Nice and thoughtful answers... My advice Practice Practice, Practice and please do not CRAM

lalahhh:
Please this is my proposed transcript. Please help me check it. Criticism is highly welcome please . Thank you.
Me- Good morning
VO- Good morning, pass me your passport and I-20
VO- where are you going to?
Me- I’m going to North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina for my masters in History.
VO- what’s your major?
Me- History
VO- how many schools did you apply to?
Me- For full applications I applied only to NCCU but I applied to the University of Wyoming but a decision from NCCU cake through before I could complete the application of University of Wyoming.
VO - so why NCCU?
Me- Aside from the full scholarship I got to attend NCCU, NCCU’s history department enables students to enjoy and benefit from a mentoring environment that allows students reach their full potential and places them in a position to be successful researchers as the schools history department produces more students who have earned their PHD in history than any other Historical Black college and University in USA and this I am fascinated by as my career goal is to be a history professor in one of the top universities in Nigeria and I also feel proud as a Nigerian to be attending a school in USA who’s chancellor is from Nigeria.
VO- what’s your highest degree?
Me- B.A in history and international studies
VO- so how did you hear about NCCU?
Me- my sister first told me about NCCU and then I made a research online about it and I was very impressed by its cultural diversity and how easy it would be for me to settle in well being that its HBCU (Historical Black College and Univeristy).
VO- how come your sister knows about NCCU
Me- she went to North carolina A&T and she
told you great stuffs
about the school which she learnt from her friends schooling
there..
VO- I see you graduated since 2015, what have you been doing since then?
Me- after graduation, I completed my NYSC and I started working with my dad at his Quarry in Ogun state .At the quarry I help out with general administrative duties including but not limited to typing of memos, taking minutes in meeting, I take stock too and staff recruitments and salary preparation. It’s more like the HR of the company sir .
VO- in your previous interviews I noticed you wanted to go for Peace and Conflict Resolution why change to History?
Me- History and international studies is the course I did as an undergraduate. And In NCCU I get to minor in Peace and Conflict Resolution.
VO- what’s your study plan?
Me- I must complete a minimum of 21hours of History major classes ,9hrs of external minor and 9hrs of internal minor related to History, complete a reading proficiency exam, complete a comprehensive written exam and complete a research thesis of 6hour credit which includes oral exams.
VO- what will this course do for you
Me- A masters degree in history is extremely versatile, and after the
completion of my studies i would be taking up a teaching position at
my Alma mater .
Also, Nigeria history is enriched by archaeological discoveries just
like  Egypt, Rome and Israel to which millions of people in search of
truth and possibly their roots pay so much in accommodation and
travels to register sentiments and presence. It is unbelievably
surprising that in Nigeria no such effort is made to match these
countries, Thus i plan on collaborating with the Government in giving
Nigeria rich history her  best possible recognition  .....
VO- who’s sponsoring you?
Me- I have merit scholarship and family support
VO - types for a while and says your visa has been approved.

That a school that knows the process.... scanned i20 is a no no. You need to find out when is your i20 likely to arrive which will guide you on booking dates. Except If the time really short , I would wait to see the i20 before booking an appointment

i ll be using eshipglobal or ups pickup (that's if d school agrees to the pick up) which would most likely arrive in 4 to 5 working days.

Hello dear,

Nicely thought-out transcript, I must say. I'd like you to work on your answer to how you heard of NCCU. I wasn't really convinced.

Don't forget that you've got to sound very convincing and your points have to keep the VO 'interested' in listening to you.

I hope I made small sense ma'am....and congratulations in advance. smiley

Yea it's very clear... I dnt really knw why but wen I went online to check btw India transcript and ours..menhhh out of 10transcript they give 7-8 and wen it come to Nigeria it different..... As what I observed is that the vo will want to scrutinize every f1 student..... That is my own little observation. In Nigeria embassy it difficult for applicant to say the have a relative living there and for this case he even has one that is there and currently working...which is against the the process.... Dunno but it seems Nigeria really has bad record wen it gets to immigration

And to think Indias are the main culprits when it comes to abusing the different visa categories especially the H1B

I haven't noticed that myself. A good number of CSU applicants tend to get their visas approved. Like someone said, the interview transcripts, if contrary, that you read on here are only a portion of the entire interviews conducted at the embassy year in year out and are not representative of true statistics.

Once it is submitted, it is submitted and it cannot be retrieved.

I don't understand the rush many potential applicants have in submitting their DS160s too early when it cannot be retrieved after submission. For reasons like this I always recommend that people do‎ not submit their DS160s too quickly until a few days to their interview to ensure that any mistakes made are corrected and all required information is entered to avoid having to submit, retrieve and update new ones several times.

You can't retrieve your submitted DS160 form but you can duplicate it and a new DS160 number will be assigned to you which you would need to update on your visa profile page. Visit the DS160 website, select Lagos or Abuja accordingly, enter the captcha code‎, click on retrieve application, enter your current DS160 number, enter your security questions. It would come up with 2 options: view submission page or so, or load a new application or so. Choose the second option, it would duplicate your current/submitted DS160 for you with all the info in it but with a new DS160 number. Now you can make necessary corrections to your new DS160. Do not forget to update the new DS160 number on your visa profile and reprint your interview appointment page bearing your new DS160 number or else you would be turned back at the embassy for the new DS160 number not matching with the old DS160 number on your initial visa appointment printout. Be sure to update your new DS160 number on your visa appointment profile at least 2 to 3 days in advance to your interview date.

For others still filling out their DS160s, do not be in a hurry to submit it too early. Chances are that you might forget to add something useful or you realize that you made a mistake somewhere etc. Be patient and submit it a few days to your interview to ensure sure that you have everything good and correct that you want on the form before submitting.

Goodluck

Nope, actually I do think that the Indians have it tougher at getting visas than Nigerians. Their students are well scrutinized and sometimes their F1 visa interview is conducted in 2 stages by 2 different embassy officials. The population of India runs in billions vs millions for Nigeria and the number of Indians agitating to get out of the country is twice as Nigeria's, thus the extra scrutiny. The few successful Indian transcripts you read online are not representative of the true picture and Indians who manage to get their visas and leave the country see it as winning the lottery.

Hello all,

Please when a university abroad asks of your secondary school certificate with enclosed transcript of records, what do they mean?

What am I expected to send as my secondary school transcript? For the secondary school certificate, I understand they are asking for either SSCE or WASSCE certificates. What do they mean by secondary school transcript of records please?
Do they mean the results I got each term from my secondary school which contains the subjects I took and the score?
