You would say, besides even if Nigeria divulges it's full compliment of military defense system and opaque defense procurement process GFP will not accord her it's rightful place on the list. The publication is the same tool of western bias. Military professionals know better.

If 4 billion/24= 166 million dollars each.

You are a hopeless liar.

Algeria have over 42+ MI28.

Iraq have 17 in service and 19 still on order.

MI 28 might be better than MI35M but price is not the determining factor.
Acquring a Mi-28 would have been more costly for Nigeria than getting Mi-35Ms.

Guys at GFP often buy low-grade weed and they suffer the after effects years later.

South Africa increased ratings, we didn't buy anything recently. Then there's the case of Ethiopia being omoung the top list, God knows why they're there - their soldiers literary wear flip-flops for operations, no money for boots... As for the DRC being above Tanzania and Uganda, you see what weed does?

South Africa don't need new stuff to be in that spot. It was stated clearly that defence industry add to ranking and having 4 guided missile frigates with submarines rank higher than having 100 patrol boats, equiptments still on order won't add to ranking, etc.

The only thing good with Ethiopian military is the army and nothing else not even their defence budget.

Yes, their listing is retarded. Just like anyone who makes claims of "being the best" (like you)

global fire power 2018 new ranking out with many changes.

https://www.globalfirepower.com/countries-listing-africa.asp

Our Budget gets cut year by year, we've received no new major equipment since last year...........yet we climbed like 10 places on the list? Got to love the geniuses of Global Fire Power.

That said i do think the Rankings of African countries is a bit more accurate(Still ret@eded though from Nr6 down)

Dont think he was talking about our Ranking in Africa(Which IMO is accurate) but how did we jump from 42nd to 33rd in the world? above countries like the Netherlands who have 60 F16, 2 F35(35 on order) 28 Apache , 6 Frigates, 4 OPVs, 2 LPDs , 4 Subs.

The only place they lack behind is their smallish army.

There is nothing accurate about that Africa ranking. South-Africa is no where above Nigeria. I'm being realistic.

The Ranking from 1 - 4 should be;
Egypt
Algeria
Nigeria
South-Africa.

The parameters used in making the listings by GFP is flawed. Adding defense industry as a matrix moves the club to an exclusive list which makes the presence of combat capable states without adequate defense industry irrelevant on the list. If defense industry is one measuring line to sprint on the ranking then all elements of national power indicated therein that can be called up or utilized in times of war should be criteria to move up on the rankings as most countries with advanced defense industries have no commensurate combat capable army on the ground to match their industrial output except perhaps on paper i.e Germany, South Africa etcetera.

About the 4 frigates and submarines to 100 patrol boats that's a misguided perception. Even fast attack crafts can be a nuisance to missile destroyers and sea mines are deterrence to submarines. In an emergency those 100 patrol boats can be quickly fitted with missiles translating maritime cost effectiveness to advantage at sea in a war.

So you see not all that glitters is gold especially when it comes to military hardware.

The Ethiopian military is only a matter of perception as they have proven themselves over the years in fighting however rag-tag they appear. Same perception goes for Chad.

And even more accurately since military forces are instruments of state policy and power the rankings should 'rightly' be split into it's apparent geo-political sphere of influence:

Middle East & North Africa: 1. Israel 2. Egypt
Sub-Saharan Africa: 1. Nigeria 2. South Africa

Yet in the same emergency an advanced defence industry would be even more of an advantage since said country can build better and more advanced weapons than making due with small boats.

History tells us differently. Your idea proved impossible in wartime Germany. Countries with more depth in population and human creativity mixed with material resources even if marginal at the time of hostilities in industrial output eventually wins the day as they can quickly muster armament production on a large scale. i.e America vs Japan in the Second World War. The entrance of the Americans into WW11 completely tilted the war in the favor of the allies. Despite all the wonder weapons thrown into the fray by Germany the Red Army prevailed against the German Wehrmacht and the SS divisions of Hitlers Third Reich.

Dudes, arguing about the rankings is beyond childish.

Anyone whom has even done the most basic bit of statistics would tell you that developing an effective model to rank something as infinity complex as a military is something that, if done, would win you a Nobel prize.

Apart from minutae, like training and moral - which are impossible to quantify. You also have comparisons of doctrine, again impossible to quantify. Or the effects of different individual pieces of equipment - i.e squad radio X v squad radio Y. There are millions of pieces of equipment that would need to be quantified and modeled. Then there are human dynamics - average IQ, literacy rates, education levels, calorific intakes etc etc etc etc etc. Then there are scenarios - most powerful how? where? when?

I also notice, that its only two individuals (no doubt with very high self-esteems*) that are obsessed with their nations rankings in relation to anothers. Grow up.

Dont be quick to polarize it. Its quite a simple affair. Claims & counterclaims, some genuine some of vain mischief.
Its rather unfortunate its in a PICTURES &VIDEOS ONLY thread!!!

Doesn't change the fact it's cheaper to have fantasies as in your personal opinion. However personal opinions does not equate factual realities. Apparently lionel schooled you.

Therefore, maybe you check the size and ferocity of combat engagements, military diplomacy and interventions both militaries had the last 5 years to date and tell us..?

Breaking: Nigeria's Senate declares IGP Kpotun Idris enemy of democracy and unfit to hold public office anywhere home and abroad for repeatedly refusing it's summons.

My take: This current IGP is the most irresponsible and uncivilized police officer to wear that uniform. The CDS under the authority of the President should ensure his immediate arrest.
