2by5:While switching from Arts (and working as a CCR) to International studies in itself is not a problem or red flag as you put it, proving that it's a decision that took time and serious research to make is important. That's what you should be thinking of. America is the land of the free, a country of opportunities. You're free to choose whatever, change your mind whenever, make mistakes, etc., the VO only wants to see that you put effort, know what you're doing and that you have what it takes to succeed in Grad school. If you had a son who studied History at Undergrad level, comes to ask you to sell your house for money so he can go get a Master's degree in Physics at the University of Ibadan for example, aren't you going to ask that boy to convince you on why you should invest in such an idea? It may look impossible, but don't underestimate the power of determination, enthusiasm and focus. I hope that analogy gives you an idea of what I'm trying to say. Have a great day. ![]() |

I have two problems anyone that can help.. I finish my secondary school in 2014 and now I’m a 400L student but I never included that on my DS-160.. I applied for undergraduate in Cleveland state University Because I don’t want them to know I’m in a particular school right now.. my question is.. if the VO ask me what have I been doing since 2014 what should I say?? NO 2 I actually applied for 3 schools but I included only one unknowingly to avoid further discussion from the VO What if I’m asked how many schools did I applied for.. can I say 3?? well known for me that it’s not on my DS-160 can I get penalized?? Can I say somethings that happens not be be on my DS-160 can I be penalized??.. I need help.. my interview is just few days ahead please Please your responses are highly appreciated My interview is so near Please please please God bless you all |

Wonderful job guys, please my case is a little different because am applying for a non-immigration visa. I got an invitation for my community cultural conference in Florida, and i have a brother who stays in Atlanta with the family and have been citizens for over 20 years and gainfully employed. They are willing to sponsor my trip but since i started making enquiries about USA visa interview everyone is just saying they will deny me visa. Am a graduate, finished 2014(i know it's inconsequential) no job, no fat acct balance (but i can get someone to manufacture an employment letter tho i want to be truthful to them) but i am a fashion designer. I mean i know am handicapped when they consider my ties with Naija. What can i do to Savage this situation now as my interview is first week of May. Advise please... |

Ayooluwa18:When you ask a question and you get no reply, it's not because people are ignoring you, it's probably because they read it and didn't know how to reply and are keeping it open until someone who knows how to, replies. The case is different if you mention someone and ask them a direct question and they don't say anything (again, they have the right to not say anything). If you ask a question openly, it's nice to wait and hope someone has an answer. Common mistakes: Asking a question that has been answered over and over on the thread. Sometimes people don't wanna keep saying the same thing. Another mistake is a question like "I finished school in 1995, tell me how to start everything from scratch, give me a list of schools, and everything I need to do". People frown when you don't give them the impression you've made an attempt to seek information on your own especially if that information is easy to get. This same thing leads to visa denials, when applicants make a VO get the vibe that they didn't put in effort to get informed. That being said, while you're waiting for someone to answer your question, read previous pages. I promise, sometimes, the answer you're waiting for is already there. Finally, I know how it feels when it looks like others are getting their questions answered and you're not, just be patient and everything's gonna be good. |

You will need to write GRE. Evaluate your transcript with WES, I'm not sure if you need to include your PGD. Check East Tennessee State University, Georgia Southern uni. And universities in Texas. You will also have to apply through SOPHAS. Ayooluwa18: |

Coxtie:Rule Number 1: Don't lie to your VO Rule Number 2: Rule Number 1 Those guys are trained psychologists and can easily detect if you're lying through your eyes and your body. If you finished secondary school in 2014, you can tell the VO that you were studying a course here in Nigeria but you should be able to strongly convince the VO why s(he) let you go another degree. If you applied to 3 schools, tell the VO that you applied to 3 schools. If I may ask, why not masters? |

Hope I will not be penalized because it is not on my DS-160?? |

Walspring:I greet you, Please my question is, i have an Aunt in the USA( a nurse and citizen too) she will sponsor my masters, will it raise an issue at the interview because she is not based in Nigeria? Or should i be my own sponsor? Which one is better chance. Most people i have seen here have their sponsor base in Nigeria. |

Coxtie:Sorry this is coming late, been busy. Oh well, it doesn't entirely mean you'll be refused a visa. Applying to more than one school and writing the tests are just one of the backups one has. I've seen people who got a visa without writing the tests and applied to just one school. All in all, everything is very possible. Blessings! |
