Many men ridicule and disconnect themselves from the feminist movement. But I think it's time they start comprehending and associating themselves with it.
“Full definition of feminism:

1: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.”

Now that sounds like a very positive thing, a thing that everyone should rally for, doesn’t it? But for some reason guys (speaking generally here) like to throw that term around as an insult. If a woman is ranting about the struggles of womanhood she’s just an “irrational feminist,” and it even turns into an insult towards sexual orientation where men throw around insults about people being a “feminist lesbian”(as if either of those things are a bad thing to be). This has turned into a word that should make people feel ashamed, rather than empowered. This is a disgusting thing, and it’s turned into just a thing feminists have to deal with, that their title is to be seen as a joke to guys.

Men don’t like this term because on social media they are offended when hashtags such as #MasculinitySoFragile poke fun at men, but they act as if women haven’t been at the end of jokes for the entirety of their lives so far. Referring back to the definition, feminism means “equality of the sexes,” so if you want to make a women-in-the-kitchen joke, a woman can definitely make a joke about a man’s precious masculinity. I think that’s also where the problem stems from: men don’t think about, or truly understand what this movement is about, it’s just an inconvenience to them. They throw around the term “Social Justice Warrior” or “SJW” around, but why is that such a bad thing when they just want everyone to have the same opportunities? The same reason you would be judged by your friends for liking a nice romantic comedy movie is the same reason that women get judged for deciding that they want to get their hands dirty and become a mechanic: social inequality. Men don’t really acknowledge, or even really know, that this movement they ridicule is actually in their best interest as well as women.

I cannot think of one reason why a man should not identify with and be behind feminism. In a constantly judging world, wouldn’t it be nice to not have to worry about your masculinity or how tough you are? Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to enjoy the music, movies, and even hygienic products you like without the world telling you that you’re not as “manly” as the dude in the gym shoveling in protein and watching action movies with his bros? These scenarios are possible with feminism. Do not misconstrue this as me selling you feminism like product on a shelf, just understand that it’s actually common sense.

Feminism is the best thing that have ever happened to mankind.
