I am just wondering why some of the courses advertised by PTDF on their portal are not available on the list of courses offered by the said universities. I advise all applicants to confirm the availability of the courses they selected on their universities of choice's website. Knowing this will equip you on any abnormality that may arise.

My interview was really quick and swift. I am even not happy that the panelist didn't ask me much questions to prove my worth. However, we are hopeful the end result will be successful.

The main thing is the list of successful candidates. They can send you as many mails as possible for communication. But don't celebrate yet until you see your name on the final list of successful candidates. It will be published.

MSC APPLICANT FOR PETROLEUM GEOSCIENCES FOR RESERVOIR DEVELOPMENT & PRODUCTION
SCHEDULED TIME:2:00PM
This write up is based on my personal experience during the interview.
Statement of Purpose(S.O.P) Was collected from time to time as applicants arrived the centre.
Applicants were told to submit three copies of the SOP's and to present their letter of invitation as well as application slip and to properly arrange original credentials used for the application process.
SOP'S were sorted based on field of study and applicants were ushered into different interview rooms.
I was asked if i had any Publication?
Secondly,if i had any award?
thirdly why i wanted an Msc?
fourthly,what i have offered interms of service to the nation
Lastly,where do i see myself in the next 10 years?
As i said this is just based on my personal experience.

Every thing is same as France/China/Germany except this time it's UK. Just be patient. I know we are all itching for some thing new. Just Chillax

But how on earth can a PhD proposal be one page. Meanwhile you shouldnt give up that easily.

Your presentation is good. We see you have the capacity. Although we are not Petroleum Engineers like yourself, we would have expected you don't print a one page proposal for us. You came unprepared.

This was the last thing I heard from my interviewer.

I feel so bad but well, next year will be better.

PTDF has concluded the overseas interview, candidates who were shortlisted in all categories have four chances; France, China, Germany and the UK. Whether you have received email or not from PTDF, u all still have equal chances to be selected.

The first category; France/China/Germany results are ready.But to avoid one candidate winning both categories, the names have not been published yet. All things being equal, winners in all countries will be published probably around June after the UK selection process which is currently being scrutinized.

This year will have the highest ever number of Oversea Scholarship winners thanks to the Strategic Partners who are offering a tuition-free scholarship. [/b]Selection is based on the quota system which is the government constitution. Hence, you are competing with the candidate from your states and not the general populace. [b]So don't play the tribal card if u are not selected as tribalism as nothing to do with it. Your slot can only be awarded to your fellow state kinsmen. In addition, more slots of winners are given to Nigeria oil-producing states which is understandable.

For all winners in all categories, you will be required to sign a bond which signifies that you must come back to Nigeria after your studies. But PTDF might allow you to stay for a fixed period for work experience in your field after their approval as before work visa is granted, ur sponsor will be contacted. Overall, u will need to plan well and focus on your study and life after studies. U are also allowed to defer your scholarship within one year hence if working u can apply for ''study leave without pay'' for your job to be secured when u come back. For those who are not working yet, the degree will give u more opportunity for job not only in Nigeria but any where in the world. It will give u more chance of scholarship for the advancement of studies or for migration purpose if you don't get jobs when u come back as jobs are hard to come by.

You might be tempted when u are abroad to do abnormal things to feel among. But remember Nigeria especially your family or friends who are struggling. Better to help Nigerians rather than outsiders. Also, save money, so u can plan well and be in control in whatever choice when u come back to Nigeria for the advancement of your career. Congrats in advance to the overseas winners which will definitely be among nairalanders here as it is always. For those who wish to study in Nigeria (have applied for admission) or are currently studying in Nigeria, PTDF did not forget you. Local application will be out in June.

Don't worry. I am already preparing for next year. I just didn't come prepared this time. It's my fault. Perhaps I applied without much interest. I actually need a Job not PHD but maybe just maybe next year will be better

During documentation stage immediately the awardees have been shortlisted. Sometime in July.

On my side for PhD, the total grade point on my transcript was recorded for me during the interview. So, at the least PTDF can vouch for you that you have your transcript. But it's best you have a student copy asap if you don't have one. The usual thing (even without a scholarship) is that you use student copy for application pending when you get the admission. The School copy can be sent and received while you are into your studies already.

During the documentation stage you would be required to submit all your originals including institution transcripts. Note that if you don't meet the documentation requirements, you won't be given the scholarship. You are not a scholar until after induction.

Please any body with an idea that of how the PTDF overseas scholarship is administered should tell us. Will there be take off grant to be given while still in Nigeria? How much do they pay as monthly stipends? Any study materials allowance? Any study related travel allowance, warm clothing allowance et al?
