GRADUATED with a 4.46

Slik07:

Your options look straightforward but there are not.

In the first option, you dont need to secure a supervisor and funding is assured if offer is made. In such school, to get admission is hard because they've many reasons not to give you offer: lack of fund, no supervisor to take you, low grade etc. I dont know your CGPA anyway.

In the second option, no funding, but you've already secured a supervisor, which means that your admission is 50% assured unlike the first option.

If you've a good result, go for the first option.

My people sorry for the questions. Pls I have one more last slot to apply to one more school out of two..but am confused
The first option is a school that doesn't require u securing a supervisor and could offer me an admission scholarship
The second option is a school where I have secured a supervisor already but no scholarship or funding .
Which do I pick?

I want to believe that these options are available at two different schools. If they are, then I’d advise you look for money and apply to both schools. It is better to be safe than sorry angry

Wish you all the best

I don’t think there is any school in Canada where by virtues of been admitted, scholarship is guaranteed. And securing supervisor too doesn’t guarantee admission either. Every candidate in such schools has to secure supervisor and it’s from that pool admission decision is made. If he had to make a choice between the two, the first one is clearly the better one to put his money on.

Hi everyone. All the best in our various applications. God will help and favor us all.

I have come to say again that if you have any thought of staying in Canada after study, it will never be a bad idea to read about Canada express entry. Some of us did this time last year and God has been faithful.

I don’t know much about the study visa now but I would advise you write “full admission scholarship” as your sponsor, in the crucial cic form, if you have scholarship that can cover your tuition and living expenses. During my time, I wrote that and only added bank accounts (mine and dad) of less than #2m to my app. Some scholarship holders account was not even up to that and they got their student visa.

Please, I sent you a PM/mail

Be calm and collected.

I had an interview with a POI last Month, it was casual and interesting. The professor told me about his research area and what he'd like me to work on. He told me what interests him about my application and what his expectations. Nothing too technical. I believe most times, they just want to familiarise themselves with you.

If you have specific questions about Tue research area or topic, ask.

You can also ask about his/her lab, the working culture and if there's going to be funding.

I wish you the best...

Thanks dear. Wont NYSC SOA be another confusion? Cant my nysc certificate show that i have been serving my country since graduation? I hope it wont backfire cos my uncle should have enough balance in his bank statement to account for my studies.

Also can I use my father's SOA to support?

Please is it okay to open a domiciliary account and let my uncle transfer my living expenses for the first year there? Then provide SOA for that...will it show a sign of commitment if we dont pay tuition during application cos UAlberta does not do a refund of tuition paid on the bases of denied visa.

Hi,
Do you mean tuition deposit or the whole tuition fee as I am planning to pay my full tuition prior to my study permit application

Thanks

Be cool, all the interviews I have had or seen other people have with potential supervisors, have always been informal like you are talking to a friend. Nothing to worry, just communicate to him in plain language, no preparations are needed. Just back and forth about what your interests are and what the professor's is. They are also usually a little familiar with admissions and can give you a few tips where and how your admission application is holding up.

Hello Nairalanders,

I am a newbie and I have been a silent reader for some time. smiley
Thank you to all the people in this group who take out time to respond to inquiries and posts.

I am applying through the paper route for a study permit in Canada, I choose the paper route because I am also applying with my company and i have a lot of documentation that i will be submitting that would not all go as an online application. I also run my business along with my husband. He will be running the business while I am away with the kids. But we choose to apply for visiting visa so that he can come and visit me and the kids anytime. And so, I am also applying alongside with my husband and two kids for a visitors visa.

My question is this, do I need to do medicals and Police report for himself and my kids? I want to do upfront medicals.

I look forward to your swift response.

Thank you.

GoingForward! smiley

Bosses, please I am already filling the online application of one of the universities in canada, but I don't have my transcript with me as my school are not issuing it yet. But I have my compiled results (from my 100-500 with my CGPA) with me. Can I upload that as an unofficial transcript.
Thanks

Not just results compiled by you. It has to be unofficial copy issued to you by school.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Jewel80(f): 6:11pm On Apr 09, 2018
Darasimiolu:

yes you can

It should be signed and stamped to show authenticity. U can find your way around that if you are good with computers. Unofficial transcript will only get you the admission but before you register to start your cpurse, your school must send your official transcript. That is the main thing
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 6:12pm On Apr 09, 2018
You will fill with a pen for paper application. Try getting it before going to VFS cos it's quite expensive to get a copy around the VFS.

HI GUYS,
Please i need your advice i am a HND holder and i have received my letter of acceptance for advance diploma program in nova scotia. i have printed out the study visa application, have all the requirement aside my proof of financial status which does not meet their requirement but my friend is ready to help me out.
My question is how do i go about it using my friend as a sponsor?
can one have more than one sponsor?
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by makano: 7:00pm On Apr 09, 2018
If ur friend is very capable to sponsor you, why not. Buh he will need to really do his homework as ur sponsor to convince the VO cos the truth is i haven't seen a friend as sponsor since ma stay on dis thread. 2. U can use more than 1 sponsor very possible.. good luck

Once you submit your student visa application, go and read express entry immediately.

Advance diploma visa chances are slim but Permanent residency visa with HND is very high if you’re young and single or married and your spouse educated. I also want to believe you have at least one year experience since you must have served as a Nigerian.

Go and join the express entry room. Your chances and opportunities are higher there.
