What I mean is:
When you go the bank tomorrow, you won't have to bid as you will be buying from the secondary market. Bids only happen at the primary market auctions, the next of which is scheduled for this week's Wednesday.

Except, what you meant in your original post is that you're going to place a bid/an instruction tomorrow for the upcoming Wednesday auction.

If that's the case, then kindly forgive my taking your post out of context. It must have been that phrase " to buy T-bills tomorrow"

Do you mean the rates obtained in the secondary market will be fixed for the different tenors? Since the primary market rates could vary depend on negotiations, I thought this should mean that the secondary market rates would also vary depending on the rate the seller obtained it from the primary market. Correct me pls

I totally agree with every suggestion/point you've made.

We should research more on investment vehicles available across Africa.
Eurobonds are great hedges against currency fluctuations.
I don't really think anyone should keep idle funds in their dorm accounts, when those funds could be earning. The FMDQ provides secondary market for some of those bonds too, making it possible to terminate prematurely if you want. I however don't know what the investment threshold is.

Like I said, I appreciate every point you've made. Thank you.

Many thank to you Sir.

I'll sure share the outcome of whatever finds I make.

When you're buying from the primary market auction, at the time you're giving your instruction, or placing your bid, you don't know yet, the rate you will get. You have to wait for the outcome of the auction.

For the secondary market, the bank makes you offers of available rates and tenors, that way you know what rate you're getting right before you buy the bills.

Think of it this way:

You told a friend to get you a phone, and you give him #100,000 cos you think that should be the range. However you wouldn't know the actual cost of the phone until he returns from the store. That's primary market.

On the other hand, your friend could be selling you a phone which he has already bought from the store, brand new albeit. In this case, you will know the cost right before you give him your money. That's secondary market.

However, like you said, the rates obtainable in the secondary market depend largely on what the seller got from the primary market.

NDIC, which is the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation has just placed an explicit warning to Nigerians to steer off the popular and the fast rising bitcoin trading and its relations as it is not yet authorized in the country by the Central Bank of Nigeria and isn’t backed up by any law in the Nigeria’s constitution.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has recovered a total of N216,402,565.05 (Two Hundred and Sixteen Million, Four Hundred and Two Thousand, Five Hundred Sixty Naira, Five Kobo) only from Swiss Golden Investment, an online investment that purportedly deals in buying and selling of Gold Bars.

The recovery was sequel to a petition the Commission received from thousands of complainants who alleged that they invested in Swiss Golden Investment which was advertised as an online investment that deals with buying and selling of Gold Bars.

The petitioner further alleged that after investing over a billion naira into the business, the company refused to pay them any dividend or pay them back their capital. Upon receipt of the petition, the Commission invited the petitioners and they volunteered statements.

Through intelligence, the Commission picked up one Maxim Lobaty, a Russian and two Nigerians: Austin Emenike and Dickson Nonso Onuchukwu in Lagos.

The trio were subsequently conveyed to the Kano operational zone of the EFCC for further investigation. Swiss Golden which is headquartered in Hong Kong was discovered through investigation to be a Ponzi scheme that was designed to defraud innocent victims of their hard earned money.

Yello guyz....awesomej......alikote......and all. I greet u righteously.
In as much as we want the best from our investments , we should be careful on how ambitious we get. Buying bonds or other money instruments from other countries could be counter productive .........apart from currency fluctuations , procedures and strategy must be thoroughly thought out.

For me, I have quietly applied to reinvest tomorrow, hopefully I'll get at least 13%. As the rates are dropping I will either be content with whatever little returns I can get on TB or I think of a SAFE means of investing. Remember guyz it our LIFE SAVINGS.

Don't mind us. It's the "sweetness" of the 18% days we're missing. Caution remains the watchword.

However, we can still try finding out all we can about offshore investments. Even if it's just for the knowledge.

Like you said, we will be very careful.

You can say that again about the 18%. Do you think we'll get better than current rates once the 2018 budget is passed?

Support and Resistance

Support and Resistance are technical words used in technical analysis in stock, forex, commodities etc.

Support and Resistance is a concept that the movement of the price of a stock will tend to stop and reverse at certain predetermined price levels. These levels are denoted by multiple touches of price without a breakthrough of the level.

Support levels are where demand is perceived to be strong enough to prevent the price from falling further, while resistance levels are prices where selling is perceived to be strong to prevent prices from rising higher.

Support and Resistance levels are psychological important levels where a lot of buyers and sellers are willing to trade the stock.

When trend lines are broken, the market psychology shifts and new levels of support and resistance are established.

GTC ORDER

Do you know what a GTC order is?

GTC simply means Good Till Cancelled. A good till cancel order is an order placed by an investor/ trader to buy or sell a stock at a specified price,of which the price remains active until it is either canceled by the investor/ trader or the trade is executed.
It offers an alternative to placing a sequence of day orders which expires at the end of each trading day.

GTC orders are commonly set to expire within a week to a month after trade are entered on the floor of Nigeria Stock Exchange.

Simply put, GTC orders provide investors/traders the convenience of placing orders at specified price points, which can also be referred to as limit orders, that remains in force until they reach an expiration date, either they are executed or are canceled. These orders can be entered to buy or sell stock, or as stop orders.

Good afternoon my able investors, I am willing to invest a substantial amount of money in tbills since Monday, but my bank Diamond has been giving me an outrageous rate that I can't go for since Monday, first it was 12% for 234 days on Monday which I wanted to manage but they couldn't meet up cos they said all applications close 12pm daily, then on Tuesday I was given 11.75% for 232 days I couldn't go for it because its too low hoping that if I wait it will get better. Today they are giving me 10.75% for 232 days, I guess this people are playing on my intelligence. Please what are d obtainable rates in other banks today. I want to know before drawing conclusion. Thanks you as I await ever intelligent contributions.
