You guys talk of light, in my state we don't ever see light, the Afikpochic that represents my constituency in the house of Assembly won my uncle because she gave Nepa 1 million to fix the light for a period of time and publicize it. That's the major reason I don't stay there for long anytime I visit, you can stay. Month with seeing light. RedDistrict: 2 Likes |

RedDistrict:he actually fixed few roads but if u see the roads ehn, that's a project local government should be handling. Very short distance roads with big sign board saying okowa is working. A state where we av allocation as one of the highest in the country? And internationally generated revenue is almost as equal as the likes of akwa ibom? I am disappointed really. God pls send us a good leader in this state 1 Like 1 Share |

Alezy: The problem is not really the State Government of Governor.... It's the "mentality" of the state that's the problem. Delta people are not ambitious, that's the truth. The only thing that most Delta common people want is what they'll dear today, drink tomorrow and eat next tomorrow, finish. Another problem is brain drain. Deltans who have the money are not investing in Delta, they'll build small thing here and go Lagos to build big properties. Senator Nwaoboshi bought N850m house in Lagos, can he spend that amount in Delta? It's only in Delta you'll see a whole Street without modern building but people from that street have big fine houses in Lagos and Abuja. My village gets full with lots of building project activities during festive periods, but after that, everybody this back to Lagos, Abuja, porthacourt... A once bubbling town turns to empty town. Another issue is the country's currency is just worthless. All those billions your hearing can't even construct proper drainage in some swampy areas. If you have 25bn, after paying salaries with 15bn, 10bn can't really do much mega projects as you expect. If naira were, say N150 - $1 ... Fine, otherwise, with the present inflation rates, naira is just rubbish. 2 Likes 1 Share |

To know the worst, one must consider the promises the governors made while campaigning and how they have fared so far. From careful observation, I'll say Fayose Yahaya hello Richard okorocha Okowa Obaseki Dickson of bayelsa state Though kogi and ekiti state may not have much in terms of resources, but the little at their disposal has been totally misused Off topic...why can't the federal government do something about ajaokuta steel as well as delta steel company. If funds are pumped into these companies, and properly managed by experts, it would bring forth massive employment and would be of most importance to kogi and delta state. Instead our politicians are now siphoning money for their personal use while others who are returning to seat are diverting the funds for election purpose. I weep for my country |

oweniwe:you actually have a point but ur last point not totally valid cos same exchange rate is what over states use yet they still show some workings. I agree ppl in this state invest in other state yes that's true but its a state that gives u conducive environment for investment that u invest in. Take for instance, I saw a post from alibaba where he said he wanted to fix a bad spot of a road in warri and the area guys said he should pay first. Just imagine that mentally. This is what the government turned em into buy using them for dirty election jobs and abounding them there after. There is a tiny street just opposite the osubi airport here in warri. They awarded the construction of that very little street of about one and half kilometers and wrote on a very big sign board ( OKOWA IS WORKING) yet these are little contracts local government should be handling. No creative thinking at all |

drtwist: What you're talking about are community teachers. It's the local governments that recruit community teachers from various villages to meet bridge gap in Teachers shortfall. It's the local governments that pay those teachers, not the state government. What a local government gets is determined at the federal level, not state level. Below is for your perusal Aide to Delta State Governor On Special Duties (Media), Mr Ossai Ovie Success has put an end to claims that the state government led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was to be blamed for councils’ indebtedness to it’s workers. According to the Governor’s Aide “For long now, the general public have been fed with false information regarding the payment of Council salaries. “Let the truth be told, the state government is not owing Council Salaries. It is very unfortunate that some persons are not telling the truth rather going about deceiving the general public. In a society like ours, only the truth can set a man free. “Local Government Staff are not supposed to be paid by the state government, the state government since Gov. Okowa assumed office as the Executive Governor has been assisting the local government councils in the state regarding the payment of the council workers. “Recently I was at the meeting between the State Governor and the State Chapter of the Trade Union Congress where Gov. Okowa passionately explained the true situation to them. According to Gov. Okowa “When the allocation coming to local government councils was moved from 10percent to a little over 20.6percent, the primary school teachers moved to the local government councils and the state allocation which was over 30percent was then reduced to 20percent; the state never stopped assisting when there is money to offer an assistance to the councils. From the above statement by Gov Okowa, it is clear that the state government from the little allocation have been assisting the Councils in making sure that salaries are been paid. In 2015, Governor Okowa released a grant of N3.26bn from the bailout funds to the Councils to pay part of the salaries of teachers and Local government employees. “The fact that the council workers are been owed salaries does not mean the State government should be held responsible . According to Gov Okowa recently “Salaries owed local government workers is attributed to their unique salary structure, large number of staff and reduction in the allocation coming to local government councils. “It is only in Delta State that some local government councils have the same salary structure with the state and federal government. “Staff of the third tier of government are suffering in the state as a result of salary arrears and apart from the salary structure, some local government councils have more than 700 persons as their staff strength. https://www .vanguardngr .com/2017/05/okowa-not-owing-council-salaries-says-ossai/ |

drtwist: Not really. 1. I used to live at okpanam before. You know the road from house of assembly up winners church in okpanam was very bad during Uduaghan time... Uduaghan totally ignored those areas. Buy go there now, the drive is smooth, though work is still ongoing. 2. Kwale-ogume-obiaruku road was complete mess and unmotorable during Uduaghan time, it's now very smooth without a single pot hole. 3. Abbi - Ezionum road has been bad since i was a kid. They said it was babangida that built the road... A journey that ought to take 15 minutes, you send 1 hour... Today, the road is smooth. 4. The first internal road in my community was build by Okowa. Many people have lived and died without seeing tarred road in the village. Though it doesn't mean anything really, but to the old people in the village, it means a lot to them. If these mean I'm benefiting from Okowa, well, hmmm 1 Like |

RedDistrict: Why are you complaining? It's turn by turn nah When Ibori and Uduaghan were busy concentrating all the mega projects in Warri and Delta south/central areas we didn't complain nah. Well, please forgive my ethnic or sectional sarcasm.. The truth is, it was the cities that used to get the bulk of government projects under the previous administrations , neglecting the rural areas. If Okowa wants to build 1,000 village roads, i don't have any problem with it. Those people have been neglected for a long time, let them enjoy for once. Depending on how you see it, 500m road project per community multiplied by 20 communities , ... Is better that one 10bn mega project in the city. The cities have been enjoying the projects before, let the villages enjoy their own 1 Like 1 Share |
