I told those shouting restructuring and that Buhari will never win again to sit back and see how the North will use the massive rigged number of voters at their disposal to rob others.

Britain liked the indirect rule in the North via local kings. Their local rulers had a firm grip. The feudalistic system suited the British & the Northern elites perfectly.

Southern populations were more educated and more radical. The British hated that. They generally hate anyone who is bold & ambitious, they wanted subservient subjects. Even after independence. The Northerners fitted that bill more. Simple.

Imagine handing over to Pa Awo, to join Nkrumah & Lumumba, that was not going to happen. They rigged the 1959 election to favour the North. Same with census figures. At least some British colonial officers of that time now admit as much.

Left to the North they would have remained under the British till around mid-1970s.

The truth is bitter but Northern Nigeria controls the structure of Nigeria using all available tools at their disposal including population,politics and government,civil service,military,national assembly,house of Representatives,Nigerian constitution,federal character and quota system that are used to manipulate most entry level criteria be it in admissions,appointments,promotions,etc.
Even the zoning system adopted by political parties will always favour the north more.
As long as politics remains a game of numbers,the situation wouldn't change anytime soon.
That is why they are vehemently opposed to the ideas of restructuring or 'real' ammendment of the Nigerian constitution.

Oba Urhogbua had his secondary education in Sai Tome and had his university education in Lisbon university, purtugal. The first Nigerian to speak poutugues was Oba Olua. Then, the fulanis were still in caves when we had embassy in Portugal. Benin empire was a country of it's own then.

I like it when people go into history. Because most people are bad at it, even if they do not know. Now regarding Dosunmu & Kosoko.

It is well known that Kosoko was loyal to Benin Empire, Eleko being a descendant of a Benin prince. On paper the British claimed to want to stop slave trade. Whereas it was about total control of Lagos. Slave trade was banned 200 years earlier already in Benin.

Dosunmu (called Docemo by the British) was forced to sign Lagos over to the British under threat of bombardment by British navy at Lagos wharf. The so-called support by the British was indeed a scripted plan to create Lagos Colony. Supporting Dosunmu would make him vulnerable & malleable to the British. And it worked. So read up history properly.

As for OBJ & census, do not pretend that that census was acceptable. Lagos for example didn't think Kano still has more population than Lagos, after Jigawa was carved out. Lagos later published its own population estimate. It is on public record.

The earlier manipulation by the British (as admitted by some British officials who were involved, unless you want to claim you that was not there know better), has served as a template for the North. Since they have used it to garner more local governments, states, NASS members, resource allocation and other economic and political advantages over time. They were never going to give up that and have locally continued artificial population inflation. Is it not the same Northerners who count themselves? They have tasted free oil allocated on such basis. The North has continued to be an obstacle to any effort at meaningful reform. Be it state police, resource control or decentralisation.

In every country, semi-Arid or Arid parts support less population. The coastal areas/river banks and rain forest support huge population growth. Even in Libya, Algeria, Egypt, etc. Only in Nigeria do Northerners claim that the dry areas bordering on the Sahel has more people.

The North always claim that they marry more wives and bear more kids. But they do not tell us how many of those kids die of poverty, or the teenage brides who die in labour or get maimed by vagina fistula, making them not able to get married again or have kids after being divorced.
