Nope. I think the two players to be axed are still Mikel Agu and Ola Aina. Nothing has changed. However, in Russia, I would prefer a DM combo of Ndidi and either Ogu or Etebo. Ogenyi Onazi and J. Obi really failed my hands today.

O pari

Joebie:
Now we know the two players that will be dropped will not be Ogu or Etebo in midfield. Ogu has played as a CB in training so o wasn’t surprised. Joel Obi or Onazi should be axed.
Of course the other is a no brainer. Rohr will not pick Aina over Echiejile. Now u know

When will the coach announce the final 23 man squad. I was a fan of Joel Obi but can now see that he doesn't merit a place in the team. I don't think Rohr can drop Onazi o.

Oh, Ebuehi is a no brainer now. I will cry blue murder if Rohr starts Shehu ahead of Ebuehi in Russia. The differences in quality is not even close.

Him and Joel play long balls to nobody in particular and dash opponents ball to scored. Onazi runs everywhere and give out space see how the English midfield were pass straight to the attack nobody no intercept and you wonder what the 2 DMs were doing.
Joel and Onazi one should go back to their club (very very very poor from them). With Ndidi back he should partner Ogu I swear our mf would be complete.

It's not every time you blame the youngest player. The guy did very well, he almost caught that second goal sef

He did well. I must admit, he has improved but still, a top goalie should be saving that 2nd goal. If nobody blames him, he won't improve. Period

don't know if am the only one noticing it, this team tends to start play with lack of confidence when they play european teams or bigger teams, It showed in games against argentina, poland, serbia and england. reason we conceded cheap and early goals. It's a shame with players like mikel, moses and others who play abroad and has faced these big players at club levels.

The Nff should do something about this urgently cos in this game, the same England that looked bigger in the first half look so small in the second half.

Are our players suffering stage fright? this is where croatia and even iceland could edge it. The boys only seem to increase in confidence in the second half and it's scaring

He did OK but gets beaten for pace a few times for comfort. And comparatively speaking, I think Omeruo did much better in the second half.

No one should blame Joel

Compare the interception both made today and i can confidently tell you that Joel was impressive compare to Onazi, take it or japa

They were both trash. Onazi has outgrown is usefulness in the super eagles, while sorry to say Joel Obi has no place in the Nigerian Midfield. He should stick to club football.

Onazi will go to the world cup but he honestly does not deserve it. Joel, Simi or Aina will pronably be dropped.

Lastly for the Czech game Iheanacho has to start. We already know Ebuehi and Ogu have automatically become a starters.

I don't like how we took our legs off the pedal when we were on the ascendancy in the second half. It could easily have been a draw, which would not be a bad score for a game played at the Wembley stadium.

I would be quite surprised if Joel Obi makes the cut for Russia. He was piss poor in today's game. He's not been solid in all the games played so far.

Onazi should not be starting our games. He's too erratic. He is chiefly the main reason we lost today's game.

Rohr needs to do something about our slow start to games. It's been perpetual. We could have been 3 goals down in the first 20 minutes. Good teams will punish us if we keep this habit up.

My verdict after today's game

1) Joel Obi is useless: whatever story we read on this thread that Joel was impressive in camp or he is doing well in SerieA are nothing but load of hogwash. he is very useless. I'll take Agu ahead of him any time. his fans are just hyping him unnecessary here since . they said he could play DM, CM,AM,LB... They said he could play better with Mikel.. it's been 4 games now and he hasn't done sh*t.. he should be dropped..

2) Iwobi isn't a winger: I don't think we need to deliberate on this any more... its been proven already that he is ineffective from the wings...

3) 3-5-2 is the real thing: the loss of Moses Simeon is the major reason I think this formation should b our main one at d WC..

4) Ogu is a huge asset: need I say more?? sorry for those who were saying he would b dropped yesterday

5) Odogwu Mikel is still the boss...

The first half of d game was very frustrating.. When Ndidi returns,I expect to see Onazi back on the bench.

And finally,Rohr should pls drop Joel obi

You are one of those hyping this team. Have you seen reality. It's a different ball game when you play a team that is disciplined. Onazi, Joel Obi have no business in that team. They don't have the mental strength and talent to compete at this stage. Onazi need to lose weight. I doubt if 0gu can be a better replacement to Joel Obi. Obi i am sorry to say has no business in this team. Onazi need to go but do you have a better replacement. Simy Nwankwo should be tried, let Iwobi support him. Iwobi makes the runs but poor movement and positioning limits his creativity.

Mikel need to man up and coordinate his midfield.

To the Mods banning me, I don't hate Nigeria, i just tell boastful and arrogant people here who think they have better knowledge of football to keep quiet. I have not seen those so called intellectuals contributing.

Of course, having a bad team and a very good goalkeeper, is just about delaying the inevitable but in this case, if his reflexes was sharper, he should have stopped that ball because it slipped right under him.
If we can't accept this much, it means we have really low expectations of those representing you and me.
Look,I understand what you're saying but I don't agree with "it could have been 1:1 if..."

It could have been 1-0 if Enyeama hadn't gifted Pogba the ball, is this statement fair?

Safari, he's been super fantastic. Think the Ebuehi of the Argies friendly on steroids grin

Another thing we can confirm today, which is what I have always known, is that Alex Iwobi is an AM not an inverted winger. And in addition, I am thinking that Omeruo might have snatched Leon Balogun's starting spot.

O pari

Omeruo is calm when under pressure while Balogun makes hasty clearances which lands in opponents feet, but Omerou sometimes is guilty of awkward unforced errors. I think he passes the ball better when under pressure.

Simy Nwankwo in my opinion might be Nigeria's joker in Russia. Ighalo is so unpredictable. He is very unstable, panics and does not have the composure characteristic of Nigerian forwards.

Onazi and Joel Obi should not be in that team. Mikel Agu might not be a better replacement but if he can move, position, tackle neatly and pass the ball better, then Onazi should leave the national team. He simply can't move and if he lacks mobility, he should at least keep the ball and utilize it better when he gets it but none of that happened tonight.

Uzoho saved Nigeria tonight coupled with England's wastefulness. They would have scored up to 6 good goals in the first half.

Ighalo in my opinion is not very useful. Simy Nwankwo need to step in and hopefully step up. He can offer Nigeria what Loftus Cheek offered England tonight. Loftus Cheek had the physical presence that intimidated Nigeria in the match. None of the Nigerian players could match him or get the ball off him. I think Nwankwo would give Nigeria what they have been missing. He has the physique and enthusiasm of Yekini, skill and flair of Kanu and the height and strength of Victor Agali...like Agali, his 'head game' is tight and he can move and fast as well.

Nigeria should consider this match a win. The positives to take home would be the wrong report which Croatian and other spies would take home tonight. If Nigeria can compose themselves and survive 60mins of the matches in the world cup without conceding goals, they might come good.

But Onazi and Joel Obi need to leave the camp tonight. If anyone gets injured and Rohr could not get replacements, let them play with 21 men.

I agree with you, same thing happened against serbia, again it's down to confidence, these boys are lacking in confidence in our first half games and it's worrying. if uzoho had played in the first half in the argentina game, he would have conceded

The three players to be dropped will be Mikel Agu, Joel Obi and Echiejile.

Joel was horrible today, Agu has not featured in the last three games, and Echiejile didn’t feature today.

Aina’s versatility may just punch his ticket to the WC.
