so confusing and stressful

First off west world is a spin off of a 70s or 80s movie starring yul brynner the guy who acted as the king in the original the king and I. Its based on a an artificial world where humans interact with robots who then go haywire.

That's the premise of the show. The automatons don't know they aren't real and are programmed to play a specific role I.e the love-vendor the cow boy and all that. Except that they are aware of self ( as programmed) and self preservation kicks in based on imprinted knowledge.

I actually enjoyed the show then but I have a lot o my plate now hence I am waiting for a time when I would just binge on it.

There is no doubt that Westworld is an extremely complex show and there actually were few calls last year for show runners to streamline some storylines. Besides there are some YouTube channels dedicated to picking shows like Westworld apart piece by piece, you could even google it and get the background info on the characters so you understand where they're coming from and what is going on.

But just to give you a general overview;
Its a recreational park filled with Androids called hosts and humans known as guests pay to get into the park.
Now, you must know that each host has a specific narrative which is programmed into it but is subject to sublime changes as they interact with guests. Now, as a guest who just got into the park, you have the option of choosing your narrative and your every interaction with the host will play out that narrative. The perks being the facts that as a guest you can't be killed, and your actions no matter how vile have no consequences.
Of course, the show also handles major themes simultaneously such as the hosts becoming self aware, there being a greater plan for the park than just catering to guests pleasure and everything in between.
And sometimes there is no distinction between happenings in the past and present, this is because unlike humans, the hosts don't age. One thing that helped me understand that distinction was the knowledge that the sadistic man in black is William (the young first timer in season one)

All in all, it is not a show for everyone. If you don't get it, you're probably not into this sort of genre.

Thanks I'm getting it now. HBO go is overcharging but they are now worth it. Think they are there with Netflix and Hulu and CBS all access..

It's weird that people would actually find Westworld confusing. I've watch mindf**k shows and movies and believe me, Westworld isn't one of them.

The show is engineered to make you think constructively, because mystery is clearly a key part. Perspectives and memory obscuring truth are themes, and themes rely on the twist. Don't get what I'm trying to say? Okay, let's put it this way: The show's a deep mystery, heavily steeped in CLUES - the clues are there to help you figure things out. There has been plenty of subtle moments where they did their best to hide one hand while revealing the other, moments that didn't mean much on their own, but when put together, paints a clear picture.

Keep watching the show. You're supposed to have questions, the show will answer them.
