Hi mums,

Please who knows or got this immunisation for their baby - 'Meningococcal conjugate'?

I want to know if its important or my hospital just want to Scam me. Its to be given at 10 weeks and also 6 months.

It was initially not on the list of immunizations they gave me. But when we got to hospital for her 6 weeks immunizations, I Was informed they have added Meningococcal conjugate to the 10 weeks immunization and its 10k so I should be prepared. I told them I'm under hmo, super executive for that matter, but they said that no hmo covers this particular immunization. Contacted hmo too, they said this immunizations isn't there.

Please if its important and you received it for ur baby, I want to know any health center or hospital that gives it for a lesser price or free sef cos 10k is not chicken change. Around Ojodu Berger or ikeja. Thanks

Sorry for the late response, yes some babies react to it others don't! It's usually mild and stops by itself after a day or so. The reaction is usually some bit of loose stool nothing more.

my baby reacted to it, though I'm not very certain if it's the rotavirus or one of the others cos she got 4 immunization. High temperature and very cranky, crying all day and through the night. But very better the next day.

Not just the milk but the quantity and frequency of his feed is important and vital to weight gain.

You can try pre- nan it bulks up preemie baby's so should help your boy to add up.

Aptamil is another 'rich' formula though I didn't use but I've heard so much about it.

If you are lactating well please do combined feeding that is alternate between breastmilk and formula! I did it with my son yet we still exhausted a 400gm tin of formula in 4 days! He maintained a steady 1kg weight gain monthly till about 7 months old.

Good evening ma'am
I remember you said your LO weighed 4.5 at 6 weeks and 5.5 at 10weeks which is even more than what my LO weighs but I've never had an issue with it
But now that you've mentioned him being a lil bit underweight makes me kinda worried
My Lo weighed 2.7kg at birth
3.7kg at 6weeks
4.6kg at 10weeks and
5.5kg at 14weeks.
I feed based on demand and we are not on exclusive.
We use nan1
Is there something else I need to do?
What's the recommended weight at 14weeks?

So long as you are breastfeeding him well, he does not need water, please. Breastfeeding well means burping him in between feeds and never over feeding him or her.

Infant hiccups is pretty normal and is usually caused by over feeding.

Do nothing but feed and burp, he will be fine. Ignore the hiccups
in my own case, I'm not doing exclusive breastfeeding (I feed her formula, once or twice a day), is it OK to introduce water to her feeding since we're not on exclusive? My baby is 7 weeks. She hiccups a lottt too.

I've been wondering if I'm wrong not giving her water for such a long time, even hiccups aside ??

There's no recommend per se every child is different and ratio of weight to height is a better yardstick to know if your child is underweight. Since your health provider didn't see any issue with it I'm guessing your babys percentile should be in the OK range.

Assuming your baby is tall his weight may be littler lower than others his age but shorter.

My suggestion will be to try timed bottle feeding let's say every 3 hours and then breast feed in between.

Okay ma'am
Maybe I'll give timed bottle feeding a try again, cause I've tried it before and he refuses feeds at regular intervals esp when I breast feed in between. Guess he wasn't hungry den
Thanks for your swift response kiss

liftedhands... thanks so much for this enlightenment.my son is a tall boy from birth. his weight at at 10weeks immunization was 5.4kg and 14weeks 5.5kg.this made me go into findings about his appropriate weight and doc said he is suppose to believe at least 6kg by that 14weeks. he had been on formula without water. I feed on demand so I don't count how many times I feed him a day but he is still not fat. doctors point at the fact that the cord round his neck with knot had deprived him of getting enough nutrients from me the mother during pregnancy.due to this placenta didn't supply food to him. he was just living by grace.i have seen someone with similar condition whose baby too was small due to same condition of no food supply from placenta.she gave her child enframil and the child is now adding weight. that was why I came on board too to ask. for breastfeeding I don't breastfeed him enough. I take the blame for that. I stopped drinking water for me to have enough milk and I did that with the mindset of total dependance on formula.but I have decided that from this morning I will correct my wrong. once again thank you

As I read dis ur post I smiled cos I reacted same way when I was told about it also called Hmo and they gave same reply. Although my hospital gave it at 1yr not 6weeks and was also same amount. The accountant in me came out until dh went and paid with his card. the thing pained me. He kept consoling me with give ur child the best. So if u can afford it give it. They also said its a requirement when the child wants to travel abroad (same way they ask for yellow fever).

Once your LO is taking anything else apart from bm then you need to give water.

The only reactions you'd get from rota is runny, smelly shyte. The smell is everything, get your nose prepped. cheesy

Some babies are Agaba and won't react.

Mbula and Awesomemama.

Try feeding on the clock. The time interval is usually every 2 hours if you're breastfeeding and make sure the child finishes both full breast. Even if the child is asleep, try to make him feed.
If you're using formula and he doesn't take the bottle recommended for his age on the tin, then reduce the quantity and increase the number of feeds to avoid wastage. So even in the middle of the night please feed him or wake up to breastfeed him. Also give him water.
You might also want to give him Abidec. It helps them to eat and I'm only mentioning this because the Dr confirmed him to be underweight. Buy the imported one not the Nigerian one and watch him chow like never before.

Good luck kiss
And let's know how it goes.

I always used this as a kind of guide. . .

However, other factors influence weight gain or otherwise on babies so nothing is cast in stone. If your Paed says your baby is healthy, then rest your mind
