My Story...Long Post!

I heard about Express Entry in 2016 and initially thought it was a difficult thing to venture into. A colleague of mine from work showed me it was possible in March 2017. He introduced me to this thread, it was Part 1 then and he urged me to read the 800+ pages as he had done. smiley. My initial fear was IELTS, I see English Language as a difficult language...lol. When an international body assess your knowledge of English you will know that it's not this our moin-moin English. IELTS did not fall my hand. I knew I had to relearn a lot of things.

I started my ECA in July 2017 with IQAS, I did not have time for WES verification wahala. UI was fast with the processing and my contact person was just too nice. I got my ECA report in October 2017.

I braced up for IELTS when i booked the Oct 14th test. I registered late and had between Benin and Enugu test centres to choose from. I went with Benin, i could not write the test on another day because i had taken a 5-day leave from work and hubby was going to be available to write on that date. So we travelled to Benin from Ijebu ode with our 8 month old baby, booked a hotel and wrote the test in Protea hotel. I was very optimistic that i would smash it, hubby was not sure of his speaking and listening. The results came out I was greatly disappointed.

My score - LRSW - 7.5, 9, 7.5, 7.5
Hubby's - LRSW - 6.5, 8.5, 7, 7.5

After crying i booked for the next available date, Nov 11th in Abeokuta. I knew i had to find time to write that test as i run shifts and had exhausted my leave. Luckily for me, my speaking date was on Friday and LWR on Saturday. I was supposed to be on Night duty on Thursday and Friday. I practically did not sleep for 48 hours straight because i did a 1 hour trip to abeokuta straight from work twice for the two tests. I had my personal effects - toothbrush, soap, clothes, etc in my bag, it was exhausting. I was almost late for the LRW, there were just about closing the doors when i scurried in. After the test, i was not very optimistic. I was busy counting how many answers i was not so sure of and they were up to 7 embarassed. I had to use a knowledge of what i understood from the recording to answer the multiple choice questions (guess work). I came back really sad.

My result - LRSW - 8.5, 8.5, 7, 7. I thanked my God and jumped into the pool at 436 on the 1st of Dec.

I was waiting for hubby's ECA to place us at 444 and my 3 years work experience in Feb 2018 to place us at 472. Alas, on the 1st of Jan, i logged on and saw our CRS score at 469 shocked. I raised alarm o because ITA was knocking on my door and GS advised me not to submit my application even if i get ITA until my 3 years work experience fully matures...Bless her.

ITA came on the 10th of Jan then the struggle began.

POF: we did not want to use gift deed until we exhaust all our options, we were just gathering our money small small we had the complete money on the 1st of March (our salary and savings). I got my friend who is also my account officer to help me get the letter in CIC format. She said it would take 2 days as it would have to go through their legal department because it was not the norm. I said okay and gave her a draft of what i wanted. I combined the sample i think Newmum posted and one i got from canadavisa forum. The letter came through, i did not read it to see that they put the wrong account balance in one of the months, thank God hubby pointed it out and it was corrected.

Reference letter: I had obtained one reference letter in July 2017 from my HR friend at that time and i was prepared to use it. But a debate ensued on this thread about the validity of work reference letters especially a current job. I searched on YouTube and found out from an immigration lawyer that it is only proper to submit a work reference letter that is not later than 3 months after ITA if it is a current employment. I knew i was in for it because my HR friend had been transferred and a new HR was there. I still met him and showed him the old letter that all i needed was the current date and his signature and stamp. To my surprise, he obliged me willingly and even asked me to put him through the whole process cheesy. Our generic letter head does not have an email address so he happily gave me his business card. Bless him.

Medicals, PCC, Studio 24: I did this 3 at once in Lagos. Our boy was cooperative enough to take a passport photo with his head straight smiley. Those guys are professionals. I got both the soft copy (for post ITA, 35x45 mm i suppose) and the hard copy (50x70mm) for PPR. I prayed that the hard copy would be valid by the time we get PPR because hubby is not readily available. Thank God.

LOE: I explained the reason why my work ref and bank letters were in my maiden name, i even went to the extent of getting a one and same person court affidavit (which was totally unnecessary); i needed the peace of mind grin. I also filled schedule a form for past visa refusals.

We finally submitted.

ITA - 10th Jan
AOR - 18th Mar
MEP/IP1 - 24th Mar
ADR / IP2 - 16th May (ADR - IMM 5406 form)
Submitted ADR - 17th May
PPR - 18th May (dated 17th May)

I saw the mail today, now i have 5 days to submit cry. Thank God i checked my spam folder today. I stopped checking it when i got ADR in my inbox so i ruled out the possibility of getting their mail in my spam. Please do not assume.

Thank you all for your best wishes. This journey tests your patience and the strength of your resolve. It could be through IELTS, ECA, POF, PPR, even settling down. It will definitely end it praise for us all if we do not give up. kiss kiss kiss

Thanks to everyone on this thread, the contributors and encouragers. We are one big family.

Newmum i am looking forward to the express entry nairaland alumni group you want to start up in Cannyland wink and your PPR announcement with happytbaby, ethelia and all those awaiting PPR.

dont be offended for calling u guys out..am in serious need of help so my dads younger bro is a pharmacist by profession with almost 15yrs experience..has 4 kids witb his wife so i explained the express entry idea to him and since then he’s been so interested more than me..problem is that we really dont have the mind to do it on our own ..and we got to knw about an agent that does it ..a trusted one but the price for just the agent fee is 300k...150k to begin consultation and pay the rest when he finally gets the PR..so he wants to apply but just for himself then later sponsor his wife and kids..is this wise?...pls i really need help or guide

@tizzdi, someone has already answered this question, check some pages back...
however let me say my 2 cents

1. let him read this thread... all the parts , especially page 0.. it will help in the long run..
he doesn't need any agent.. unless he has plenty money to spare.. in which case, he should not leave his family behind oh... angry

2. he can apply as family not accompanying for now.. but he needs to know that he must still show the POF for his family ..even with this option..
please and please, he should not try the "smart sense" option of not accompanying before ITA and accompanying after ITA.. that is 5year ban waiting for him..

3. his age would be a huge factor, let him try to assimilate his CRS score with his wife as PA... and see what options they need to take to improve their chances...

the PNP route this year has gotten tougher.. so unless his company has a canadian branch where he can lobby for transfer or he can get a job offer for canada from najia ( anything is possible..), let him explore all options to increase their points before focusing on PNP...

I think that's a difficult path to choose. I think it was elfman who mention here that paying for WES with WU is a no no. Pls use the search tool to look for the particular post. Otherwise select a different payment option. Also get to your bank and obtain dollar card for this journey.

Post ITA guys please pay attention to medical print out, Nigerian PCC and other documents. Names and passport number on these documents - I can't shout.

They had to redo ours due to errors. Good thing they always reminded one to check properly before leaving the premises. So don't be too much in a hurry. Check well

Good evening House,
My credential assessment is currently ongoing with WES. My Unilag masters certificate is not yet ready so the school issued me an attestation letter which was sent to WES along with my transcript.

The issue now is that if I receive ITA before my certificate is ready, can I go ahead and upload the attestation letter in lieu of certificate when I'm putting my documentation together?

Please help out.
Thanks

Wow! So sorry, I really feel your pain. I don't even know what to say. But with this your score, I would suggest u book another test probably with BC this time around and intensify ur writing practice but still practice a few of the other sections.
P.S if u had written with BC now, I would have suggested u raise an EOR but since MOD is famous for not giving a favourable outcome as regards to EOR, and d 45k no be beans, I can't really advice that. Hopefully, others can chip in theirs..

Think i would just re-write.

If you're sure you hit 150 and 250 words, Please remark if you can afford it since it only takes about two weeks. But follow up your request by mailing IDP midway to ensure your script gets to Australia. You can get details on contacting IDP by searching the thread.

I'm sure that I hit the required words, just scared because of what I have read from this forum about IDP.

Thanks, Its around 393. Only have a Bsc and 4yrs experience

I think u should allow ur spouse to ace IELTS . Wait for her MBA to be ready. Meanwhile you can start your own ECA nowquote author=codehead777 post=67890571]Ok people i need advice.

Currently in the pool with a score of 434. 5points to be deducted on next birthday (June 1st).
First ielts (LRSW - 8,7.5,7,7.5).
Second ielts (LRSW - 8.5,9,7.5,6.5) - was hoping for CLB 10

Spouse MBA final result will be out later this year by Oct I think. If she becomes the PA, crs will be 456 with a CLB 9.

So my question is should I write again in July and work towards CLB 10 which will give me 438 or I relax till Oct for spouse MBA result before i continue the journey considering ECA will take sometime too.[/quote]

Thanks bro.

It's FUT Minna. Though i've paid for the verification but i told them not to disclose that to WES since WES said i must not interfere in the verification process.

Titaniium:

To the best of my understanding, I think your school is charging WES in order to verify your transcript. You may have to step to your school to clear things up and probably pay for the verification because WES doesnt pay any school a dime.

May I ask, what school is it?

As in ehhhn, I need to max out the IELTS score to stand a chance.

Hello fam. I am kinda new on this thread

Please I have a few clarifications to make....

Lets say I submit my ITA as a "single" on 27 May and say 2 months later, I got married and notify CIC.....
- would this distort my application in terms of the timing within which my PPR will be granted?
- would my CRS scores be recalculated as a "married" applicant or are my scores locked-in already?
- does my spouse have to take the IELTS and ECA?
- what additional documentation would be required?

Please I need responses to the above questions to enable me make a well informed decision.

NB: I took my IELTS on 24 May and my ECA has been completed since January.

It shall end in PRAISE!!!!!
