This thread has made me realize a lot of people who usually come here to make all sorts of noise don't have their PVC.

What stops you from sacrificing an entire day for it? Don't you know the bad policies thereafter will be felt for years to come? What is that compared to making sacrifices for a day or two? Fools!

This made me laugh. Why call them fools?

Sacrifice a day or 2 right. You must be an entrepreneur. How many places of work will allow a staff go for a day or 2 to get voters card. When cases of ill health are frowned on.

If the voters card was something you'll get in a day many would get it but there are constraints to obtaining it. Get there by 5 a.m line up wait till 4 then comeback tomorrow . What sort of crap is that?

Will you let your staff go for 2 days to obtain voters card and come the third day to say he hasn't received it? Won't you say it's a lie.

As the 2019 general election approaches, more and more Nigerians are taking the issue of getting their PVCs (Permanent Voters Cards) seriously and a twitter user just shared how he disqualified 3 job seekers who claimed not to have PVC.

According to Afolayan Omotayo who shared the story on Twitter, he wrote;
"I helped a friend to conduct interviews for staffing in her office yesterday, 9 candidates were in attendance. I disqualified 3 of them who claimed not to have PVC automatically. That makes my job easy. It begins from there, extending to Mechanic, Electrician etc."

As a matter of fact, what the man did was neither right nor wrong. Was it somewhat harsh, probable. Was it legal? Definitely it is! Could the company have lost the best candidate for the job? Probably. Different strokes for different folks. He personally feels if you're nonchalant with your basic civic duties, then, nothing stops you from seeing the job as a mere mean to an end! I for one have seen these situation(s) countless times. Recruitment policies for organisations are not unanimous. Conclusively, we Nigerians,(youths especially) need to understand the difference between hating the government and your country. Hate the government, not your country! For the love of your country, get your PVC! It's a powerful tool that's so underrated

Very bad criteria he used, might have lost the best person for the job, what happens to accepting the beat candidate and showing him reasons why he has to get a PVC

everybody is criticizing but not seeing the point he raised.
the first and most important is that it is prerogative to do so, afterall, it is his company.

second is political inclusiveness he wants to imbibe in his organisation going forward which i strongly agree. we have all been clamouring for youthful participation and somebody decides to do something and we still complaining.

after the presidents comment on doing nothing and wanting everything, getting your pvc should be every youths concern cos they need to make a resounding statement, not on social media but at the ballot boxes. its a very serious matter. it will be the slap of the century if such presidency is allowed to continue without an open apology to every nigerian youth.

Any youth that doesnt take that serious, i doubt cannot take his or her job serious cos if they did, the would feel the pain of such reckless statement. they would know such is not true.

finally, there is no best man for the job because everyone has his or her own competitive advantage. we just pick one random person who seems ideal but at the end of the day, how we fair on the job depends on our ability to learn on the job.

To me is a good criteria to disqualified a candidate if his business dealing with government contract, his like transport managers that are not having driver licence whether they will give him car or not. We should not blame the man what of if all of them qualified for the job.

Is there an opportunity to write in a name during voting process?

I would just write in Wole Soyinka.

seriously, at the current state of things, we have to force people down South like this. We are too complacent when it comes to voting but the illiterates up North have their pvc. Is it not a shame to beat your chest and call yourself a graduate but don't have what the illiterates up North have--pvc.

I support whatever means to get people down South to register. Enough is enough.

If I had the wherewithal, I would have led a massive media and cyber campaign. Your pvc becomes your passport or else you don't get access to basic things...

Enough is enough please.

That's what everyone say, "I wouldn't vote" but yet you see Nigerians youth complaining all over the place especially on social media. They know the political history of Nigeria, argue here and there, but simply get a voters card they wouldn't get.

Reason anywhere I see men arguing, I simply walk away. Your ranting wouldn't change a thing till you take action and vote.

Stop giving excuses, it applies in other aspect of life.

You said what if, you're assuming right?

I don't see anything wrong with what he did, what about those that dump 2.1 and go for first class even when we know the person with 2.1 can perform better, oh just because he used PVC.

That's his own criteria to select the best candidate for the job, when you're serious about making something work, you get what you need to make it work.

If you want to make Nigeria a better place after complaining of hardship, you get your PVC to vote in a better candidate.

Now if you want to make your business work, you get the required tools to make it work.

My opinion.

So who is this special candidate under whom Nigerians will not complain of hardship anymore? Bandwagons everywhere!
By the way, an employer that uses such criterion for employment will obviously use voting out the current government as another criterion for the employees keeping their jobs!
