Britain liked the indirect rule in the North via local kings. Their local rulers had a firm grip. The feudalistic system suited the British & the Northern elites perfectly.

Southern populations were more educated and more radical. The British hated that. They generally hate anyone who is bold & ambitious, they wanted subservient subjects. Even after independence. The Northerners fitted that bill more. Simple.
Ignorance is indeed a disease. You ever considered why the North had a system that the British admired and adopted 100% as at 1903? A comprehensive tax management, elaborate census, literacy in Arabic, obedience to the authorities, etc. Apart from the Muslim South West, no literal person could be found in the south before the coming of the British. Or you think the colonial officers were on weed when they did what they did?

That is also how the North Lords herself over the rest of Nigeria. The truth is bitter but Northern Nigeria controls the structure of Nigeria using all available tools at their disposal including population,politics and government,civil service,military,national assembly,house of Representatives,Nigerian constitution,federal character and quota system that are used to manipulate most entry level criteria be it in admissions,appointments,promotions,etc.
Even the zoning system adopted by political parties will always favour the north more.
As long as politics remains a game of numbers,the situation wouldn't change anytime soon.
That is why they are vehemently opposed to the ideas of restructuring or 'real' ammendment of the Nigerian constitution.
My people in the middle belt,South,East and west;you just have to live with the reality until God knows when... Byeeeeeeeee

Yes, that's true.

The North was the most submissive part of the ''Niger area'' when Britain arrived here. It didn't take them much effort to claim that region, and that's why they merged them with the South as a reward. Today, you see Buhari still bowing down to the queen of England. Now you know why he frequent Britain.

Britain just see them as a tool. They don't have any respect for them for that same purpose.
