Nonsense request. The scheme was meant to give you a platform through which you can : Learn a skill Gain some dignity and confidence Receive some allowance whilst you pursue your other vocational interests. It is meant to be temporary and a production line as other graduates after you are meant to benefit. What should be done with those after You? Try and be independent and stop waiting for the nation to provide work for you. |

barajo1:If you cannot, within 30 secs, scan through this and pick out the main points, your education is worthless Let me help you, the aim of the article is what FG should do, scan through the upper parts which are mainly the benefits of npower (we all know). Go down to where you see "Demands", that's where you get the koko and move on. That shouldn't take 30 secs |

deepwater:I bet u , u didn't read this part ..."Besides, most of us basically live on the stipends paid to us, mainly for our transportations to and from our respective places of primary assignment, our feedings and other basic necessities we need to acquire. It is practically impossible for us to still have a saving out of the stipends, most especially in this economic reality where the price of goods and services have skyrocketed in the market; not even minding some other inevitable domestic responsibilities to cater for." smh, the op is confused , the truth is staring at him in the face but he is just a booty licker ! our youth should wake up and tell themselves the truth. N-power is not the solution to unemployment . |

Digitalfinga Bjayx Deepwater This Npower scheme was not organized right from the onset and can be seen as mere patch work to the terrible situation of youth unemployment. Bill Gates rightly pointed at the need for government to invest more in education and healthcare. The Npower scheme properly targetted these areas of deficiencies. Where government has failed is in not building a framework to ensure that adequate funding for the scheme is available and also the absorption of quality graduates on completion of the initial 2 years. Government should have implemented the oronsanya report. As the former head of civil service of the federation, Oronsanya conducted research and found that several MDA'S had replication of jobs and services so he wrote a report to the president (Yaradua) advising that such mda's be merged together to save the government of much needed funds. This makes sense as why should the government waste money on individuals who aren't adding any benefit to the public when our schools and hospital lack much needed staff. Government should have increased tax collection on the rich. Nigeria is a highly unequal country. Recently it was revealed that our "honourable" minister of communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, purchased 12 houses and 25 cars over the period of the last 3 years. According to our extant laws, the money he used to purchase these items was legally earned by him as an "honourable" minister of the federal republic of Nigeria. Such behavior is prevalent across all sectors of government. Barr. Shittu may not be found guilty for fraud in a court of law but he can be taxed heavily to ensure Nigeria recovers our lost wealth. Such funds can be used to refurbish our public schools and also employ youths into permanent positions with liveable salaries. Government should maintain the same tarriffs rate with our neighboring countries. Why should vehicles be cheaper in Benin Republic than in Nigeria? Why should an airline ticket be cheaper in Ghana than over here in Nigeria? Government should focus it's revenue generation on the rich in our society and not on the struggling people. The former CBN boss, SLS, said that 5 percent of Nigerians account for 90 of bank deposits in Nigeria. This 5 percent of people should also be the sole focus of tax increases in the country. After all, to he who much is given, much is expected. Middle income and low income people do businesses to survive so the more money in their pockets would enable them to employ more unemployed youths. Finally, government should focus squarely on improving of macro-economy to ensure price stability both in the dollar rate and market prices of goods and services. Is this too much to ask for? |

This country continues to baffle me, why do we all try to redesign a system already initiated to serve a purpose. We all continue to abuse and chastise our leaders not knowing they aren't foreign individuals but Nigerians too like us. We are just too greedy and self centered in this country, the same way one person will rep a constituency for more than a decade not wanting to shift ground for a new person. If you guys are really that patriotic and ready to work, why not clamor for permanency during Nysc while being posted to Borno Instead of thinking on how to exit the prog. Before it's expiration by getting something doing personally, you are writing epistle to a man who himself is another matter entirely. Let's live and let others live. You have been chosen for two years. By December, if you have not yet figure out your bearing, then I guess no palliative can help you. Other people dey Queue abeg. |

Not a bad request to make even those coming behind in this programme will still make this request at the end of their two years, so, y criticizing some one for making a request so dearing to him. He has just express the fear of so many Npower beneficiaries who hitherto were private school teachers being paid a meagre amount of 15 to 20 000 naira along with the insult that comes with it. What happens to the knowledge acquired from their teaching in government schools for these two years after the expiration of the programme? Is it for them to go back to the private schools to start earning 20k? Nobody wants to go back to his or her vomits, hence you don't blame the Op for this request.. Our schools lack teachers and that is the truth, so it isn't a bad idea if dedicated ones amongst them are given a permanent status as a teacher. Everybody cannot open schools after this two years, hence the need for government to look into their requests. It is just an appeal and the oncoming ones should not be afraid, cos before the expiration of their two years programme, so many teachers would have retired nation wide, there by giving them rooms to make their own request too. May God bless us all amen! |

This is rubbish, if they take you in and make you permanent staffs, will they continue with the 30k pay or absorb you into the federal civil service and pay you what civil servants earn. You should write to the state governments to take you in each sector and not the federal government. Your letter is dead on arrival though cos their are people at the sit of power who will replace npower beneficiaries with their wards if you want to be taken into the federal civil service. Start up something and stop waiting for this buhari-led government |

Wash!!! What I expected a sensible government to do was create a youth empowerment scheme just as the last administration did devoid of ethnic, religious bais or better still continue the you win program of the last administration. At least it created employers of labour instead of this hogwash of giving stipend. To the OP, you understood the terms of engagement before signing up. So no need asking for more because others are also waiting in line for their share. NPower ko, NLosser ni |

trillville:This your comment makes sense die. I wish it could get to the minister of budget and economic planning also the minister of finance. I bet they know it too but vested interest won't allow them to the right things. Many Nigerians know the solution to our myriad of problems but the will to do it when they get to the corridors of power. |

blazhykowskyi:We don't need these old men to change things. These old men in rulership know this truth. They make it seem like they are doing the youths a favour but in reality they are supposed to be pensioners now. Look, we have the power. Elections are just a year from now. we have no choice as youths but to vote out these old men and vote in a youth. We cannot reward failures by voting them back in. The average age of Nigerians is 17 years old. Even if a younger person doesn't win the election, if we get enough votes, these old people will be forced to listen to us and do more for us. We have no choice but to use our pvc's. Out with the old and in with the youth. |
