Eye service.

Have the doctors not been treating other patients?

And when doctors go on strike, don't JOHESU attend to other patients?

So why is this news?

Just imagine if doctors were on strike and Johesu members were working, and the same doctors had an accident and are rushed into A&E. What exactly can JOHESU members do to save the doctors without the input of other doctors? Which management plan can they institute on their own? If there are 1000 Johesu members and a doctor with a ruptured spleen is rushed in, can Johesu save him?

Our attention has been drawn to news making the round that UBTH JOHESU EXCO members were involved in a road traffic accident today 19.05.2018 on their way to Auchi in Edo state.

While there was indeed a road traffic accident:
** the victims are neither UBTH JOHESU EXCO

We understand the desperation of the sponsors of this false news to always seek ways to score cheap points but we are saddened by the fact that they could descend so low as seeing the pain and anguish of the accident victims as something to be celebrated to the extent of uploading the pictures of this NIGERIANS IN PAIN to the whole world.

I want to state here again that this news is not correct as no UBTH JOHESU MEMBERS were involved in any kind of accident today and we shall by the GRACE OF GOD NOT BE INVOLVED IN ANY.

We want to advise ARD/NMA members to always check their facts and avoid rushing into conclusions so as not to continue spreading falsehoods to the general public.

They could have asked questions and get correct answers before painting the social media red with this lies.

I advice the NMA to avoid wishing JOHESU MEMBERS evil as evidenced by the way they celebrated this falsehood on the social media.

WE WISH THE VICTIMS OF THIS R.T.A A VERY QUICK RECOVERY.

CeoNewshelm:
At least 19 members of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) sustained injuries in an accident along the Benin-Auchi Road on Saturday.

The workers are said to be staff of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) chapter of the union.

According to Channels, 40 of the health workers were on their way to a function in Auchi when the accident occurred.

The injured victims were subsequently rushed to the Otibho Okhai Hospital in Irrua, Edo state, where they were being treated by doctors and consultants on duty.

Esteem Tagar, president of the association of resident doctors at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, who confirmed the incident, said no life was lost in the accident. The union has been on strike since April 17.

Part of the health workers’ demands include upward review of their salaries to be at same level with the doctors, a request both the federal government and the doctors kicked against.

Others are improved facilities, employment of additional health professionals, implementation of court judgments, upward review of retirement age from 60 to 65 years, and harmonisation of salaries of all healthcare workers in the country.

The National Industrial Court in Abuja, on Thursday, ordered the health workers to resume work within 24 hours but JOHESU asked its members to continue with the strike.

The union has “relaxed” its strike in Lagos, Kano, Yobe and Niger states, but called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Isaac Adewole, minister of health, for allegedly taking sides with doctors in the ongoing strike.

Health workers are not supposed to go on strike except there's is a threat to life while on duty or there's no work place safety. Paramedics are very useful in health care delivery but cannot function without medical doctors who're in-charge of the health team. The doctors should be commended for attending to the striking JOHESU members who are on strike for frivolous reasons. No matter how big a domestic cat is, it cannot be called a lion.

These JOHESU members should know they are not at par with doctors. The government should fire them if they don't resume and recruit new staff. Do they know how much rattawu members earn. Make dem go sit down. Fire them all and recruit new staff. Let there be harmonization of salaries in the civil service. Microbiologist no better pass Engineer

Whether you are a civil servants, private sector worker, unemployed or job seekers, newly employed youths or undergraduate, you can do alot as with poultry and livestock production as we advance into the festive period. 1000 prayer points and amen, imam and pastor prayers can not save anybody even if your Imam or pastor spit anointing and fire raw from his mouth. No amount of fetish or ritual can save anybody financialy.

No amount is too small for business, with 7k, 10k, 20k, 30k, 60k, and 150k and 700k, you can do alot with poultry, broilers and turkey production business, to include fishery, piggery, etc. for your livestock stocking and practical orientation or lectures, call 09099176956

If they increase that of johesu, they have to do same for doctors. That difference must be respected.
Doctors r not nurses or pharmacists and vice versa.
The knowledge and expertise are also different.

The JEHSUS people are not doctors. They are on strike, because they want to be paid like doctors while doing non-doctor jobs. The medical doctors treating them are no the ones on strike.
Just a little clarification, I know English language is difficult.

Everything boils down to pay in Nigeria. Why don't you look at it from a market force point of view.
Why speak of doctor's pay when you don't have anything close his education, skills, and job coverage. The only thing you guys in JEHSUS see is doctor's pay, not his longer education, his 24-in hospital calls, his responsibility to treat and manage the whole patient. That's why it will be good to privatize everything in Nigeria, and you'd see how the false claims are exposed one by one.

The post shows that doctors treated them, and doing so under the current industrial action by other health workers, not only shows their humanitarian character, but shows their total dedication to their profession. Of course they will be paid, so will the striking health workers (JOHESU) receive salaries for these months they're out of duty.
Surprisingly, the doctors on duty will do their work, and also do that of JOHESU staff who are on strike and receiving payments. Simply put, the doctors will multitask to see the hospital running and their salaries will still be same. This commitment have saved some lives, including those of the striking health workers and these ones involved in an accident.
