Meadowvale. i stay 4 hours away from 'sauga now but i'm familiar with Meadowvale area, mostly b/c I've been to erin mills town centre a few times before and i studied a few times at the meadowvale library before they moved. sorry about your negative experiences. i've had my own share of negative experiences and think mine are even worse, but you just brush them off. much of the racism in the country's covert; no one thinks it exists b/c people are often subtle about it. i will say that Polish folks that i've met are usually nice tho, but i might be biased b/c my closest friend in high sch was a very nice Polish girl.

Racism in any form is bad. Nobody should be discriminated against because of the colour of his skin. Last time I checked, the content of a man's character has nothing- absolutely nothing- to do with the colour of the skin his bones are covered with. With that out of the way, let me say sometimes the crimes and unsavoury behaviours of some blacks against blacks and non-blacks keep reenforcing the stereotype that a vast majority of blacks deserve to be accorded little sense of civility when dealing with them. I've listened to whites and Asians laying out reasons why they not are of having any sort of dealings with blacks especially Nigerians. Some years ago, an atrocious trend was started by some Nigerians in Seoul, South Korea. What those good-for-nothings lots were doing was bailing from taxis without paying the taxi fare. They'd alight a block away from their destination, pat their pockets as though they were retrieving some money then bolt like Usain Bolt! When taxi drivers in Itaewon ( a bustling part of Seoul) realised blacks were fiddling them, almost all of them stopped picking black passengers. The evil of a minute number of blacks literally robbed off on the entire black community in Seoul. So sometimes before we scream racism, we should first take a minute to look into the situation or situations leading up to whatever ugly position we find ourselves as blacks.

A plausible one here! However, methinks that it's gonna be very difficult for any Nigerian in Canada to be viewed in unsavory goggles. From my observation, it's obvious that anyone with an 'hustler' bias will do these stuffs more. Add to that those who have nothing to loose.

If the current trend of middle class Nigerians migrating on PR and Education continues, we might soon wish the madness of being discriminated upon bye-bye. You must be capable and honorable as a Nigerian to legally migrate to Canada these days and that can always increase one's self-worth. A man with a very healthy dose of self-worth tends to honor himself and all around him which in turn help project the image of his/her community.

I'm so sure that it's the Black Refugees that are creating this crazy impression and they're mostly in Quebec and some parts of Ontario. They're the ones that crossed the borders from US. They've got nothing to loose and that's why we need to castigate them severely.

I live, not in Nigeria and I have been racially discriminated against. Yes. But not more than I have been ethnically profiled back home. And no less than I have, subconsciously, racially and ethnically profiled persons too; and acted favourably or otherwise based on my bias.

What I have learned therefore is to relish the moment if I find myself a victim today (so long there is no threat to my life). The table turns rather too often.

And if for some reasons my villain and I would have to endure a medium to long term relationship (like co-workers), what I do is work on myself, my attutudes, et al to earn his trust. The humanity in him will prevail.

But adjudicator Esi Codjoe said she found no evidence such a policy was real. Earlier this month, she ruled the restaurant had racially profiled the students.

It says it will appeal
In a statement shared with CNN, Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant expressed deep concern over the situation and highlighted that management has since changed.
"There are a number of sensitivities and considerations about this situation, and for that reason, the tribunal outcome is under appeal by legal representatives.
"At this time we cannot comment further, beyond emphasizing that the current owner and staff are dedicated to be a committed, inclusive and responsible member of the community."
Wickham said he will continue to fight his case if needed.
