With the above kind of mentality and ignorance, he wasn't just asking a question, he was spewing the usual hateful, bigoted and tribal nonsense.

Bros first visit the Oone port in Rivers state and come back here to tell me if it is functioning or not. And if you don't have money for transport kindly place your account details here I will gallantly support you to & fro. You people just talk like parrots without even confirming your claims.

He didn't just ask a question. He spoke in a manner as to ridicule the government.

Who says there can't be 5 seaports or more in one state if the environment is most enabling and stable?

The guy is the 'I Too Know' type, so let him tell us how seaports are built.

Your Hero was in power for 6yrs. He could have built Calabar/ Rivers Abakaliki and also upper Weka Sea ports for both the Ss and SE but what did he do, he was more concerned how stealing couldn't be defined as corruption.

Sincerely speaking, I hate how Lagos is coveting all these development when every regions supposed to enjoy d dividend of good governance.

It'll only make Lagos an urban sprawl if economic prowess is vested in Lagos alone cos more n more people will continue to migrate to Lagos en-masse.

A sensible federal govt supposed to encourage economic activities in every region.

Nigeria: Ibaka Deep Seaport Not in National Projects Plan - Investigation

Despite the yearly allocation of several billions of naira for the construction of a proposed greenfield deep seaport at Ibaka in Akwa Ibom State by both the State Government and the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) since 2011, the project has remained elusive, with no evidence of a port being built at the proposed site.

The project is missing in the National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan and in the list of similar projects planned in partnership between the federal government and state government, with expectations of private investors collaborations, investigations by LEADERSHIP have revealed.

The Ibaka Deep Seaport, a project for which the federal ministry of transport, the NPA and the Akwa Ibom State Government have held several workshops and taken commendations at several events is also missing in a maritime and air transport report prepared by Steer Davies Gleave for the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA) hosted by

The African Development Bank.

The study, which was carried out to assess the potential for enhanced private participation in the maritime and air transport sectors in Africa however identified the Lekki Deep Seaport measuring 970m of container berths, 320m dry bulk berth, 1-2 oil berths and located 60km east of Lagos.

The Badagry greefield port, Koko Port and Olokola Port were also listed with their capacity and promoters.

The water at Ibaka is said to have a natural draft of 11 metres, without dredging, making it a huge potential for possible deep seaport construction.

Akwa Ibom State has continued to budget for the port, which Governor Godswill Akpabio said would create employment for 100,000 Nigerians.

The NPA had also told LEADERSHIP in Uyo at the PCC meeting that the deep seaport would be completed in 2015.

When LEADERSHIP visited the proposed site of the deep seaport at Ibaka, there was nothing to show that a seaport was being planned at coastal community.

A lonely dilapidated narrow road, better described as a colonial road leads to Ibaka, from Oron. As early as 2011, the Akwa Ibom State Governor told a Nigeria Ports Consultative Council (PCC) meeting in Uyo that his government had concluded plans to dualise the road.

http://allafrica.com/stories/201312160580.html

Akpabio budgeted billions for Ibaka deep seaport every year with not even bush clearing or fence erected.

Meaning Akpabio pocketed billions every year.

Stop blaming Lagos state for doing what other states and their crooked, corrupt and lazy governors refused to do

The govt should also develop warri port, calabar port, onitcha port and port at Rivers state to accelerate development in this places.I think it will reduce the traffic gridlock in Lagos and also create employment opportunities in this places.

That's what you are daily being fed from Radio Biafra. Hatred, hatred every day of your life. The project is a Lagos state funded project. Invariably every state can have a sea port in his state just like during the tenure of Akpabio where he budgeted Billion of naira for similar project in Akwa Ibom but he never executed such project. Hold your various leaders responsible for their failure except you are expecting Lagos state government to come and build sea port in your state. They comment without having the knowledge of happenings around them.

Lagos is headed for total chaos in the future if it does not plan adequate accessibility to and from this port. They need more roads (and rail of course ) than they are planning, but they don't know yet or have a clue.

Stop playing politics with everything. This is a Lagos state funded project. Akpabio had billion of naira for Ibaga sea port while he was also a governor yrs ago. He looted the money. Hold your leaders responsible. Hold those governors who will blame FG despite their monthly allocations plus 13% derivation responsible.

The Port at Lekki is the new seaport of Lekki in Lagos State, Nigeria with construction to commence in 2015 and be completed by 2018. It will then be the largest seaport of Nigeria. When in service, the Port at Lekki will be able to handle around 6 million TEUs of containers, together with a significant volume of liquid and dry bulk cargoes.

The port is planned to be developed in phases to meet the growing demand. In phase one, which is expected to be operational by 2018, the port will have three container berths equipped to handle more than 1.8 million TEUs, one berth for dry bulk and two berths for liquid cargo.

The port is financed by private investors and a consortium of banks who have funded the project with $1.5 billion so far.

See how ignorant Igbos are disgracing themselves on this thread.

The Lekki FTZ is a Lagos State project, nothing concerns the FG. It is utmost foolishness to be crying marginalisation on this thread when Igbo Governors are using cement to construct roads in the East.

Any smart Igbo man would invest in Ibeju-Lekki now and not follow the herd mentality of crying marginalisation.
