yes even in america, they do but if you have all the papers complete you would be left alone but what if you ask me which country would you see a police officer order you to pack and collect money when no incriminating materials were found on you? then the answer is nigeria

BadBradley:
Since the police administration has ruled against roadblocks and barricading the highways with sticks, drums and other objects by police, the Nigeria police has quickly improvised to using their bodies as shields , stoping vehicles without any reason other than to witch-hunt motorists for extortion.

Is there anywhere in the world where police stop random vehicles asking for vehicle papers and indiscriminate searching without any reason?

Only in Nigeria!

The norm in America is police would ask for your papers when you run a read light, beat speed limits or commit some other traffic or criminal offence.

Police doesn't stop motorists WITHOUT ANY REASON in America. There must be a reason/cause for the stop!

* Modified. Please understand before police stops anyone/motorists for search or investigation, there must be a probable cause for that.

Without a legal/reasonable cause, it becomes police harrassment.

i still maintain that in some instances, there are such situations, visit youtube and see, yes they do and they would tell you just routine check but politely let you know that they are just checking. when you have all your papers, you are free to go.

@ the emboldened, that's exactly the point I have been making. It's an exception and not the norm everywhere else. Especially when there's a missing vehicle of same brand or suspect of same look or race.

In Nigeria the practice is stopping motorists for papers without any probable reason with long traffic and demand for vehicle papers not covered by law.

The motive is just for extortion.
