Abroad social clubs give back to the community i.e The government. But in Nigeria the reverse is the case. The gesture would even be more fraudulent if Ambode has some connection to the Polo club which I'm sure he does. And of all the social clubs in Lagos. Can someone explain why Polo club was handpicked to lavish a whole 50 million naira on. This is a club that only elites can be members oooo.

Governance is a business, and the Clubs are stakeholders in the conglomerate and must get paid.

In sane countries, presidents and governors can't just give out money without passing through congressional approval.

It is parliament that releases any money no matter how small for all govt spending which have been debated on.


It is this lack of oversight in Nigeria that is largely responsible for humongous corruption in govt.

Politicians just spend as they like.

Agreed. I know a couple of such organizations. They usually help government and not the other way round.

Your tax times 1000 is not even up to the tax the smallest member of that Polo Club pays to the government. Same way as you want investment with your tax is same way they too want investment with their tax as a way of encouragement.
Incase you don't know, the richest 10% of any the society Contributes 90% of tax. Same in Churches, the richest 10% of the members contributes 90% of the tithe.

It is wrong. It is unethical.

so long as the poor dont focus on themselves, the rich will have no reason to focus on them.


In knowledgeable societies the rich make sure there are safety nets for the poor because they know the poor in their societies will not let them enjot their wealth if they are hungry, but in Nigeria the poor man is killing himself over which rich man has more money...so why will the rich bother about them?

How much is N50 million grant at the end of the day with infrastructural expansion at the club, more social activities, job creation and more IGR for the state to harvest year after year, decades after decades.?


And they wonder why Lagos is fast developing and IGR is shooting through the roof.

This is money well spent, it's like planting IGR seed and in effect developing the state, just too bad that many Nigerian youths want to lead, but they are still too mentally backward, clueless and, shortsighted and immature to lead, especially the ignorant ones from the village.

didn't ask how NGO's are funded and am sure Lagos state isn't a charity organisation.

I am not a lawyer but I know Ambode does not have the right to dish out tax payers money to individuals or groups without proper clearance from proper authorities and I know for certain that the American president ant even think to try such talk less of an American givernor unless its coming from his own private pocket which the house of assembly is mandated to investigate.

When I said Ambode is a failure, some people were abusing me. This money could have been used to complete the abandoned mini-stadium at Ifako. Won't that improves the social activities.
