The federal ministry of health have ordered the armophous group called Johesu to resume work in 72hrs or consider themselves to have absconded from work. This comes after series of failed negotiation with the group, despite efforts made by the government to make them see reason why they have be handed the biggest hand of fellowship and are the most pampered Civil servants in the country today.

Currently a nurse with postgraduate college of Nursing, who is just a diploma holder, starts at the same point as a graduate with BSC, but earns even higher. They begin work at level 8, while other diploma courses begin at level 6. Also, Pharmacy, Lab technicians ( glorified as Scientist), run their course for 5yrs, have almost 2 of those years as IT years and still do 1 post graduation internship, meaning their real study years is actually just 3yrs. These courses are just about 3-4yrs in advanced countries and they never equate themselves with Medical Doctors.

With the circular pass it is only hoped the armophous body will learn a lesson that they can teach up coming hospital support staffs.

Why did the Minister indict himself by signing an agreement that he knew he wouldn't implement while he implemented that of Doctors?

Why is he offering 25% of the said CONHESS adjustment? Or why doesn't he want to apply the adjustment for all Grade Levels in CONHESS?

The Doctors claimed that that skipping of CONHESS is illegal but it was applied in the adjustment of CONMESS.

The Minister has shown that he is biased and incompetent to run the health sector.

Now, he has come out with a circular 'ordering' the Board Chairmen to sack JOHESU members and advertise for their positions. Is that how it's done all over the world?

JOHESU members are not support/technical staff. They are Professionals.

Politician eat fat and leave employees enemies against themselves. My problem is not the strike. But with the thuggish attitude of Johesu, I wonder how doctors can ever work amicably with u guys again. The little peace in the health sector has been eroded for ever.

Oga, JOHESU is ready to leave the hospital for you, why are you still hyperventilating

You go die on top this strike oo

Lmao.

I thought you lots claim to be more important than other healthcare professionals Yet you have failed woefully to prove yourselves in the absence of the "unimportant" guys.

And now, you - mrbigiman, has resorted to pulling off a "notice" from your stinking aszs to cow the supposedly unimportant workers into returning to work!

Funny!!!

Wise one bro. Growing up I knew Lab technicians to be support staffs and semiskilled labour, same as nurses. Over the years they have increased the length of their course, and called them selfs professionals, yet their role has not changed. Offering a 25% increase in Salary is a big hand of fellowship and their rejecting it only shows how ungrateful they are. In 72hrs a replacement will be shopped.

Funny!!!

Stop mentioning my name over and over again. Johesu's woes just began. When the government finishes with that group, there will be more honour for a bet naija player, than for anyone that associates himself with Johesu. Already some intelligent support staffs are withdrawing from the armophous group.

You are too young to understand what goes on in government. Back in the day NLC terrorized the government. Johesu couldn't come near to NLC's venom. Today NLC is a praise singing group, hoping that the louder they sing, then probably the government will tilt to their demand. Johesu is minutes from joining that praise singing group which will only get crumbs from singing loud praise songs to the government.

During the previous government, Johesu bribed judges and payed influential people to buy unwarranted favour. Today, the monster called corruption is dying and only praise singing can hand u some crumbs that u actually don't deserve.

This move by FMH/NMA (cause they are one and the same) is a very good move.

this is the last card they have to play, a show of power or might to subdue a union with threats of sack.

But it is a very poor attempt, a very poor attempt because it will fail massively( they are professionals with many years of experience and cannot be replaced as easily as u think) and when it does in the coming days the FMH/ NMA will then realized but a little too late that they have played themselves into the hands of JOHESU.

why do I say this?
The demands of JOHESU have changed ever since it recognize that NMA will not concede to it achieving it's goals and the realization that the are backed by the FMH.
They therefore have made a total boycott of the FMH and are even insisting on his immediate sack. JOHESU has also
refused to meet with the minister for any other dialogue (snubbing him) but are pressing to speak with the president himself.
they have had a 50% success in this regard, in the sense that they have spoken with the number 2 most influential person in government after the President in the person of the Senate president and also spoke with him yesterday as well.
If these meetings are successful then the Minister of Health should consider himself done for, cause he would be sacked in due time, whether in 2018 or 2019 (since he can't settle his affairs, so what is his use)

But in a case these meetings do not give the desired result, then Johesu will continue to press until they see the President himself. Take note, election is by the corner and this government is working to salvage it's reputation before the polls. Demands made prior to polls always tend to yield their desired results.... ask ASUU..... all of these threats where handed to them by GEJ but they still continued their strike until GEJ had to save face by granting their demands so the opposition doesn't use it against them.

The FMH is standing on a time bomb, going by force will prove to be the last straw that will break the FMH/NMA's back.... instead their former tactics were better.... deceiving and derailing the public and the FG on the issue, while wasting time.... but this action now is an act of desperation, which shows they have already lost their grip on the strike, cause it is now beyond the office of the Minister of Health, and now in the office of the Senate president and it can still go further.

it's checks out indeed.... GEJ and BUHARI have one thing in common.... both want a second term.... and trust me, when it's election time everybody dances to the tune of the music played by the people, even "MR. INTEGRITY " Himself. Lagos State has already danced to the tune along with some 2 other states..... as such the opposition has nothing to hold these states to ransom during the election.... ASUU and JOHESU also share some common similarities..... ASUU before now were never taken seriously but were tossed about and treated like second class citizens, after all the children of Government officials don't attend public universities... but ASUU did the impossible and went on 6 months long strike..... different NGO's protested against them, court ruled against them, they pressed to speak with GEJ and he still didn't grant their wish.... he later gave them a portion of their demands and Nigerians begged them to accept it in good faith, but they insisted that their demands fully be meant..... then came the last straw, that they were all sacked and newspaper nationwide carried job openings for lecturers.... but in the end the union stood it's ground and GEJ had to shift ground..... he paid everything before they resumed work.... paid them for the 6 months they went on strike and today ASUU going on strike is a forgotten issue cause all their demands have been meant.
Johesu is fighting this to the last, all or nothing.... and since they know how valuable they are it's just a matter of time before they all come dancing to their tune!

Johesu is not as powerful as they think. Equating ourselves with Lecturers is a big Joke. Also Lecturers didn't get everything they requested. In fact the 6months strike ended when the government asked a register to be opened in each institution, and any lecturer that doesn't resume should consider his job lost.

This malaria 'dokita' with their lies again. Who told you Medical Scientists do IT for 2 years while in training. Your frustrations just began.
Johesu went on strike you all ran away from the hospitals to your private clinics from where you propagate your empty propaganda that hospitals are working.

Continue with your malaria and typhoid jobs in private clinics. grin

Why can't ASUU be compared with JOHESU. Don't we have Scientists, pharmacists and nurses who are members of both ASUU and JOHESU? Yours truly is a member of both groups. You believe these professionals mere nobodies be ready for a shock then.

Good move by FG. If they don't resume, sack them all and request that they bring back all the hospital keys they took. Put up vacancy adverts and they'll be replaced in no time.

Or better still, share johesu salary amongst doctors and see the wonders they can do. It will even be a cheaper option, even if it's 70% of johesu salary. For example, if johesu salary is supposed to be N10m, tell the doctors to do their work and this N10M will be shared amongst them. The hospital will run at 150%.
Pathologists will takeover the lab.
200/300l medical students will takeover nurses.
100l medical students will takeover the pharmacists. (even wassce holder can takeover).
If traditional practitioners are doing physiotherapist work, then doctors can do it as well.
Aboki is already doing optometrist work.
Cleaners and gatemen can be employed on contract. Even patient relatives will be glad to volunteer
