was Chinua Achebe who has sowed the seed of discord and hatred in the minds of the ibo, and what he hoped to gain is what I can't phantom till this moment.

You are wrong! angry Chinua Achebe did not sow the seeds of hatred in their minds, like you claim. Those seeds had always been there, right from the end of the civil war. The contemptuous disdain many of them had for other ethnic groups, had always been a part of their outlook. All Chinua Achebe merely did, was to put it in writing....

Infact, my first experience of tribalism (in the countty) was from an ibo woman who went out of her way to express how much dislike she has for me - an 11yr old boy, simply because of my tribe.

Funny you can say someone is playing victim while coming out with the emboldened paranoid nonsense. I've never attacked you here before and can't even remember how many months ago we interacted last. And those interactions were usually positive because you saw me attacking Igbo posters and approved of my comments. That is how YOU get your kicks on here. Any anti-Igbo bandwagon gives you an erection. Then he pretends it's all in commitment to a higher purpose when his sole focus is one group. The front page alone of this thread is filled with bile from many Yoruba trolls, but as always, phony that you are, only any negative post by an Igbo person riles you up to get on your high horse and pontificate. Your attacking Igbos isn't what I give a damn about. I don't care about that in the slightest. You don't see me calling out any of the Yoruba trolls insulting Igbos. My issue is your blatant dishonesty and duplicity. You're an anti-Igbo bigot. Claim and own that evident reality and quit the two-faced charade you like to put up.

My first experience of tribalism was a Yoruba teacher in my school in Gbagada who said I must have been the one who had stolen a classmate's money from his bag during break time because I was the only Igbo among a few boys playing in the vicinity. I was just 7-years-old and in Primary 3 at the time. The funny thing is I knew who took it, but didn't snitch on him cos he was my friend, and also the class bully who intimidated me. He was also Yoruba. The bigoted woman was talking to her fellow teachers deliberating the issue and I hadn't a clue what she was telling them in Yoruba, but I kept hearing "omo Ibo" while the others cast suspicious glances in my direction.

It's funny the story above could be construed as trolling to mimic your ridiculous anecdote which is somehow supposed to prove how all we Igbos are bigots, but it's also a true life story. I've met tons of Yorubas in my lifetime who ascribe phony values to themselves while asserting Igbos are the pits of moral bankruptcy. That is the textbook definition of bigotry. But I guess in your phony universe, only Igbos are bigots. Nevermind YOUR entire Nairaland history is basically dedicated to your anti-Igbo fixation.

Funny how the emboldened myth has somehow become an article of faith in crafting a narrative for the savage counter-coup of '66 that led to the Civil war. For starters, the Northerners had a very long history of murderous mob rampages against foreigners in their midst before the '66 coup. Google a list of civilian massacres in Northern Nigeria. They have always been a highly violent lot and the non-indigenes in their midst have always walked around like they're tip-toeing on eggshells. The notion that Igbos went around taunting them in the streets after their leaders were killed is highly unlikely and would have been instant suicide for any of those who attempted such. You can't walk into any market in the North and provoke them and leave the place alive. You're talking about a region where a Yoruba teacher was lynched by kids, for allegedly "desecrating" the Koran, after she moved to clear the materials students didn't put away before an exam; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianah_Oluwatoyin_Oluwasesin . Where Youth Corpers pray to avoid being posted. I knew one of the Corpers who died in 2011 riots. Where people get slaughtered for some Danish guy drawing an "offensive" cartoon of Mohammed. Where peolpe get slaughtered because Nigeria was going to host Miss World. This isn't some recent development. The North has always been like that.

Trying to draw an equivalence between a coup led by a few Igbo officers (funny how the Delta Igbos heritage is denied or acknowledged by anti-Igbo bigots depending on circumstance) targeting a few strategic figures, to a genocidal mass murder of Igbos and claiming that those who got slaughtered somehow deserved it for the actions of a few is precisely the kind of callous rationale that makes those Igbo "bigots" you're talking about unable to move on from that history.

I will repeat it again - you are playing the victim card. sad The minute anyone disagrees with your people or their perspective, they start wailing that he is attacking the Igbo. Wow! shocked It doesn't matter how asinine their viewpoints may be. It is amazing that you have bought into that same mindset, and you are now so quick to launch e-missiles in the direction of those who do not share the myopic view of your clique, while you ignore those from your ethnic group who contemptuously deride others. undecided

Lots of Igbo trolls exist on NL, posting all kinds of disgusting graphic images about other ethnic groups on different threads, but you deliberately turn a blind eye to their antics, and expect Laudate to rebuke those who respond to them in their own coin, on your behalf. How funny! angry Isn't this part of your two-faced charade, which you are so quick to accuse others of doing? You obviously know a lot about charades, and it is probably part of your nature, which is why you find it easy to accuse others of the very same things you are guilty of! shocked

Now you are throwing a tantrum, because I have not attacked the Yoruba people who have taken your Igbo brothers to task. Why? shocked Is that my job? Do you expect me to launch vitriolic comments in their direction on your behalf, or on the behalf of your people? Is this epistle of yours', some misguided attempt to draft Laudate into your clique of internet warriors that support the Igbo cause? Is that why you are so pained, and flinging these silly allegations all around?

If the front page is filled with Yoruba trolls, are you too scared to engage them on your own, that you feel the need to attack Laudate for not jumping into the fray? Or are you upset because I shared factual information that exposed the false, myopic views of one of your cherished Igbo brothers? Which one?

I am not surprised though. You have obviously taken a leaf from your people, in an attempt to cast aspersions on anyone who disagrees with you. Hehehe....like I said earlier, I leave the bigotry to you and your folks. Feel free to throw another childish tantrum, and fling around more accusations..... wink

Again (and read it slooooowly this time so it can percolate), I couldn't give less of a shiit about your attacking Igbos. You'll be just another in a loooong line of trolls to do so and I don't waste a lot of thought on mindless trolling. The issue is you are one of the few frauds who laughably attempt to mask your bigotry with a veneer of respectability. Quit peddling your rubbish about Ipob and whatever other prop you employ in your charade. We know you're an anti-Igbo bigot. You know you're an anti-Igbo bigot. Have the moral courage and integrity to accept who you are and quit peddling your transparent fraud that any fool on earth can see through.

The notion that I have a problem with someone "disagreeing" with me is patently absurd. You have been one of my biggest cheerleaders here in the past. I could go and dig up the threads, but I couldn't be bothered really. All I needed to do to earn your cheers and applause was to attack Igbos: guaranteed to get you aroused. I'm more than happy to confront opposing arguments civilly and in good faith. Yours though is a clear pattern of anti-Igbo fixation and duplicity. Having the courage of conviction to voice and affirm your bigotry earns your greater credibility and integrity than the transparent charade that everyone on Nairaland can see through.

You don't give a shiit about my comments, yet you respond with such lengthy posts wailing about bigotry, and alleging all sorts of real and imaginary sins, committed against your ethnic group! Wonderful! shocked You obviously get a high from flinging around such myopic phrases as "We know you're an anti-Igbo bigot." Who are these set of people you refer to as "we?" Your tribalistic cartel? Sorry, but they do not hold the rights to NL, neither do they dictate the thought processes of everyone on this forum. Thank God, everyone can read. Now get a life and get off my mentions.

You are just disgruntled because I shared factual information that exposed the false, myopic views of one of your cherished Igbo brothers? shocked If it bothers you so much, please take a hike! undecided

I've stated clearly what I don't give a shiit about. If you choose to exhibit the comprehension level of a senile person, that's your problem, I guess. Tribalistic cartel? I like the old trick of projecting your pathologies on others to mitigate yours. The oldest trick in the book grin
Yeah, thank god everyone can read and can identify a bigot who deludes himself that he's deceiving anyone for what he really is.

So all the yorubas my uncle employed in his company are aliens?

All the yorubas working in igbo companies in Lagos are aliens?

Can you swear that you have never received help from any igbo man or woman in your life, you deranged tribalist?

I pray you never receive that help again
I was thinking you wanted to say all the Yorubas your brother was dashing money or dashing houses, but no, as usual you came up with useless point. Man, all those Yorubas your brother employed as you claimed are simply working for their pay.

If you have the time, please do a content analysis of different threads on NL from 2006 till date, and review different threads on other social media sites, as well. Read through topics that relate to the ethnic issue. And you will find your answers, there....
Could you tell me summary of your own findings? You mean they have always display this amount of hatred to other ethnic groups since 2006 and possibly beyond '06?

I don't agree with you. Even if they were chased away during the war it's still not sufficient reason to have a low number of Yorubas in Igbo land. The war happened almost 50 years ago so normal migrations should have resumed since then. I believe you are making up these stories to make Igbos look guilty but I wish to tell you that I know some Yorubas residing in Igbo land and they don't complain about Igbos mistreating them or asking them to leave. That's false bro. In fact Igbos don't even care about them being Yoruba. The Hausas and Fulanis are the tribes the Igbos are not really comfortable with and they still don't even mistreat them except occasional clashes. As for the Yourba man I can tell you Igbos don't care. You need to visit Igbo land and see things for yourself and stop making unsubstantiated claims on Nairaland.

Concerning Igbos teaching their children to hate Yorubas that is TOTALLY untrue. I wonder where you got that fasle information from. Igbos don't even talk about Yorubas before you talk of having the time to teach their kids to hate Yorubas. And why should they do so? I know Yorubas who got married to Igbo women in Igbo land. How will that be possible if igbos preach hate to their kids.

If you think Igbos are "hostile" to Yorubas come to Igbo land and see for yourself. Nobody will care you are a Yoruba man. I don't know how you came up with all these false claims. It seems you are drawing conclusions from what you read on Nairaland. Nairaland doesn't represent the true situation on ground. Anyone can come on Nairaland and say anything rubbish just to draw attention to himself and pass time.
thumb up man. now I can come Igbo land for my Nysc with this ur claim

Ehn? But I did not include Yorubas in my original post, nah....! cheesy You sef, check am well.

I did and what you wrote was "the contemptuous disdain many of them had for other ethnic groups, " and i took the liberty, based on my own personal experience to include the yorubas in the group. Abi na lie?

Anyway, my point was the thought that engulfed me afterwards.........kept wondering wth she was doing in yorubaland if she hates the yorubas THAT much?

So Yorubas are dashing igbos houses and money in Lagos, abi?

When we sack those yorubas, you will provide jobs for them.

(yawn) Another misguided rant from your end....! sad This matter is surely causing you a lot of pain.

Well since you made reference to "the old trick of projecting your pathologies on others to mitigate yours....", I guess it is something you know a lot about, or something you must have practised often in the past, which is why you find it so easy to accuse others of doing such stuff. So tell us, where did you learn such tricks?

Anyway, thank God everyone on NL can read, and they can all see that delusion has been oozing from your keyboard. You are just aggrieved, because I used various facts to debunk the false narrative your brothers were peddling on this thread. undecided So by making false, wide-sweeping allegations of 'bigotry,' you felt your misguided attempt to draft Laudate into your clique of internet warriors in support of the Igbo cause, would gain some traction. Hehehe....let me laugh very well. cheesy Sadly, your efforts did not succeed.

If my comments still cause you so much pain, kindly go and have a long in-depth conversation with the Lagos lagoon! sad

Haven't I asked you to go and do a search on the posts online on NL, from that period till date? You can also visit other Nigerian social media sites from 2006 till now, to confirm if it is true or not. You haven't even done that yet, and you are coming back here to ask me about 'my findings?' shocked Do you expect me to spoon feed you with info, in this era of cheap data bundles and online search engines? Conduct your research, and draw your own conclusions please! sad

I'm still waiting to hear any good thing an igbo man has ever done for a Yoruba man.

It's always Yoruba doing something for them, yet they are ungrateful. Well, the new generation is now alert.

How would you have known when you are such a great ignoramus? In 1954, Zik appointed a Yari.ba as the secretary to the regional government.

Can it ever get back to those good ol' days? Very, very doubtful, as so many waters have passed under the bridge. The resentment and dislike is so much that the wise thing any politically discerning Igbo and Yoruba should be asking for is mutual division of the country into coherent groups.

It will never get to those days. The trust was killed in 1967 when Yari.ba matched in locked steps with northern region of Nigeria to precipitated war on eastern region also known as Biafra. The only thing which attempt to smooth things is disintegration of the shithole called Nigeria. As long as Igbo and Yari.ba squat under the tattered umbrella called Nigeria, the hostility will continue to grow.

Which part of this convoluted twaddle refutes the basic premise that you're an Igbophobic fraud who claims to be some kind of neutral arbiter with no biases, but gets an orgasm on any anti-Igbo thread? Nobody is looking to draft you into anything, you self-absorbed clown. grin As if your "support" makes a difference to anything. The point again is why you keep peddling a transparent fraud that every discerning person can see through. Why?

Given that it may never get back to that state, what then is the essence of being in one country? I was born in Nigeria and I live in the US. I am considering running for an elective position as a councilman in my city and I will likely be voted for by Whites. Keep in mind that I was not born in the US and I am brown, living in a city that is 75% White.

How did Nigeria deteriorate to such nadir (lowest point), in spite of the Yoruba and the Igbo famed prowesses? Does it have to do with the innate quality of the black race as a whole?

It got to do with Nigeria/Biafra civil war. The bitterness generated by the war is a borderline life and death attraction.
