Some how.... The is more story to her deportation, ordinary weaves can't get her deported.
It wasn't the weaves, but the intention behind it..... She took too many and the officer believed she's coming to do business and not to school as that wasn't unusual with people coming in with student visa and never attend a class.....she could have claimed it was for her personal use and the worst that could have happened in that case was impounding those weaves and allowing her in.

I said she should have said for personal use using saving money as an excuse instead of saying for a friend when she already said she had no one over there, if you're going to lie about something make it a clean one, the "i don't have any friend then i want to give it to a friend" made them deport her and not because of how plenty the weaves were.

There's a limit to what you can bring in for personal use and she crossed that limit that's why she was flagged. Lots of people carry things for others and immigration officers know this.

Some foreign schools introduce new students to people from their country to help them settle down quickly so at the time she applied for a visa she might not have had a friend but that might have changed. Also with social media, all it takes to make a friend is a tweet.

The quantity she carried actually betrayed her.

PS: if there's no limit to what can be carried, then every importer would claim personal use for their goods and skip paying import duties.

Two things got her deported:

1. She lied about not having friends

2. Two boxes of weaves!!! She's not supposed to engage in doing business as a student, else she will be violating the terms of her student visa.

I get what you're saying, that was why she was asked why she had that many loads, the best was to have said for personal use when she knew that she already said in her documents that she had no one there, that statement of for a friend made them deport her and the ban is because she's already seen as a dishonest person who they believe has other motives than studying which she didn't state.

That's what I'm saying, they deported cause she lied and not because of the weaves, the weaves made them flag her assuming she gave a reasonable answer which to them doesn't sound like a lie, she wouldn't have been deported, highest she would be cautioned.

she should have been smart about it, like telling them its for personal use since she's new and would want to save money on weaves.
Ī
She thought she was smart about it... just like you think you are. She was deported because of lies...not weaves. ..the weaves brought out the lie... on application ...no friends...on arrival...you brought weaves for friends? ...no friends nor relatives.... but you have wayyy more weaves than clothes? ...why would they even believe she came to attend school? .... some of us really believe those Immigration officers were born yesterday.... and had no training. Oh well... she visited America. ... but I'm almost sure never walked on her soil nor breathe her natural air..... air conditioned air only.

My dear , I can see you have been trying very hard to justify your argument based on logic and common sense, you are actually doing smart.
But AZeD1 is right. When you carry as much weaves as can last you for the entire duration of your Masters, then there is more to it than meets the eye.
Immigration officials see a lot of things on a daily basis and those at the international borders are well trained in profiling and psychology. Smart lies wouldn't cut it, they know wosup, claiming its for personal use isn't
even half smart
Besides, its obvious she didn't read through the terms of her student visa, she has learnt a life lesson.
You also said something on your other reply: "highest she would be cautioned" made me really laugh hard. Sis, things don't work that way at Western borders. The US in particular are looking for the slightest means to deport anyone from a shithole so if you give them half a reason they would gladly take it if they are within the limits of their powers. There is nothing like caution for first time offenders, US immigration is as strict as it gets.

THE TRAGEDY OF ASSUMPTIONS

“A few days ago in the village, I went to an event, a house-warming ceremony.

When I entered the compound, I saw some village elders I knew sitting in one corner. I went up to them and started to greet them one after the other.

I shook their hands, even with the ones I didn't know until I got to one man. I didn't know him and when I extended my hand, he ignored it. After a few seconds, I withdrew the hand.

I felt very embarrassed and angry. Embarrassed for myself and angry at the man.

What was he feeling like, I thought. All those other men accepted my greeting, older men even. And to my knowledge, I hadn't done anything wrong. I gave him a very scornful look, greeted the remaining men and went to take a seat.

Now, even after I sat down, I was still pissed. I kept stealing glances at the man to see how he would react to other people.

Then I saw it...

He was blind!!!

His eyes were open, but he couldn't see at all! The other people who came to greet him had to touch him first, then take his hand if they wanted to shake hands with him.

Now my embarrassment level tripled. In addition to that, I felt stupid, very stupid. I was still angry, just angry at myself. I felt like that till I left the occasion.”

Assumption kills like poison. Any small thing, we assume...

Someone doesn't pick our calls, we assume he or she is avoiding us or is up to something...

Someone doesn't give us the money we asked for, we assume he or she is stingy and wicked...

Once we are turned or rejected, we start assuming...

We don't put into consideration what the other party might be going through.

The guy that promised you money might get into a financial situation a day before he's supposed to give you the money.

The person that didn't pick your call was probably in a meeting or too busy at that moment, or even sleeping. He might not be in the mood to take your call.

But we just assume instead...because it’s easier and it tends to make us the good guys...

Give someone benefit of the doubt.....make an excuse for that person......
It's not always as it seems.....

I think the big problem here is we nigerians. I went for a trip to some southern african countries two of the countries which I visited picked out all the nigerian women and searched their weaves on their heads. One of the countries he took his scissors and cut the hair off looking for drugs in 8 nigerian women. I asked some people and the people said they were told not to wear those things into the country because a lot of nigerian women push drugs in their waves. When I came back to nigeria I found out a lot of visa companies advise people go with natural hair not with weaves when travelling.

Tor!
People do not know that the border officer has all the embassy interview and application details at their fingertip. Visa is no guarantee.
