Bros try and be honest na.

There are certain people I have held discussions with on here for many years. I know the depth of their knowledge about Nigerian football. For such a person to say Siasia discovered Mikel, when he/she is aware that Mikel featured Under Eguavoen at the U17 WC and also probably know that Henry Nwosu was the U17 coach that was fired before Eguavoen was appointed. You should know it was a slip of the fingers to say Siasia discovered Mikel.

I just feel for Swansea sha. I don't want them relegated.

I would rather prefer Huddersfield to be relegated. But Huddersfield were in second position at a point in time in the league. They probably thought they had arrived.

Certitude:

Rohr still got nothing on Keshi. Let him get past the WC second round first, then we can label him 'death"

oga even if rohr dont make it out of the group he is miles ahead of keshi. keshi is the worst and biggest fraud that happened to nigerian football. during his stint with the team he nearly turned the team into a personal business and an avenue to market mediocre players to obscure leagues in europe. he didnt win the afcon because of his tactical acumen but out of luck and determination of the players who believed they can go all the way after eliminating the tournaments favorites CIV. rohr took the eagles job when all hope were lost, got talented and determined young players, brought the best from mikel by giving him the leadership role in the team and a sense of belonging and made the young team believe they can qualify from a group that had 4 afcon winners. gernot rohr is a blessing to nigerian football

i prefer swasea to be relegated because there is a certain highly rated young danish youth teamer of nigerian parentage in the name of philip billing anyanwu in huddlesfield who is rumored to be on the verge of changing allegiance to the super eagles after the worldcup. as i wont want balogun to be in the championship if he eventually signs for huddlesfield as rumored

Mikel is a good player but at his age are you seriously saying that he's our best? I'm not here to argue I'm just worried that Nigeria will flop hard if the other players don't produce some majick

Mikel is past his best surely. We can't and shouldn't depend on him alone. Argentina and Portugal are not Nigeria. What I mean is that they at least have players who play regular football for good clubs. Our boys do not. This is not the 94 team were we had players who had flare. This team did excellently in the qualifiers and I thought that Mikel with his penchant to hold on tho the ball in midfield was hindering the team. Were he excelled was when he was in attack. There he is extremely dangerous.

I'm concerned that's all I'm not critiquing or shilling I just ....... Want to turn up to Nigeria v England on June 2nd and see Nigeria become the first African team to whoop England. I don't want to be embarrassed

Surely you understand

safarigirl:
oh?

Argentina should also see doom ahead, nobody on the team is better than Messi

Same goes for Portugal. Who is better than CR7 there?

Egypt should also be terrified, Salah is their best player

How good were we when the likes of Yakubu and Enyeama were our best players? Is Mikel so woeful that he cannot be our best player?

On what ground should we be doomed if Mikel is our best player? Has he done anything to signify that he cannot hold the mantle when necessary?

I want to understand why we should be doomed if Mikel is our best as opposed to Moses? What does Moses bring that others cannot as compared to what Mikel brings?

Please go and watch Victor under Rohr he is always tracking back and doing defensive duties. So wingback is no difference. He can bomb forward and one of our midfielders can slide in and cover for him.
What do you mean he can bomb forward. Don't you know that a wingback is basically saddled with two responsibilities at once- both defending and attacking? Such player will only have a minimum chance to "bomb" forward? A Victor Moses that is supposed to lead our attack at full stretch... haba...

i disagree that mikel have past his best. he still have alot to offer the team which was evident during the qualifiers and against argentina. his wealth of experience helps this young team alot. for me i dont tip him as the teams best player but the fulcrum of the team. victor moses and alex iwobi are the teams best who can produce magic in russia.

Henry Nwosu picked an unknown Mikel from the Plateau United feeder team. That is the discovery we are talking about.

All those goalies you mentioned there were already regulars in the NPL. Aiyenugba was a deputy to Enyeama at Enyimba. Ejide was the number 1 goalkeeper at Gabros international where he had won almost 100 caps before being invited to the Super Eagles camp in 2002.

On Osaze, he was already in the Belgian league before Onigbinde gave him an invite to the Super Eagles camp prio to 2002 WC. That is not discovery.Hahaha.

On loan Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa could be on his way back to the English Premier League with Brighton and Hove Albion interested in his services.

Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that Brighton have been tracking him for some time, and they were even close to signing him on loan from Leicester City in January before he decided on a return to CSKA Moscow.

At CSKA Moscow, the 25 year old has regained the form that made Leicester splash 16 million euros on him with 5 league goals to his name from just nine games, while in the domestic cup he has a goal to his name, same as in the Europa League where he played six games.

Brighton have been impressed with his performance and they are hoping to thrash out a deal that could see him return to the Premier League at the end of his loan deal with the Russian side.

Musa is among the few players who are almost certain to make the squad of Nigeria for the World Cup in Russia later this year, and it could delay a decision on his future.

Rohr: With discipline we can succeed
Sports By: Emmanuel Okogba
Monday, May 7, 2018

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr listed that he doesn't have star players who can turn a game on its head, but with team and tactical discipline, the Eagles can make a head way at the FIFA World Cup tournament starting next month.

Rohr who has played three top notched friendlies with Argentina, Poland and Serbia said those matches have helped a lot in improving the team. ''In the team we are working on improving all segments of the game, only if you have everything you need, you can succeed in today's football.

''I said already, today I do not have a lot of stars, but we want to have a big team with a winning mentality, great discipline in the field and beyond, and a great deal of mutual solidarity and communion. This is the way to success.'' The Super Eagles came from two goals down to beat Argentina 4-2 in Krasnodar last November before a hard-fought 1-0 win over Poland followed by a 2-0 loss to Serbia in London in March.

''Friendlies are completely different from the matches at the mundial. Friendly games are like an experiment in the lab, while matches in the World Cup are realistic, real life,'' Rohr explained to Sportske Novosti.

''I do not bother too much of the victories and defeats in the preparatory games, we are focused on building the best teams for the World Cup.'

Actually, I wasn't talking about their positions, I was talking about their natural abilities. Hence, I used the word "naturally".
If you watch the Argentina friendly, you'll realize that Ebuehi overlaps much more than Shehu and also have the ability to track back effortlessly. As a matter of fact, that's the area where I rated him much more than Shehu.

Bro you act like Victor Moses sleeps in the opponent's box, he will have to do some defensive work regardless. Just like Marcelo and Alvez bomb forward and their teammates cover for them Moses can do the same.

Tyronne Ebuehi has been shortlisted for the best right-back in the Eredivisie following the conclusion of the regular season.

Voetbal Primeur has started working on its Team of the Season, made up of the eleven outstanding players in each position, and nominated the Nigeria international, Santiago Arias (PSV), Denzel Dumfries (SC Heerenveen), Kingsley Ehizibue (PEC Zwolle) and Jonas Svensson (AZ) for the right-back role.

Explaining why Ebuehi was nominated, the Dutch website wrote : ''The Portuguese top club Benfica courted him emphatically. Logical too, because the right back played an excellent first half of the season.

''An invitation from the Nigerian national coach for the World Cup would be the icing on the cake for Ebuehi.''

Ebuehi claimed the right-back spot for his own at ADO Den Haag this season, making 28 starts in the Eredivisie until he suffered a groin injury which has kept him on the sidelines since April 14.

The Haarlem native is battling Abdullahi Shehu, Ola Aina and Brian Idowu to become Nigeria's first choice right back for the 2018 World Cup.

When you gift your midfield away you will lose control of the game, starve your forwards of balls, plus your defense will come under serious threat and will capitulate. Na white washing be that.

The best approach is still to choke up the midfield, and try to shield your defense while also capitalizing on breaks to hit them on the counter.
I think realpoacher made a lot of sense. His proposal is counterintuitive but I think it's better than try to choke the midfield as you suggest.
