Well! The truth is any attempt to mislead someone in any matter or dealings whatsoever in the course of business is bad and ought to be tagged by law as wrong but Naija law enforcement agencies na something else.......

But I must correct you here, there is no rule on Nairaland that states that you must provide a VIN before you paste car ads.

The rate at which people are misled to buy cars that have a history that is unpleasant to prospective clients, makes it desirable that VIN be posted, but I must say that it is not a rule.

I think it is high time Nairaland wakes up from its slumber and make sound rules for the auto-section with the consequence of a ban in the absence of compliance.

Though I must admit, that some middle men will have a hard time selling cars, as most of them may not have the time or patience or even easily accessible resources to be checking VIN for every car they wanna sell, so it is likely that such folks will take their businesses elsewhere in the event that such a policy becomes a rule - which in turn may affect traffic to the auto-section, which I don't believe is desirable for the traffickers on Nairaland kwa........ undecided -but then again, like I said, VIN posting though desirable is not a rule.....
Dis one no undastand. Bobs we no need make middlemen check vin. Wetin we need na make dem post vin. 4 d point about ppl leaving if it’s made compulsory, abeg good riddance. Meanwhyl u de try appear neutral but your bias de show. U try bobs.

Bias ke? undecided

I bow for you, well na your opinion.

But trust me, if you enter berger yard or most places where dealers thrive, pose as Middleman, tell dealer say you wan snap car show buyer. Car whey be say the dealer tell you say na clean title, non-accidented.

Then you tell them make them open door for you, make you snap where VIN dey, make you show prospective buyers (no be say you get buyers there, there or you carry buyer come).

You whey no get bias, Wetin you think say that dealer go tell you? Especially when the dealer know say the title, no too clean like that or even self, E dirty well well........... grin

You are a middleman and technically you hold the short end of the stick, so most likely if you meet a dealer whey tell you say na clean title and is a dealer that is not too friendly with middlemen (trust me I know because I am not), you are bound to take his word for it and wait for a buyer to ask for his right to request a VIN.

That's why I made that bolded comment, from my observation - I stand to be corrected - 6 out of 10 dealers dey treat middlemen like mosquito or lik
Housefly whey wan enter E mouth....... grin

So if a middleman is found to have posted an ad without a VIN, I, as a reasonable human being can understand....... cool

Highest, if I am interested, I will go there, inspect, satisfy my longthroat and curiosity and then demand for the VIN so that I can be sure that the history of the car is as pleasant as advertised....... smiley

But, what I refuse to understand is a middleman calling himself a dealer (especially when he knows that he doesn't have verified info about a car, special emphasis on verified) or a dealer refusing to disclose the actual status of a car........ angry

That one is a different kettle of smelling fish.........angry

As for the good riddance matter, make God help you make E be say you be Nairaland Mod, make Seun catch you dey talk good riddance for matter whey fit reduce traffic for Nairaland . Na only you go share testimony give us grin

That guy like traffic pass the way Lalasticlala like snake......... grin

Don't just go there....... grin

Just the fact that this thread has somehow escaped the mods while the other threads espousing contrary opinions lasted 12 hours max is instructive.
